ESCAPE ROOM DATES

WHO: Anyone who signed up for this event (sign-ups are now closed).
WHAT: Escape Room Dates, brought to you by Aphrodite's Matchmaking!
WHEN: Friday, July 8th around 3pm.
WHERE: Nova City, some warehouse-looking building.
WARNINGS: See individual scenarios for information.

All of the people involved in the escape room dates will arrive in what looks like some kind of abandoned warehouse. Everyone there is then broken up into the following pairs and walked into the warehouse, which looks a lot nicer inside. A couple of NPCs lead your characters to the right areas, then explain the scenario.

Once the scenarios are explained, the doors are locked and the scenario begins! RP with your characters and when your character decides to investigate one of the key items (listed in the scenario under your pair's thread) at which point put the item indicator letter in the subject line along with how your characters decide to interact with the key items! I'll reply with what information they can get from the item or what happens to the item based on whatever your character does.

"Special" events may happen throughout the course of the thread without prompting, so watch out for replies from Emerald. I'll be putting up the scenarios, but once your pair's is posted you're welcome to start the thread.

[ Yui looks confused. She hadn't exactly expected the date to go this way, but she was.. honestly used to things going completely nuts when they seemed straight-forward. The only difference is that this time there were no gods around. When Angelo asked the question, she started up, then decided it was best to just see where this took them. No sense in not having fun, even if it wasn't in the way she expected. A nod of determination came from her. ]

I know how to. What do you want me to do with it?

[ She wasn't sure what the plan was. Spraying the guards with it would only alert all the others that they were heading up and make it a chase, right..? ]

[Angelo thought this plan might be a little unorthodox, but it'll work. That was his idea anyway. In his opinion, it was the best way out of here.]

You're going to shake it very hard and fast firstly. Then you'll set it down before breaking it open with the hatchet that's next to it. From there, I'll use wind magic to blow the smoke at the guards to distract them. Make sure you take the hatchet too, that way we have something to help us.

[ that sounded like she could very well get sprayed with the fire extinguisher if she wasn't careful. But.. it was better than doing nothing. Yui quickly took her hair tie out of her hair and wrapped it around her hand so that she wouldn't get hurt breaking the glass. Her hair seemed much longer when it wasn't tied back. ]

Let's try it then.

[ And with that she's going over to retrieve the fire extinguisher and axe as quietly as she can. Once it's shaken she puts it on the ground and holds it steady with one foot so she can swing the axe at an arc to hit the side that's not facing her. There's a little scream when she does it and she stumbles back after she yanks the axe out, some of the fire extinguisher's contents having gotten on her foot and the axe for sure. She tries to get out of the way, running with the axe hugged to her chest while she does. ]

[Once Yui signals more or less that she's done it, Angelo quickly casts a powerful gust of wind to blow it at the guards who suddenly get confused amidst the smoke and everything else. They start coughing while Angelo finds Yui and gestures for her to follow him as closely as possible in a quick but quiet manner.]

Distraction Attempt: B

Success! The Guards can't see Yui and Angelo in the smoke and they make it to the next room. In the next room, it looks like the staircase has a huge hole in it, likely made from some kind of explosive. However, there is an elevator. The elevator appears to be turned off though. Perhaps there's some way to boot it up to get to the third floor then proceed to the roof?

A. Check out the vending machine.

B. The janitor's closet (locked).

C. Someone's office, though the door is cracked open.

D. The fire alarm.

[graduations]

[ Yui looks exhilarated that they actually made it, looking over at Angelo excitedly. ]

Ah, Angelo-san! We made it!

[ A bright smile pulls to her face before she spots the staircase. ] This must be another puzzle too, right? Maybe we can find a ladder to get over it... [ Yui starts looking around, trying the janitor's closet door but realizing it's locked. ] Where would we get a key..?

[Studying all the options carefully, Angelo notices the office and wonders if that is the best way. A vending machine nor a fire alarm would do them any good, and the janitor's closet was locked as Yui stated. So turning to look back at Yui, he gestures towards the office door.]

Perhaps the key is in that office. Though who knows, we might find something else in there. Stay on your guard.

Office!

It looks like there's someone in the office. There's a set of keys poking out of his back pocket. The office seems to be a bit of a mess, with some empty drink bottles in the trash can and a nearly empty one on the desk. There are papers everywhere and post-its for about three feet up the wall behind the desk.

[graduations]

[ Yui silently approaches the office, peeking through the crack before pulling back and looking at Angelo, mouthing that there's someone in there before stepping away five feet so they could whisper again. ]

There's a man in there with the key. I wonder if there's something we can do to get it from him. [ She's considering the fire alarm. Once they get the key, she thinks they should pull it to tell everyone to get out of the building to safety.. but if the guy with the key leaves first they won't get into the closet. ] You don't think he'd give it to us if we asked nicely, do you..?

[playboyknight]

[Once Yui's done talking, Angelo responds in his own whispering tone of voice.]

If he works for the gentleman causing all of this, it could be bad. I have a better idea. I'll sneak up on him and knock him unconscious then you take the keys and pull the alarm. Once everyone starts thinking there's a fire and runs out of the building, go use the keys on the closet and see if there isn't something to get the elevator running in there.

[graduations]

[ She holds up both of her hands in the 'stop' gesture. ]

It's a date, I'm not sure if knocking someone out is what you're supposed to do... [ She looks around again. ] He's almost out of soda, maybe we should get him one? Violence doesn't always have to be the answer, you know.

[playboyknight]

[He suddenly seems very disappointed. Oh well.]

I was hoping for the more impressive option, but we'll go with your plan instead.

Who are you hoping to impress with unnecessary violence?

[playboyknight]

[He grins at her.]

Well you of course.

[graduations]

[ She's not going to be rude, but she's definitely going to make her thoughts known, just as she would with anyone else. ]

A person who has strength and chooses not to show it until they need to is much more impressive than someone who shows their hand every chance they get. At least, that's what I believe.

[ Of course, Yui practices iaido- the sword style that relies on not moving until the exact moment it's needed. She's not calling herself impressive though (she would never), it's simply a style and creed she respects, particularly since her family cares for a shrine for a sword. ]

I doubt the man would volunteer to help on this date if he thought he was going to be pummeled, anyway...

[ She goes for her purse instead to take out a red bill for the machine. ]
