11: Acceptance - Anonymous Text, Action for Nova City (July 20th, All Day)

[ This is a hard text to send. It's been a couple of days since that talk, and it hasn't gotten any easier. Work has been helping keep her mind off of it, but she still has to ask.

Anonymous texting time is a go! ]

I need to overcome the feelings I have for a close friend. Is there anything any of you can suggest that may help in doing so?

[ It's a day off, and a rare time when Adela doesn't have her new puppy on her or her digimon at her side. Instead she's decided to explore Nova City a bit, wearing something decidedly more casual than she normally wears. It helps when the weather is hot.

There are a few places she goes to stay out of the sun, from Figurine Fables to visit a familiar friend, to the After Life to visit yet another friend (or perhaps more), to the museum to learn more of all of the cities and the worlds of the inhabitants, to the planetarium, allowing her the fascination of space, and to a simple mall food court that will allow her to cool off and replenish. It all keeps her from staying in the sun for too long, and at the very least is enriching and keeping her mind clear of other problems for the moment.

It's not exactly easy to get around in a wheelchair, but she's made bigger adaptations befpre and experiences like this are still worth the trip. ]

Oh. Prayer helps, like with anything. But in my experience feelings are as fickle as they are enduring. All one can do is disassociate; avoid as much as one can things that might rouse them. Of course, nature abhors a vacuum, so you'll have to find something else to occupy a similar spot.

The person I speak of has enough to deal with without my feelings coming to light for him. I would not wish any additional burdens on him if possible.

Because he has enough to deal with aside from me and how I feel.

That aside, I consider him a very close friend. I feel that pursuing any feelings of romance could change things too much when it comes to that.

Try to associate them with something you would not want to romance. A sibling or family member perhaps, or if that doesn't work you could also try finding someone else with who you feel you might be compatible. It's not always the best alternative, but if you do not want a relationship with your friend of that nature...

[Maribelle takes a moment to think a bit more about this. She'd had a rather long talk with Smoker about a situation very similar to this with Adela and Ace, so she didn't want to steer the anon in a direction that was completely identical or anything.]

You could also consider trying to get your friend hooked up with somebody. If they have a significant other, you might be less tempted to pursue them yourself, but that can lead to problems in itself if you start getting jealous.

[ She has to sigh at the text, though she feels a little less lost reading it. It seems genuine and surprisingly understanding of the situation, which makes it just a little less difficult. ]

They all seem like good ideas - save for perhaps finding someone else for me. It does not seem wise to do so, not so soon while I still have an attraction to the friend in question.

As for 'hooking him up' with someone else... I am not certain if that is even what he wants. He is hard to predict even at the best of times, and I gave him my word I would not try to force things upon him as his friend.

Bakura was sitting in his usual spot at the front counter. Today he was working on something at his post. Rather than be in the back alone with his thoughts. He took each day in stride and while he couldn't say that he could just walk away from everything that had happened unscathed, it helped sometimes to be around people.

And the thing was, he's always considered himself more withdrawn that his other friends. Of course, with the spirit of the ring always a threat, he hadn't had a lot of ways to explore who he was.

Knock knock. Adela was a little hesitant to approach at first, but soon enough she was smiling and waving in greeting before wheeling her way over to him. It had been a while, and it would probably be good to see one of her tamer friends again.

He is still a good friend of mine and I do not want to exclude him from my life, but I must find a way to let these feelings go.

[At some point they happen to cross paths in the streets. It's too bad Namur doesn't know her scent, yet, he'd have known before hand that she was coming. But he recognizes the chair! So hey, there's that. He'd surprise her by grabbing the handles of her chair and spinning her, but let's be real. He's about two feet taller than most everyone else, with vibrant blue skin and a face fit for a horror house. Whether they realize it or not, people give him a wide berth. She could probably see him coming before he saw her. When he does though, he squints, then lifts his chin in greeting.]

[ It'd be impossible to mistake him for anyone else. She waves in return, then pushes herself over to him so that they don't have to yell in order to have a conversation. Goodness he's tall though... ]
