[Karla begins her feed, looking contemplative.]
Hmm...I am curious about something. Many people here have some sort of...super powers or special abilities...whatever you happen to call them. How does one develop those abilities? Is one born with them, or are they developed through training? We have mages in my world...but they are not fighters.
[It feels strange to be asking this. Back home, she wouldn't have even given these abilities a single thought. Hell, even without powers, her strength had been considered "inhuman" to the normal population. But here, with people like Battler and Freeza, she realizes she's at a severe disadvantage.]
Would it be possible for one like me to learn these...special powers, to augment my skill with the sword? If not, I suppose I'll have to step up my skill alone...practice fighting against opponents with such abilities.
...Thank you for your time.

You don't sound very convinced. Look, I know it can be very discouraging when faced with such ridiculously powerful monsters, but there are more ways to protect others than the ability to match those monsters in a fight. And not only that, you don't have to do it alone. There are plenty of people here who would be willing to lend you a hand and wouldn't think any lesser of you for asking.
Video
I'm sorry...I know you mean well when you say that...and it may very well be true. But the circumstances of my becoming a Deputy Guardian were...less than ideal...
Video
What do you mean?
Video
Well...the only way to really answer that is to tell you everything. So...
Just before the election, they open nominations for candidates. Anyone can nominate themselves or others. I hadn't planned on running, but much to my surprise, I received an anonymous nomination for Guardianship of Genessia City. The foolish thing that I was, I accepted the nomination, despite the fact that I had no idea what I would do as a Guardian.
Then I had a talk with David Haller, who's been Genessia City's Guardian for some time now. He suspected that the anonymous nominator was Roman Torchwick, who was a notorious criminal in his home world...and I had heard that he had committed crimes in this world as well. David believed that Roman only nominated me so that he could use me. I can't confirm if it's true or not, or what Roman hoped to gain by using me. But in either case, it was clear that I didn't have what it takes to be Guardian, or even the desire to be one. So I withdrew from the election, and David offered me the Deputy Guardian position, so that I could learn what it means to be a Guardian.

This David person must have saw something amazing in you to offer you that position. If you truly had no potential or were undeserving of your title, do you honestly believed that he would have done that after you had withdrew from the election? Deputy Guardian is not a title you can just carelessly hand over to anybody that comes along.
And maybe you're right about not being able take on the full responsibilities of a Guardian. After all, that was the purpose of you taking the Deputy Guardian position. However, saying you didn't have any desire to be a Guardian is a damn lie. Because if that was true, why did you accept David's offer to begin with? What would be the point of burdening yourself with the position and the responsibility it entailed to learn about something you loss interest in? Why are you so worried about not living up to the expectations of your current title when it would be much easier to just abandon it all? For someone who said they held no desire for being a Guardian, you sure make some very contradictory decisions.
[Although his tone isn't harsh, there is a certain firmness to it.]
You don't need any special titles in order to protect those around you. So answer me this one question; why did you accept the nomination for Guardianship to begin with?

[She's just a girl in her own little bubble, drawn to battle, despite the fact that she hates it. But beyond the sword arts, she really doesn't have any other skills.]
[She also listens closely to all of his questions, and even lets out a sad laugh at one of his statements. Here's another person who can see right through her.]
Contradictory decisions...I do that a lot. The thing is...there's only one thing that I really want, but can't find in Genessia. So while I'm stuck here...I'm still trying to find what I want to do with myself. So I have to take leaps...to see if something is right for me or not. As far as this position is concerned, I'm giving myself until the next election. If it isn't right for me, then I'll step down...
Video
[Touma gives her a hard stare.]
Should you choice to abandon your position, I want you to do so because you truly want to; not because you believe yourself to be unworthy or a burden to those you want to protect. You need to understand what David saw in you. So instead of chasing after power-ups, you should be spending these upcoming days to election trying to discover what he found. As you are right now, even if you succeeded in gathering enough power to challenge monsters, it would do nothing to banish those doubts lurking within your heart.
[His gaze softens.]
Please promise me you'll consider it.
Video
[She lets out a thoughtful hum as she mulls over everything. She's aware of all this already, that no amount of power can remove her doubts. It's not even that she wants the power, but some of the tyrants that have arrived lately won't be beaten by her sword alone.]
[As for what David saw in her, it's easy enough to ask, but even if he told her, she probably still wouldn't see it for herself. But perhaps it might give her a direction?]
All right... Just...where do I even begin...?
