Hmm...I am curious about something. Many people here have some sort of...super powers or special abilities...whatever you happen to call them. How does one develop those abilities? Is one born with them, or are they developed through training? We have mages in my world...but they are not fighters.

[It feels strange to be asking this. Back home, she wouldn't have even given these abilities a single thought. Hell, even without powers, her strength had been considered "inhuman" to the normal population. But here, with people like Battler and Freeza, she realizes she's at a severe disadvantage.]

Would it be possible for one like me to learn these...special powers, to augment my skill with the sword? If not, I suppose I'll have to step up my skill alone...practice fighting against opponents with such abilities.

That's precisely what this is. We call it lucemite, and I may have snatched an entire box of it from a subarchway.

I've got this stuff in my veins, so it gives me magic and keeps me alive. If you're serious about some augmenting, I may be able to help.

A friend of mine has a rapier augmented with the stuff. I can borrow it off of him so you can give it a shot.

[Of course, this 'friend' doesn't actually exist, and it's a rapier he had made in the subarchway, but he's content on keeping that a secret from her. At least for the time being. No one needs to know about Kharon yet.]

A rapier, huh? I suppose it can work for this experiment...

[Although the rapier is more for stabbing than slashing, which requires an entirely different swordplay technique. Hopefully Karla can augment her own sword with these crystals, or at least find a more similar sword with it.]

All ya really need it for is to determine how well you can wield the lucemite's magic. It'll feel a little awkward if you swing it around like your usual sword, but like you said, it'll work for the experiment.

And if it works out, we'll see how we can go about gettin' your own blade augmented if you want it. Simple as that.
