WHAT: Thanks to the arrival of a surgeon who makes this procedure a heck of a lot easier, surgery date has been moved up and a certain red head is going to walk on two legs once more!
NOTES: Pre-Op is closed to familiar CR only. People Adela has met more than twice will likely be contacted over it, though if you're not sure feel free to ask me over plurk or private message. Post-op is more open as it's more reasonable that people who know her might have heard through word of mouth via other close CR of hers. Aftermath is open to outright everyone. No warnings save for possible potty-mouth, will change as needed.

That just made Adela feel even warmer, and she nodded before making to pull her pant leg up just a little. Normally she'd be more hesitant to show her legs in such a fashion, but considering it was her automail it was all right, and it had to be seen to be believed.

"I just finished receiving an automail prosthetic. A metal limb that moves and works like my old leg would have."

She didn't pull up her pant leg far, but it was far enough to show the metal casing for the front of her leg. After letting it fall, she turned to him and started to speak about it again with gusto.

"I learned how to build them from Miss Winry when she was still here, and thanks to a pair of surgeons here I was finally able to have it attached. I am still getting used to walking with it, but at last I can stand on my own two feet again."

The scientist aspect of Abel was stirred alive with enthusiasm. He was an engineer and know how to operate high tech computers built for space a long, long time ago.

"Automail prosthetic. How interesting! It's a marvelous technology of medicine to be sure! It's good to see medicine becomes advanced! I'm very happy for you."

He nodded, "So you aspired to be a mechanic, correct?"

"Well, in this place I do -- I cannot say that was my ambition before, but that would be because there was nothing like this in my home," She couldn't help herself as she started talking about it, feeling more energetic even through whatever exhaustion she had.

"Of course, I do intend to advance my knowledge of it here, especially with learning the specific type that I can use to help others in similar situations to mine. It is nothing short of incredible."

"That's good, that's good. So what else is your plan for the future now?" He smiled brightly, completely in full support of her recovery.

"Well, I intend to return to my old work at the forge of course -- as well as to continue to work with Smoker. I had to stop before because of my leg, but now it should no longer be a problem."

He simply nodded, acknowledging her plan for the future. "Smoker?" He carried an expression that name sound familiar. "Hey, isn't that the man who chugged too much coffee while smoking at the same time? I met him at the festival a few days ago. The admiral. That's him?"

"That is him. I would not worry too much about his smoking habits... He is not affected by it as most are," She nodded, seeming pleased to talk about him, for the time being, "He runs a garage here in Genessia. I work there as an assistant mechanic."

"What a small world! He's a good man. I hope he goes easy on you but you're recovering. Try not to be around him when he's smoking? Chain-smoking could affect your breathing too."

Worried priest is worried for her health.

"You do not need to worry for that either, though to what extent is not for me to say. That, and it is almost impossible to find a time when he is not smoking."

She sighed, rubbing the back of her head because yeah she could see how it was kind of problematic, and admittedly she wasn't too fond of the smell of it, "He understands the situation better than you might think, considering he helped me find the surgeons to aid with this operation."

"I see. Is he like a father figure to you? If you don't mind me asking?" Abel is naturally curious, since him being a parental figure to everyone is also new to him, but a skill he wants to foster during his stay here nonetheless.

"Well..."

Why was she getting embarrassed? She didn't know, it was how she felt, and it really did make her happy, but it was still kind of hard to just admit to things like that. Still, it was hardly the worst thing she could say...

"... I never knew my real father, so I could not say. I was raised by my uncle, and having known Smoker now... He truly is like a father to me, if I had to take a guess at what a father was like."

"That's good. Thank you. At least now, I know Smoker is a good guy and he has a friend in me." He laughs. "I have a similar situation where I'm taking in a child under my wing, and I was thinking of being his guardian, but I have little clue in parenting. I suppose there's a start in everything."

"I wish you luck in that, in that case. I would not know what advice I could give you, but it is kind of you to take him in."
