[he takes some time to peruse the materials, listen to the hologram, and note maps and things, all the while bemused. He would say it was a dream only he can't remember the last time he's slept. And in that other sleep he doesn't dream, thank whoever, so he knows it's not that.

So a kidnapping, is it? The Soul Court is going to be pissed. Joseph can't help but smirk a little at that. He's glad and a little apprehensive to have slipped the leash for a while.

He mulls a little over what he finds and then decides to see who or what else is out there. It feels a little awkward introducing himself; like those college orientation classes all over again. But a bit of awkwardness never hurt anyone.

Still when the feed clicks on he's standing a little stiffly, gloved hand on the sleek black sheathed sword at his side.]

Yes, I eat them, but act as more of a conduit. And it's essential. Spirits that are left too long become malevolent over time.

I'm just saying, that's more of an execution squad than a police force.

[Not that there's any amount of judging in his voice. He used to be a part of a one-man execution squad, after all.]

It's not. [sigh.] My body acts as a conduit to relieve a ghost of excess energy so it can be contained. Then I bring it to the Soul Court and the Gate. From there, the afterlife. You can't kill what's already dead.

That's impossible. A soul at it's very foundation is simply phased energy and you can't destroy energy, merely disperse it.

And you can consume it. Sure, it's not destroyed, but it's not who it used to be anymore.

Right on. As long as you're sure about that.

[He shrugs. He's not going to question some other world's rules. He's just got first-hand experience with getting told one thing in training, only to find out the truth is very different.]

I am. Absolutely. [because if he wasn't there was no meaning to his unlife]

Right on. [He nods.] It's important to have something to believe in. At least that's what they say. [And he shrugs.]

[it had felt good in his head to say but out loud is an entirely different matter altogether. His ears redden a little and he looks down]
