[When the feed clicks on Maribelle is seated at a simple booth, her umbrella resting next to her on the booth, and her free hand holding a cup of steaming tea.]
Hello my fellow kidnap victims, I am Maribelle.
[She sip her tea rather daintily before sitting it down and looking directly into the device.]
I won't mince words, or lament my current situation because there isn't really much to discuss. I'm a noblewoman of Ylisse, and I intend to look into the current state of the justice system of our new home. With so many people brought here from so many different realms I expect there might be a constant state of anarchy if not for rather strict law enforcement. Since I didn't see brawling in the streets and this city seems to be in relatively good spirits, I have to assume someone is doing their job rather well. I'd like to help if I can, but I suppose I'll need a bit more information before a jump headlong into any promises I can't keep.
[She sighs, and places her tea cup down on its saucer.]
I've read these instructions I've been started with, and they were decently comprehensive. I'd like to extend my gratitude to miss Weiss if she's still here, and I would be willing to accept recommendations on which districts of this city have the finest accommodations. I may not have been started with much in the way of funds, but I suspect with my natural talents and well breeding it shan't take me long to recoup my losses. If there are any members of the shepherds here, or the Ylisstan courts, I'd ask that they please contact me as soon as possible.
[She seems to hesitate for a moment or two before raising her hand to cover her face, a slightly pained look coming over her.]
I suppose that I should also mention that if there are any who remember me as a ship Captain may also feel free to contact me, though in truth I think I'd rather put that part of my life behind me.
[With a touch, Maribelle turns off her device and leans back in her booth. Not actually slouching because a noblewoman of Ylisse never slouches! For those of you who might be at the Cat's Eye Cafe, you may run into Maribelle mulling her situation over in a booth in the back, pondering over what she plans to do with her new life here.]

[ At least she's not offended, though she's not getting into exactly what that surgery is for - not right away, anyway. It's one thing to show people what she's working on first and then explain why, but somehow the other way around just doesn't seem like the type of casual conversation that one puts into meeting someone. ]
I... Was honestly unaware that we did not have one, but then again I cannot claim to have been here for very long. Was that something you worked much with before?
[There's a little smile on her face, trying to show that she can be playful about her desire for proper manners.]
According to the research I have done so far, it seems to be a field that many of the residents brought here seem to be lacking. Either that or they've never shown an active interest in pursuing it which is even worse! The courts might be run by the very original residents, but I can hardly imagine them being able to properly deal with cases that span multiple worlds of laws to consider. In order for Justice to be properly served, all sides must be equally represented and balanced.
In Ylisse I strove to fight against corruption in the noble courts, often giving unbalanced justice, and I eventually became a court magistrate of Ylisse.
If having a justice system means certain parties becoming incapable of bringing harm to others ever again, then you would have my full support in that endeavour. It may not reverse the damage already done, but preventing more is really what is important.

[Maribelle had not been a court magistrate of Ylisse and learned nothing. Her powers of perception were razor sharp and she could only assume from everything just said, the fact that this girl was out of work and going for surgery had to be connected. To many pieces clicked into place from what she'd been hearing around town, and it seemed Maribelle might have her very first case on her hands.]
[ She closes her eyes, taking a harsh and shuddering breath. Even if she doesn't say it, it might be obvious that she was one of the people hurt in some form by this. ]
Many would see vengeance done on him for such atrocity, and I would be lying if I said I did not wish the same on him even a little but... If your justice system can see to it that he never does so again? I can accept that as enough.
[What part she cannot say yet. She hasn't been presented with all the evidence, nor does she know the full story. However no matter what the truth behind all this may be, someone was responsible for the painful deaths of others here.]
[ She sighs, trying to swallow back the emotions brought up by the conversation. ]
Still... Your fury shows your kind and just heart, Lady Maribelle. For all those who would do such terrible things, we are in need of more like you in this place.

[There was an icy tone to her voice, the reason behind it being that she didn't feel death or life imprisonment was good enough for those crimes. There was also the slim possibility he was acting under duress and that the true mastermind behind these vile acts was sitting back and plotting again. That was something she would not and could not allow.]

You are kind to say as such, but I fear that there are less who would agree with you than I'd care to admit from what I've experienced in my travels.
[So... many... PIRATES!]
Whether they agree or not hardly matters. My mind is my own, and that is how I see it. I am certain there are others who would say the same as well.
I can appreciate your individuality, but I might suggest you stay on your toes. If others think that way it could directly effect you. Death as I hear is not permanent here and killing him may simply set him loose again.
If there is a trial, you and others may even be called as witnesses.
[ A little huff of a sigh, she's not offended but the situation that led to this conversation is still kind of frustrating for her. ]
Have you found a place to stay as of yet?
[She paused for a moment, thinking carefully before bringing up the touchy subject.]
You mentioned you're going in for surgery correct? You may not know this, but I'm one of the most powerful healers in my world. Would you like me to examine you? There may be something I can do that your typical doctor or physician could not.
[ She's speaking frankly now, because at this point there's no point in hiding it. She'll shift the communicator so that the port is on screen now. ]
The surgery is to attach this. This will allow me to wear a special kind of false leg, and should everything work, I will be able to walk as one normally would again.
[She paused to think about it, then grimaced.]
It may sound rather ghastly of me to ask, but what about the original leg? If it was preserved, it might be possible for me to reattach it.

[ That's a small laugh from her. ]
I suppose we will both have to look out for him in that regard.
[Uh oh, that face can't be good.]
So, Adela dear... are there any other ways you would like to look after Smoker?
What do you mean?
You're an attractive young woman, and he's quite a catch for any woman. Have you never thought of him that way before?
Of course not! I mean, he is very nice of course, but I have not! The man is old enough to be my father, and... It... It just would not be appropriate!!
[ BEET RED. Holy crap. What is with people and accusing her of having crushes on the men she knows!?
... Granted one has been... Correct... So far... BUT STILL! ]
I don't think age is as much of a gap as you think it is. You wouldn't believe tne number of political marriages I've seen between men in their fifties or sixties and women who just hit puberty.
[Medival times and all that.]
What's really important here is compatibility!
