[Video/Action] Yelling!

[The video feed starts up to show a blurry green tube of a finger with more shades of green to either side. Peridot's voice is muffled by her clumsy grip on the videophone but she is clearly yelling.]

Stupid, stupid communicator... thing! Rargh! Why can't I be somewhere that makes sense?! Ugh, fine! Here-

[The video feed turns even more green and zooms a few feet away from scowling Gem, held up by a beam coming out of her stumpy 'palm.' Somehow she already looks worse for wear, missing one foot of her limb enhancers, a smudge of dirt on her visor, and triangular hair a mess.]

Grrr, okay! This thing works right? Not well enough to contact Yellow Diamond- [grumble] -but someone can hear me right?! Ugh, I hate this cruddy old tech. I need to find a way to contact Homeworld! I am not getting stuck on another backwater planet! This one better not be about to explode.

There has to be another Gem here, a warp pad, something! If you Crystal Clods are here you better leave me alone! I'll- I'll blast you to dust if you don't! Urgggh, that would be my luck. I bet those- those idiotic clods are behind this. First they stranded me on Earth and now I'm stranded here! None of this makes sense, what's currency? What's a child?!

Rargh!

[Peridot's agitated flailing breaks the beam holding the videophone and it lands on the grass, face down. The screen is dark for several seconds while Peridot can be heard ranting above. When she picks the phone back up, she's realized how to hold it without obscuring the camera and looks more sullen than enraged.]

Ahem. I am Peridot and I demand someone tell me how to get off this horrible- er, uh, whatever! This planet, I want to get out of here!

[Action] -- chose a location

Peridot can be found limping around, alternating between yelling at harmless objects, hiding from things like rain and loud noises, and pouting. Often she has a floating green screen up to rant at. It appears she is having a very drawn out and very mobile temper tantrum. Her attempts to find a way off Genessia or figure out things like street signs and organic life are not going well.

Beware flailing metal limbs and hurled objects when she's ranting and stomping about.

Wow you're green.
hero_for_fun: (Huh?)

I dunno...

[Saitama ponders her problems and comes up with one answer. Just one.]

Oh! Currency is what you buy things with.

Hey, you asked!

I dunno how to leave, everyone says we can't.

[Not that he's been trying very hard. It all seems as unreal as things did on Earth...]

Who's Yellow Diamond? Friend of yours?

Hey, a chance to be helpful! As Mr. Balderson had answered one question, he'd take the other.

"A 'child' is a member between birth and full growth. You can also use it as a pejorative, which you might need once 'clod' wears out."

"Hah, well done! Now all you need to do is find a youth, and you'll have known every facet of the word." Then again, given her eagerness to try out naughty words, maybe it's best to keep children's ears virginal.

"As for your more pressing question of how to leave, I could give you an answer, but it's largely theoretical, and dark besides. You may be too delicate for it, and others may be too courteous to offend said delicacy. Are you positively, absolutely desirous for it?"

"I wonder if you do need it; for all we know, your presence may be very necessary for some great and good work here, in which case your exit would be awful.

But if not, then here: my best guess.

If you want to leave, then you need only fall to despair. Typically by becoming disinterested in everything. Once you completely, absolutely tire of this existence, it will tire of you, then away you go."

"It's an answer, though I didn't say it was a good or agreeable one. By all means, don't take that path out. The only other way is to become a mystic sleuth; one who can pierce the great mysteries of the world. None have quite managed it, but who knows? You might.

Ah, so you're a servant. A rare trait; it seems most are too proud for that line of work. But what should you do if Ms. Diamond isn't here? Because, if you're anything like most, you're about to have a lot of time to think about ultimate purposes."

Ted's eyes perked up the more of her world's idiosyncrasies were told. Careful, or Ted will poke and prod about that place until even its own inhabitants grow bored. "I don't understand. All the work you do is for a certain person, and you are not their servant? What else, then? Are you not serving them? You seem very fixed on doing nothing else.

Ah, does Gem society have castes then? And I suppose Pearls are part of the lower? What functions do they serve?

Ah, I come from Earth! Or at least a similarly named sphere. What mission was so vital there?"

Ted did soften, trying to be comforting at her panic. "I know how hard it can be to be separate from hierarchy and normalcy. Maybe it might help to..." His eyes went to the side, looking thoughtful. "...use your imagination? If Ms. Diamond were here, what sort of work might she have you get up to?"

His eyes widened as her fingers floated freely, looking amazed and pointing. "And what's that? Do Gem digits come apart so easily? Is it telekinesis?"

Ted laughed. "'Useless servants'? It's a wonder they're still employed, if that's their estimate. And all they do is 'hold things'? Gem society invented bowls, I expect." He looked slightly more concerned, but no less curious about her mission. "A geoweapon? I've never heard of such a thing. Something capable of destruction on a planetary scale? An on Earth, no less? Why was it there?" By now it was clear Ted would never stop till she produced an encyclopedia. He appreciated that despite her annoyance, she was still so willing to talk. Very engaged, she. Very enthusiastic. But most were upon their first arrival. Once the shock wore off, would she still have any life, or drift away like so many others?

So she did what this Diamond person wanted out of, if not service, humility and natural deference to superiority. Seemed a difference without a difference, but it satisfied for now. "Ah, you have your mission: the fulfillment of curiosity. What a coincidence; it's mine too! And nearly everyone else's in all likelihood. Say, how adventurous are you? If even a little, I think I can help you do it, if only a little."
