[A man glanced around and took shaky, shallow breaths, with eyes as wide as saucers. Behind him was some part of the forest in Fayren but, even in the coming evening gloom, it was apparent something had happened.
The trees were scorched, but there was no fire. They were drenched, but they weren't next to any apparent water. And, on top of that, something had ripped through some of them and torn a few in half.
Bracken was unscathed even if he looked alarmed. He clung to his staff like he needed it to live, and otherwise had some plain looking but clean robes. The only notable thing would be the necklace tied to his belt, rather than placed around his neck.]
H-Help! A, A little girl is after m-me!
[His voice was tense and manic with fear.]
[Action - Fayren]
[Bracken wasn't particularly hiding. Anyone could stumble up on him if they wanted.
They wouldn't find any little girls anywhere. She didn't exist. The damage done to that piece of the forest, however, was very real, and was only around the area that Bracken was standing.
Rather than introducing himself, he had managed to find an area that looked most familiar to him and wandered there. And there was no reason to stop him - he was quiet and wasn't causing any trouble. But after meandering into the forest for a while, well, somehow this had come about...]

[He dug into his pocket to pull it out and glance down at it. Chances were he wouldn't get through it and would learn from other people, but he would try. He just felt like something wasn't making sense. No matter how he thought of a ball or a pancake or anything, it always had another side. He couldn't picture it without another side.
He stared at the ground for a moment while he tried to figure it out, but eventually he gave up and his mind turned back to his friends.]
Is... Is there a place, to send mail to o-other worlds?
[Action]
[Airy's smile falls completely and her easy demeanor becomes tense. She really wishes he'd read some of the packet or listened to the hologram of Weiss that plays at the front of the Bay, they all say the same things and she feels bad for having to be the one to tell him.]
I'm sorry.
[Action]
There's... There's no place good? With magic? Or... Or, someplace quiet?
[Action]
[What she does isn't exactly magic but if it makes him feel at home.
Airy kneels down and places two fingers in the water. She focuses on the feeling against her fingertips and then imagine what she's trying to do in her head. Slowly rainbow color bubbles begin to rise from the pool, drifting lazily around the room.]
It's not that impressive but I'm good at making bubbles.
[She likes bubbles.]
[Action]
Th-They're nice!
[He wasn't particularly difficult to please. Really, he loved looking as pretty things like that. It looked like custom magic, like Hatter used to be flashy and entertain.]
I-I can...
[He paused to look around. He wanted to show her, but after his mishap with the trees he knew better than to cast magic around carelessly, lest he destroy a bunch of stuff. He didn't want to break her bubbles, but they were standing by the bay so there was a lot of water around in big open spaces.
Moving further to the side, he drew on some magic to show her. It was as natural to him as breathing, didn't take much thought beyond knowing what he wanted to use. Warm air seemed to gather around him for a moment, and then many yards ahead a waterspout grew from the water.
Some might find it pretty, in a way, but it was clear what it was meant to do. It looked like it would tear apart anyone or anything that happened to come near it. It was a wild torrent that whipped around dangerously, ready to do harm like most of his spells were.
Luckily, nothing was where he cast it, so nothing bad happened.
He looked back her way where, fortunately, the bubbles weren't being harmed, even if there did seem to be a mist of water spraying around from it. He smiled nervously.]
M-My spells are like this.
[Action]
That's so cool.
Where do you draw the energy to cast from?
[She's watched Rachel cast her magic though it isn't nearly as powerful.]
[Action]
[His world was different in that regard. It didn't tire him, nor did he have something like limited MP. For a moment he tried to understand what she was getting at, but then he thought he figured it out, and smiled with a small shake of his head. He'd heard people discuss things like that.]
N-No. No energy. It just... It just does what I want.
[Even though he didn't need it to cast a spell, technically, he caught himself holding his staff up out of habit and brought it down, letting the spell melt away from his mind and, consequently, disintegrating. The water continued to swirl but quickly fell from the air and plopped back down into the bay.]
Different sp-spellcasters have different s...
[He paused and took a breath. He was saying a few big words in a row there and it was easy to mess up.]
Different strengths. S-Some... cast lots of spells a-at the same time. I... I just cast one. But, mine is stronger.
[Having gotten it out, he let out a gentle sigh of relief and smiled at her. Spells weren't limited in the stereotypical ways, but rather limited and balanced based on quantity and strength, as well as what type could be cast.
Still, he was rather happy that she liked the spell. He was pretty eager to please and any success in that area made him happy.]
[Action]
His explanation about his magic is about as lack luster as when she asked him to describe what's around him. It isn't a strength and she's finding it a little cute though it's constantly leaving her confused.]
I think I got it.
[No, she doesn't.]
What else can you do?
[Action]
He accepted it wholeheartedly when she said she understood, though, and was almost surprised. In no way did he think it was his specialty, either.]
Well, I can...
[His eyes turned back to the water. It seemed to be a safe place to do things. With natural skill that he didn't have in other areas, he waved a hand and a small wall of flame flew across the water for a few yards.
After watching it for a few seconds, he turned back to her.]
Y-Your bubbles... Are you an enter, entertainer?
[Action]
No, I just like bubbles. Officially I'm what a lot of people call a Creator.
[A lot of people who give her a lot of responsibility.]
I've never met anyone like me. My magic doesn't work like most peoples.
[Action]
'Creator' was completely new to him. He assumed it was some other type of spellcaster. Either way, he took a few steps back over to her.]
Well... I like y-your magic.
[Both hands on his staff, he leaned on it a bit, more relaxed than before.]
[Action]
Thank you.
[She pauses for a moment and then flushes a bright rosy red.]
I didn't ask you your name. I'm so sorry. I'm Airy.
[Has she said that? She doesn't remember his name and she feels awful about it.]
[Action]
[He stiffened up, realizing he hadn't heard her name before. He was so distracted that he hadn't asked. That was at least as much his fault as hers.]
I'm B-Bracken. And...
[What else to say? He wasn't any good at this. He scraped the ground with the end of his staff, glancing at the water as he tried to come up with something.]
[Action]
No 'and' needed. Bracken. [She wants to make sure she's saying his name correctly.]
I can walk you to the inn if you want some company.
[She has things to do today but she's on her own schedule.]
[Action]
I'd... I'd like that.
[That was easy enough. He exhaled and let the tension drain from him, ready to follow Airy wherever she led him.]
C-Can you make more bubbles?
[Action]
I can, they'll even follow us.
[She focuses again and one by one the round spheres begin to appear around her.]
[Action]
Simple pleasures. He let out dopey laugh before settling down a bit and enjoying them in a more restrained way. Though he stayed with her, he showed a clear tendency to stay just a little bit behind.]
[Action]
I'm glad you like them.
[She really is.]
[Action]
I-It's a nice spell. Are... Are they only for fun?
[It wouldn't be the first time he'd seen a spell that had no practical use, but they were rarer. Most people made them for specific purposes.]
[Action]
[It's a lot harder than you'd think.]
It's not technically a spell.
[Action]
Do you... Do you really have t-to think, the whole time?
[That's what it sounded like.]
[Action]
[Her abilities are weird like that.]
[Action]
[He doubted he could do the same. He had his strengths, but intense concentration wasn't one of them - in most cases.]
[Action]
[Plus to create something accurately she has to know how it's formed which is it's own challenge.]
[Action]
I think... I think that sounds r-really smart.
