[Backdated to turkey day.

He kicked them out of the Winchester house fairly early with excuses because (a)Yes, he still likes surprising them. and (b)He can't do the mass of shit he has to do today with them under his feet.

It takes him all day to get everything done he needs to, including three trips to the store because he kept forgetting things or running out (and he's about ready to kill some somebody in the store on the second trip, so the third is a brief and impatient encounter.

But he gets it all done, and he finally sends them a text to tell them they can come home now before collapsing on the sofa to rest before they get home. Now he just has to hope they didn't eat out. Not that, you know, he was exactly subtle about the fact he was planning something. Hopefully they knew him well enough to guess. There's a little too much here for just him. Or, you know, a small army.]

[To be fair, you wouldn't know it by the way he treats her either, really. He's trying to work up some semblance of a flustered defence when she drops it anyway.

I still think you should have called us though. I think for Christmas, we should all cook.

...I'm not going to argue with either of those statements. I may even take Christmas off. [He teases - you both know it ain't gonna happen - as pulls the cover back over the girl carefully as she shifts and stirs, and then he lets mom lead him into the kitchen. He pulls a chair for her and goes for the knife and carving fork.
