[ another day, another new arrival. this one comes in the form of a small elf with long, white hair, dark blue-tinted skin, and bright pulsing leylines that curve over every inch of exposed skin. she looks... confused, to no one's surprise, as she stares both at the hologram and at the strange device given to her earlier. the clear signs of a newbie, though this one looks more curious than alarmed by what's happening.

after a moment of staring dumbly at the phone, the elf puts it in her pocket and fixes her attention instead on someone nearby. nothing and no one looks familiar, but she isn't shy when she approaches the closest person and asks: ]

Excuse me, do you have a moment?

[ with some questions answered (or not), lioriley has decided to try and navigate through the city(s) and better acquaint herself with the layout of the world. It's... going pretty well? she's only gotten lost three times!!! though it probably doesn't help that she continuously gets distracted by something new and interesting that catches her eye. at some point she's looking at the map, not really focusing on anything around her when she bumps her shoulder into someone. jerking back, she looks up. ]

Ah - forgive me, I was not paying attention. Are you all right?

[Terrance feels the pressure of someone running into him and turns. There is a moments pause before he looks down at the source of the voice.]

Aye love.

[He raises his eyebrow, looking at her map.]

Lost?

[invigorates]

[ sheepishly, she nods; the leylines across her cheeks brightening slightly. ]

So it would seem. I would ask for assistance, but I am not entirely certain I have a particular destination in mind just yet.

[rockcollector]

Then I'll be unhelpful.

[Terrance shoves his hands into his pockets and pulls out a cigarette. With a few flicks of his lighter the bud bursts to life and thin wisps of smoke drift from the end of the paper roll.]

[ well that was a quick shift in mood. the elf crinkles her nose slightly, stepping back once. ]

My apologies, I was concentrating a bit too hard on the map and had not seen you.

[rockcollector]

[Terrance sighs, he's not good at talking to people.]

Fine, what were you looking at?

[Walking and reading a map isn't usually a good mix.]

I was looking for the quickest path to the library. [ she points to the map. yes, she sure did just get here and is already heading right for the books. it's a quick way to learn things about genessia, she assumes.]

[rockcollector]

[Terrance knows where the library is and he can easily give directions so she doesn't have to use the map.]

You're going to continue forward and then take the second left. You'll see the park a few blocks down. The library is across from it.

[invigorates]

Ah, to think I was so close! [ she chuckles, tucking the map away now that she's been given proper directions. maybe she won't get distracted during the few minutes it takes to get there. ] Thank you very much, ser. [ name? names would be good. ]

[rockcollector]

Terrance.

[His names falls easily from his lips answering the unasked question.]

A pleasure, Terrance. [ a beat. ] Do you mind if I ask you a question?

Mm?

[Terrance regards her curiously. He has no idea what she might ask.]

OOPS i meant to have her give him her name too......

What do you think of this realm? I know the woman, Weiss, said that it was relatively safe, but...

That's fine

[Terrance rolls his shoulders in a shrug.]

Safe is relative. Compared to my own home, no it isn't.

[invigorates]

Mm. How so? What dangers are there here?

Same source, people, animals, monsters.

[He rolls his shoulders in a shrug.]

Monsters?

[rockcollector]

[Terrance gives her an even look before rolling his shoulders in a shrug. He doesn't feel as if the word needs to be explained.]

Monsters:
Noun: an imaginary creature that is typically large, ugly, and frightening.

Verb: criticize or reprimand severely.

[invigorates]

[ she stares at him, almost with a look of disbelief. ]

I am well aware of the meaning of the word, my friend. I should have specified - what kind of monsters do you speak of?

[Terrance shrugs again. He gets asked a lot of stupid questions so he thought it'd be safe to answer the litterial question over the implied one. Next time he'll be sure to answer both.]

It depends on your basis of comparison. I find the greater monsters are those who blend it but there are vampires, undead, dragons, etc.

[He waves a hand hoping that he's given her enough of an idea.]
