video; forward-dated to after sundown
[Charles is sitting at a table in what is clearly one of the rooms at the Amagi Inn, sipping from a cup, but the angle doesn't afford one a view of what liquid he may be drinking, only that the cup is steaming.]
I don't recall subscribing to the Newspaper, though knowing one exists is fortunate. I find it interesting the political structure of this place openly employs the use of bounty hunters to shore up at least some of its ne'er do wells. While the practice of hunting bounties isn't illegal in my own world, it isn't precisely advertised in the local paper, as it were.
[He waves a hand as though dismissing his own derailed train of thought.]
Be that as it may, it's come to my attention, while rather comfortable, the Amagi Inn will not, after all, suffice as a long-term arrangement. Do any of you know of an apartment complex or similar in any of the cities which would allow the installation of storm shutters?
[He pauses here, as though allowing a moment to pass before changing subjects again.]
Also, I've taken a position at the Genessia Scientific Research Foundation. My areas of expertise lie in Xenobiology and Archaeology, and I hope to assist with these fields in understanding what it is that attracts this place to us precisely. While I have had at least one assume this means I specialize in the biology of foreigners, I would clarify that I specialize in the unique biologies of non-humans. Werewolves, Fae, vampires, imps, ad infinatum. I've also more than dabbled in the medical sciences, and would like to offer my services to anyone who may feel their own biology is too...unique to trust to a mundane physician. My only stipulation is that our appointments be restricted to night hours.
For those of you I have yet to meet, my name is Charles Rieben, and it is already a pleasure.
[And with that, he signs off.]

Action;
[Crystal brings her drink to her lips, taking a small sip before setting down the glass.]
I wanted to ask you about your experiences in archaeology though I have a feeling that it's more than can be covered in a single sitting.
[Her head tilts to the side casting curls across her cheek.] I knew of one other vampire before arriving her. I'd help him from time to time so perhaps for your stories we can trade? Unless you think my purpose to forward?
Action;
[He nods, though.] I see nothing wrong with that arrangement.
Action;
[The only person she's spoken to was Antonio and they didn't talk when they were alone together.]
We're agreed. Perhaps I can ask for a small bit of your knowledge before I have to leave for work? I'm a hostess at a bar called After Life. If you appreciate social conceptions and irony you should spot by.
Action;
[He nods to the server as his tea is delivered. He doesn't add anything to it before he takes a sip.]
Ask away, Crystal.
Action;
What got you into archaeology and Xenobiology?
Action;
[He smiles fondly at the thought.]
My mother seemed certain some silly human had used the cavern as a waste bin, but they seemed older than that to me. It sparked an interest in history that has never left.
Action;
[She smiles at him and rises to stand.]
Should you have need of me please call. I'll be in touch to hear me. Thank you Charles.
Action;
Leaving so soon?
Action;
Unless you desire my company further.
Action;
Action;
My kind?
[She has no idea what he's talking about.]
Action;
[He smiles.]
Nymphs. You were born a nymph.
Action;
[Something she clearly knows nothing about. Crystal releases a slow breath and takes a seat at the table once more. She keeps her gaze on Charles as she does, her movements as elegant as ever.]
If you would be kind enough to explain. I'm afraid my family was killed when I was very young and I have very few memories of them.
Action;
I'm very sorry to hear that. That must have been difficult for you. [His tone is sympathetic.] Nymphs are a lesser Fae species, only female. They mate with human males to reproduce. Gifted with longevity, grace, beauty, and charm, they are some of the most beautiful creatures to walk the Earth.
They also require sexual intercourse at regular intervals, which I'm sure you've noticed, given your age.
Action;
I have.
[Talking about sex never bothers her.]
I suppose this is something my mother would have told me about. Though it is good to know, thank you. Can I ask a personal question? [She waits politely before continuing.]
Does that change the taste of my blood? [She doesn't know if he'd know but she's curious considering Antonio had never mentioned it and he could most likely have told as well.]
Action;
I would assume so, though I've never tasted the blood of a nymph. Other fae, yes, but never a nymph.
Action;
While you're here you will certainly get a chance.
[She doesn't really get phased easily and there isn't a topic that she's shy about touching.]
I've never really asked about the taste, sated hunger usually has it's own joys. [Her hunger is usually sexual related but she can relate nonetheless.]
Action;
[Given how few of them remain, this comes as a surprise to Charles.]
Action;
[There is more but Crystal is discrete and will only speak about public appearances since they appeared in the paper.]
Action;
Action;
Perhaps.
[She knows that there aren't many vampires and she's sure that those who do exist have different names. There are easy ways of accountability out of her confirming or denying his last name. That and she hadn't seen him in a few years, he might have changed it.]
Action;
Antonio is my nephew...by marriage that is. I've only recently learned we'd found him. My wife has been searching for him all the time I've known her.
Action;
[Her words are true though she could contact Antonio up if she had cause too. It's just something that Crystal would never do.]
I feel lucky to have met so many of your family.
Action;
As you should. There are very few of us remaining.
Action;
[Her tone is light but also curious.]
I imagine that you're missing your family.
