[Action/Video] Exploration - Old Hell
Who: Anastasia, and everyone who loves adventure, or likes to watch adventure via videophone
Where: Chireiden Sub Archway
What: She wants to explore!
When: July 26th
Notes: Cri will be GM'ing the adventure. You can either join her or "rescue" her (Action) or talk to/cheer on/tease her over the videophone (Video)
[Anastasia hates the summer, for her people evolved for a tundra climate and no tolerance for heat. During this awful time, she ends up trapped inside of homes for months at a time until the temperature becomes more favorable. But this time will be different. She was a 13 year old Princess and she can't ignore the need to be free.
Having already explored the other cities, except for Everglade, she knew exactly where she was going to explore. She set out from Nova City for a long, prepared flight, without telling her immediate guardian, Satsuki. Though it was hard on her, Anastasia made it to her destination: The Chireiden Sub Archway. It was nice, dark and cold. A perfect environment for her.
She didn't come alone, though. As she arrives at a circular courtyard that was the Chireiden mansion's front yard, she brings out a pokeball, releasing the creature inside. She had come with her Sylveon. This could be a potentially dangerous exploration adventure, so she takes her videophone and turns it on to a public broadcast. She doesn't mind if Satsuki sees this, she's going to be in trouble anyway for sneaking out. Anastasia gave the videophone, now broadcasting publicly for anyone who wants to watch a 13 year old girl try to act tough, to Sylveon, who held onto it with its feelers.]
"...I cannot stand being stuck inside for so long. ...I'm broadcasting an exploration of 'Old Hell,' just in case anything goes wrong."
[With just her sword and her magic, Anastasia sets out through the gates on her little exploration adventure, followed by her faithful camera crew, Sylvia the Sylveon.
However, she doesn't get very far, barely even a few steps.]
"...Though I suppose I can't get very far without light."

Oh hell naw [Video/Action]
Obviously it's okay when he does it, though, with a frostbrand on his right side and Gengar on his left. He's been here enough. Too often, really. Normally he wouldn't be caught dead in a subarchway, even one as suitably named as "Old Hell", but if it's for the sake of rescue, so be it. Just one more reason these evil things need to be taken down, and fast.
Gengar could move wonderfully fast among the shadows, his domain, so Ted sent him to scout ahead. He moved a very bright light to the forefront of his bag, letting it light the way while he kept his sword arm steady and his piece at the ready. He's also steeling his resolve, ready to take this stupid girl out of here kicking and screaming if he has to. On public airwaves, no less. Fingers crossed there's something better on television.
[Action]
Anastasia spent several minutes looking around, finding little relics from the past and trying to piece together the history. She couldn't tell if it was a good thing that she, as a Princess, raised in a clean and protected environment, had no problems walking around a dirty cave.
But then, she noticed a light coming from the direction she came from, hinted by a shadow of herself that was gradually becoming more defined. She stopped and looked towards the light at the end of the tunnel. Was someone coming? And more importantly, were they friendly? She stayed put and waited to see.]

She brightened a bit more. "Be careful though. A lot of old hell's monsters are blind, but the ones that can see will go for the light. Also, you should take a snack with you. You never know when you might want one."
--------
There wasn't anything in particular around. Just Chireiden's front yard. If she wanted to she could probably walk around to the back and take some fruit if she so chose. Satori's pets were numerous but they wouldn't bother her.
The orbs of light were exactly where Koishi said they would be, sitting next to several coils of cords and poles of various lengths. They resembled the outdoor heat lamps used to light the courtyard. Fortunately, these appeared to have a handle on the back, the hell metal warm to the touch. The sisters had mentioned at one point the metal was resistant to both heat and cold.
Beyond the front gates of Chireiden, the ancient city shined in the distance straight ahead. It was clearly the brightest thing in the dark and would provide quite a bit of adventure, though brawling with Oni probably wasn't the smartest thing. She might be able to convince a few to come along if she didn't mind sharing the glory.
Anastasia could also see several other lights in the distance, some more faint than others. A faint red glow quite a ways away in one direction. A brighter, and closer blueish glow in another. The darkness seemed almost thick, making the lights hazy. It was impossible to tell exactly what they were at such a distance. There were also various distant pinpricks and faint glows, so obscured it was hard to tell if they were real or imagination.
Action
Meanwhile, Ted's left to his own devices. His Nova City devices, where much of his paycheck and seedy connections to Satsuki had gone. The latest in mantracking tech: heat signatures, footprints, sound waves, you name it. He knew this junk would come in handy one day!
[OOC: Just playing bloodhound w/ Gengar and toys.]
Action
The brightness of these lights seemed so close, but it was in fact pretty far. But eventually, she got close enough to make out certain features.]
"Is this a city? It's not like any I've seen before..."

It was dangerous though. The oni would often fight and throw each other to the ground. As she approached she'll see the violence and debauchery that leaked out into the streets. Fortunately none of them seemed interested in a little human girl. Perhaps she would find something or someone worth her time here. Hell was, after all, a big place.
no subject
So he'll walk right into the middle of them, too upset to be scared, and shout. "Hello! Has anyone seen a small, human girl about?"
no subject
Before long, she heard a voice that didn't sound drunk, and she followed it. She found the source to be none other than Theodore Satchel, and she was quick to slip away and hide as he asks about a human girl.
Did this guy seriously follow her?]

However all of Ted's shouting did cause a shift in the oni, a particularly grumpy looking blue one lumbering over and grabbing Ted by the shirt. The move didn't seem aggressive but it certainly wasn't friendly.
"Wher'dya git off shoutin like that?" His speech was slurred but he was still understandable.
"Oi!" Another shouted. It came from behind Anastasia. "You're awfully tiny lass." This one was red skinned with tusks and seemed slightly less drunk. Or at least more coherent. "T'aint no eye-devil 'neither. What're you doing down here?"
no subject
For a moment, Ted dared to hope these oni might be benevolent. But it was only a moment; the thought throbbed to the forefront of his mind that they weren't oni. They weren't anything but illusion made flesh. Maybe they could at least be useful illusions.
It honestly surprised him that he didn't provoke a city-wide brawl just by showing up in the open. This probably meant Anastasia was safe; but for how much longer?
He was nonchalant about his uplifted state. He could feel the threads of his horrible new 3-star uniform tense and coil and writhe around his chest, instinctively preparing for a perceived fight. "She's lost, and I must return her to safety." His bravery, if he had any, came from being chilled at the false creature before him.

"Um, I'm exploring. I came to see Old Hell."
no subject
"Got balls though. Like that in a human so I won' pop yer skull." Wow. How considerate...
The one talking o Anstasia just grinned. "Courage is a rare trait lass. But it's foolish for such a tiny human to go alone. Me an' a group were going to go hunting if'n you want to tag along. But only if ya can hold yer own. Don't need a useless human to protect."

[Anastasia is confident she can hold her own, but she would rather not join in any killing of animals unless it was for food.]

Video
Hey, isn't there any safer, less ominous sounding places you could explore?
Video
"Oh, hello there. I have already explored the other cities, except for Everglade. Some of them more than once. And Old Hell was the first one that came to mind."
Video
[The camera shifts focus from the spiky-haired teen to the ceiling. A faint rustling sound could be heard somewhere off screen and once it stopped, the teenager came back in view.]
Take a look at these.
[Touma shows her a small pile of badly crinkled brochures. With his free hand, he takes one from the pile and begins thumbing through it.]
Umm...how about this little sweets cafe? Have you been there before?
Video
"The sweets cafe? I have passed it, never going in to view the sweets themselves. I try to avoid them except for special occasions."
Video
[The power of sweets have failed him.]
How about we find something different then?
[He discards the brochure and chooses another one from the pile.]
This one looks interesting.
[The page features a futuristic game store highlighting their "Innovative Spin On Beloved Classics!" and "New Original Games From The Far Future!" ]
Video
[She considered it thoughtfully for a moment.]
"...You know, I have tried video games before, but I was not able to find one that really suits me. ...I will admit, I did not look hard as I did not want to stay in a store for so long without buying."
Video
Well, fortunately for you, I happen to be very familiar with video games. With my help, I'm sure we can find one that you'll enjoy. I'll even buy whatever game you chose. So, what do you say? Do you want to go explore the amazing world of video games?
[Touma makes a mental note to get a job after this. His promise is going to put a massive strain on his almost nonexistent finances.]
Video
[Hopefully that was quiet enough. Anastasia quietly thought about it, looking out into the dark endlessness of Old Hell and back to the videophone. She could either test her mettle or risk her magic going out of control and blowing up in her face.
Perhaps she'll wait until after she finds a fix for that condition.]
"...Very well. I accept your offer. My name is Anastasia."
Video
Nice to meet you, Anastasia. I'm Kamijou Touma. I hope you're excited to learn why us boys love our video games.
[He grins.]
Do you want me to come pick you up?
Video
"Sure, okay. But give me some time. I get sick very easily in summer weather."
Video
[In the meantime, Touma is going to take the opportunity to buy her an umbrella at a local convenience store. It'll be made of incredibly cheap material and would probably fold even against a gentle breeze, but it'll at least help keep the summer heat off her.]
