1st Tomoe | Open Action, Genessia Bay
[ A necklace with stones, including a large green one. An illusion he couldn't break, and pamphlets saying that he's trapped in some strange place called Genessia.
All of it has one young teenager completely on edge, and he's looking around even as he takes all of his 'things' and makes his way to the mouth of the cave at the bay.
Before he can do much of anything else however, the sound of footsteps from outside having him tense for a split second before he acts. Without further hesitation he scales the wall, running straight up and hiding in a darker part of the ceiling, carefully drawing a kunai from his pouch and watching carefully.
Even with all of the information claiming that this place is safe, he can't afford to die here or even to let his guard down. ]

"No. What's a Pokémon?"

"Pokémon are a large menagerie of flora and fauna, mighty and intelligent, disposed to violence as sport. Curiously they speak by repeating their names with various pitches and intonations, all of which involve wordplay. For all that, they appear to have no trouble understanding each other or us; would that their hapless owners so aurally able. Mine seems to have taken a liking to you, if his countenance is any indication." Granted, Gengar smiled all the time, but it still counts.
"So, ah, what's your name?"

He really wasn't in the mood for words, still looking between the two of them once he gave his one-word answer. The sooner he could find a way out of there, the better. Preferably away from the annoying blond man.

Genessia seemed to have a great fondness for the Japanese, or at least those with oriental names.
"Hello, Sasuke. What does that mean, by the way?" Figuring he wouldn't get much of an answer, he'd move on to the general courtesies.
"Well, is there anything you need help with? I've been here a good while yet."
no subject
It would probably put Ted off a great deal that Sasuke was not even being somewhat polite, figuring that he could get information from someone not in league with the creepy smiling ghost creature.

Gengar is adorable he'll have you know!"Ah, then I'll be expecting great things from you." Ted's the kind to assume the whole experience put Sasuke on edge; it'd probably wear off once he got time to adjust.
"Heh, all right. Suppose all one needs are food and raiment. Well, anything you'd like, then? I might be able to oblige."

Such independence! Ted's impressed. An outdoorsman? He'll probably be making campfires, hunting wildlife, and sleeping under the stars. Ah, to be young and romantic and...
Wait.
"Hold on!" Ted's running to catch up. "Just how young are you, young man?" The public has a right to know.
no subject
"Thirteen."
no subject
Ted crossed his arms in thought. "Thirteen, eh?" That explains the attitude. An edge case of an age. In his experience, younger children were more pliable and obedient and at least kind of cute. He's got the usual rebellious air. Should he let him go?
Better safe than sorry, err on the side of caution, etc.
"In that case, you should come with me. I'll be happy to escort you to the K&H Home for Children. It's a good place, and I'm on good terms with the ones behind it."
no subject
He couldn't stop his eye from twitching at the suggestion. Wait, is he suggesting that...
"No thanks. I don't need it."
no subject
'No thanks', he says. That's polite, so Ted feels he's already making progress. Maybe he's not such a bad-mannered brat after all. But if he's anything like Ted was when he was thirteen, he probably doesn't know what's good for him. Time to be persistent, per his elders.
"Is that so? You've got a means of employment, then? Got the lay of the land in under an hour? Got a group to look out for you, perhaps?" Boy would Ted be surprised if he actually answered these rhetorical questions.
"Come on, it won't cost you but a bit of time. It's free lodging and even spending money, if nothing else, and no strings attached besides. Questionably sane policy, but there's no downside."

Oops, bad move. "Provoke not your children to anger". What did conscience dictate? He's made every entreaty. Well, all except that one.
"Apologies; I don't mean to disparage. But here, most respectable people won't hire minors on principle. My own world would abhor the very idea of letting someone so young gp unattended. Please, if only to ease my own conscience, give it a try?"

Sasuke was still glaring, feeling his temper flaring further but doing his best to keep a lid on it. It wouldn't help him to start a fight here, even if this guy was really starting to piss him off. That he was seriously treating him like a child was downright insulting.
"And I don't owe you a thing."
no subject
"You'd get a favor, then." After that, Ted's out of diplomacy. Now he's lost in thought, gaming scenarios and trying to remember what, if anything, applied to the ethical riddle of finding a stubborn teenager sans parents.
He's lost in thought so long that Sasuke could easily make an exit. He wouldn't even have to be subtle.

Which meant that, by the time Ted would look back and pay attention to him, the young boy would be long gone.
