Survival Tactic ❧ I;

( She'd experienced this once before, she felt, during that time in the library. Except this was different. This time, she woke up inside of a cocoon-- her coffin, she supposed.

Yet, this didn't quite disturb her. Preferably, she'd have stayed with her two brothers, but she'd made her peace with death before. It was okay, she'd tell herself. Everything will be fine. Shoma and Kanba would learn to move on, the world would still turn. She'll be fine. Himari was better off this way.

This did not, however, account for whatever it was that weighed down her chest. A box of some kind? She rose up from the casket, box in hand, and began to rifle through it. Once she reads through the pamphlets, she clicks on her device: )

Sooooo, what all draws us here: magic? Or are we all pulled from death?

( What? No inquiry of what this place is, or where to live? Priorities... )

That's the million dollar question now. Some people are pulled from death, others - like me - aren't.

Though... I have to ask, you don't really look like a fighter so... why would you think that?

( She taps her fingers against the metal of the casket, as if pondering a way to phrase her answer: )

Oh-- I'm very sick, you see. ( Was very sick? She's not certain anymore. ) But that's okay! My brothers have taken good care of me!!

( Himari... why do you seem okay with being dead? )

Well, it's nice to know you've got people looking out for you back home but... you seem... awfully resigned to your "fate".

[Complete with air quotes and an eye roll with the word fate.]

Is death really all that bad?

( AKA: she doesn't want to be a burden. )

That depends. There are plenty that don't deserve the lives they have, spending their time taking power and holding others down, and then there are innocents that live in pain and hardship all their lives.

I'm not one to really say whether death is bad or not. However, I do know one thing. Death is an end, and though the world moves on, those that go on have to do so without something precious to them.

What about your brothers? Would they really just let go of you that easy?

( Well, considering one of them LITERALLY BECOMES A TERRORIST to pay for her treatments, no. But it's not as if Himari is aware of this!! ~~Yet.~~ She frowns at him a bit. )

Well-- no, I don't think... I mean-- they go out of their way to keep me happy and all.

( Offscreen, she clutches at the penguinhat that Sho had purchased for her. )

Alright then, I don't want to hear anything along the lines of "is death really bad" out of you again, okay?

Alrighty then. ( She never really was too concerned about mortality, so Himari is able to take his words in stride. Then, she giggles a bit, and points towards Dante through her end of the screen. ) I've decided. While I'm here, I want you to be Himari's new big brother!

( Himari, you can't just go around declaring people to be your brother... )

[Dante just... stares for a long moment, unsure how to react to that.]

Uh... you... sure about that, kid? I'm not exactly the brotherly type. [Vergil would attest to that.] We don't even know each others' names.

( Oh Dante. She will make you the brotherly type, just watch. )

Well, I'm Himari! ( She beams a bit. ) And we're all stuck in this place together, so it makes sense to form our own families, right? Aaaaand, you seem pretty cool!

( wHAT KIND OF LOGIC IS THIS? )

Well... I can't deny, I'm pretty great.

[He shrugs. She's right though, right? No point in being stand-offish for no reason.]

( See? Already turning him into Big Brother Material!! )

Nice to meet you too, Dante! ( She giggles a bit. ) So, how do I get outta this place?

( SHOULDN'T THIS HAVE BEEN THE FIRST THING SHE ASKED? )

[Dante thinks for a second before standing and stepping off screen. Of course now that he's moved, the massive curved blade hanging behind his chair is visible.]

Stay where you are, I'll come to you. Couldn't let a kid just wander around by herself now can I?

Roger that! I'll be waiting for you outside this, erm... cave!

( She'll move that far, at least. Penguin hat topping her head and all. )

[Dante will show up a few minutes later, with a guitar case slung over one shoulder.]

Nice uh... nice hat.

[...Kinda creepy though.]

( Don't worry, Dante. The magic inside of the hat, for the time being, is dormant. Himari giggles, giving Dante a small curtsy. )

I'm glad you like it! Big brother Shoma bought it for me.

[Dante nods a bit with a small smile.]

Good to see you've got something from home to remind you of your brothers then.

[There's a small beat as he glances over his shoulder.]

You hungry? I know a place that has pretty good strawberry sundaes around here.

I would like that very much!!

( She stops and considers this for a moment. Her voice falters a bit. )

But, um... actually I'm allergic to milk.

( We're sorry, Dante. )

Oh. Well then.

[Dante makes a comically exaggerated leg movement as he adjusted to a different course.]

There's a burger place nearby then. We can get you something to eat there.

W-were you dying? Are you okay now? Do you need something.

[She pauses, biting her lower lip.]

Actually, I should answer your questions first. [She doesn't want to be rude.] We aren't... at least I'm not but we can be pulled from different times. I assume it's magic or some kind ... I don't really know.

[Her voice trails off before her thoughts catch up with her again.]

Oh, I'm sorry. I should introduce myself. I'm Airy Miller. I woke up here too though it was a few months ago.

In my world I lived with an illness. But don't worry, I'm fine now!

( Except she hasn't looked for a job or a place to live, but y'know. )

Oh well that's odd. I wonder why they bring all these people here. It's good to meet you, though. I'm Himari Takakura!

[Airy blinks at the camera, looking really nervous.]

Are you sure that you’re fine?

[That’s an odd thing to say, not that Airy is one to judge oddities.]

It’s nice to meet you and yeah, I don’t know. I wish I had more to tell you.

[She feels sort of bad that she doesn’t know anything helpful.]

Yeah. Actually-- if you'd believe it, I've been feeling more energetic than I ever have back home!! I'm not sure why that is...

( Himari frowns, as if a little frustrated by this fact. She hasn't quite pieced together why this is. )

But I should be fine! I have Dante coming to pick me up, after all!!

[Airy doesn't understand why so she has no other reasons for the girl.]

Dante is nice. I'm glad he's coming to get you.

[Athrun looks concerned. Who would ask that kind of thing?]

I can safely say that I'm not dead, and neither is anybody else I've met here. Why would you come to that conclusion?

( Whatever concern he has, Himari waves off, answering with a bit of a shrug. )

I'm fine! I just live with an illness is all.

( WHY IS SHE COMPLETELY UNBOTHERED BY THIS? )

[Athrun can't help but stare. He is completely nonplussed by this girl's attitude concerning her situation.]

That doesn't sound fine. How are you able to be so nonchalant about such a thing?

Well, I, Isuke, certainly am not dead so magic is a much more reasonable explanation.

Though some people claim to have died and come back, so beware of pseudo-zombies ♥

Zombies, huh? ( Himari's not perturbed by hearing this, just curious. Although by that definition, she'd technically be a pseudo one. ) I didn't realize such a thing could exist.

( Is she really... starting this conversation? )

What else could you call someone who came back from the grave? Classic horror movie stuff!

[ She shrugs a little. ]

Though those guys here don't seem to rot. They don't lose body parts, just memories.

[ But actually... She looks off into the distance contemplatively for a second. ]

Over in Everglade, there might be some rotting ones, too. Who knows...

Hm... well, I've heard that in Christianity their saviour was resurrected from the dead, so maybe something similar to that?

( Don't ask her about theology, tho. She really doesn't know a lot. )

But if there are any real zombies around, I'll be sure to fight them!!

( .......Please don't let her try to fight them, she'll die. )

[ Isuke has seen her fair share of good fighters who look like little girls, so she can certainly not rule out Himari having the skill to do as she announces... but she's still gonna break out into giggles at this proclamation. ]

You sure have big plans for someone who hasn't even gotten out of the arrival cave yet ♥

Well, no. But I'm sure if I ever wanted to explore, I could easily find a map.

( Although she's not terribly invested in fighting zombies. )

So, where exactly do I go from here?

( Now she thinks to ask? )

Oh, the map is just in front of your nose. Once you get up from your cozy little bed, there'll be a magazine rack outside with all kinds of more or less useful info about the place.

And there'll be a hologram of a girl who's all high and mighty about organizing the place will give you a boring little lecture.

While I don't doubt that magic wasn't somehow involved in all this, we aren't all pulled from death.

[ Even though he was. Technically. This being dead for 3,000 years and then suddenly alive again ~~and not running around in the world of his memories~~ was still relatively confusing for him.

Although for one so young to asking that... ]

Good question. The Genessia Scientific Research Foundation is looking into that, but all of our results just brought more questions..which means we're probably heading the right way.

[ Which is not fun for Liv when she's on the wrong brain, but eh. She's working with it. ]

Considering there are some people here who can't use magic, I wouldn't know if magic was the thing that drew us here. Though honestly, I don't think everyone is pulled from death either.

[He paused, wondering if he was making sense really.]

People here.... they haven't all died back in their world. There are several people who have, but I wouldn't say it's a common thing or anything like that.

I don't know what any of us have in common.

I would have to say.... a little bit of both. I know there are those that don't have any access to magic, but I doubt any of us could be here without some magical powers.

[as for her other question, robin shakes her head a little.]

We aren't all pulled from death, no. Since you're asking that.... have you... did you die back home as well? [that may be extremely personal, so robin will add her own experience:] I died back home, so I know the feeling.
