14: Operation (Open Action, over several days/weeks)

WHO: Chopper Tony Tony (tonytonychopper), Trafalgar Law (getaroom), Adela (enchantressofore), and OPEN
WHEN: Pre-Op, Surgery - August 22nd. Post-Op, Recovery - August 22nd-29th. Aftermath - August 30th onward.
WHERE: Pre-Op, Surgery, Post-Op - Genessia Hospital. Aftermath - EVERYWHERE
WHAT: Thanks to the arrival of a surgeon who makes this procedure a heck of a lot easier, surgery date has been moved up and a certain red head is going to walk on two legs once more!
NOTES: Pre-Op is closed to familiar CR only. People Adela has met more than twice will likely be contacted over it, though if you're not sure feel free to ask me over plurk or private message. Post-op is more open as it's more reasonable that people who know her might have heard through word of mouth via other close CR of hers. Aftermath is open to outright everyone. No warnings save for possible potty-mouth, will change as needed.

YEAH THAT REALLY WASN'T HELPING CHOPPER

It was after that when Adela slumped, leaning forward a little with a bit of a worried frown pulling at her lips, "Is everything all right, Doctor?"

Oh, oops, crap!

He'll trot over towards Adela with a very sheepish expression. "Sorry, sorry... It's all fine! I've just never had to monitor more than two rooms for a procedure before..." And he'll just be hefting himself up to perch on the chair next to the bed with a sudden grin. "This place is like a navy land hospital, it's so big! Even on the Sunny I only have two rooms for everything!"

In spite of herself she chuckled, shifting to rest back against the pillow and mattress so she could talk to Chopper more comfortably.

"Is the Sunny the name of your ship? The one you sail on with Luffy that is."

"Mn!" Time to beam with pride at the very thought! "The Thousand Sunny! When I first met Luffy we had Going Merry, but... Merry died."

And like anyone remembering a fond friend who had passed on, Chopper's smile became a little melancholy for a few moments. But then he pulled out a bit of paper and a pencil and started drawing. The first was like an elongated horned-sheep face and the second was something like a lion crossed with a sunflower.

"There! That's Merry, and that's Sunny!"

He totally isn't slacking! Really! He's boosting patient morale! And he's not bad at drawing, actually. But part of his studies did include how to draw detailed images of the various herbs and sometimes animals needed for certain treatments.

"I see... These are quite well done!"

What Chopper might notice was that Adela brightened considerably, looking over the sketches with clear wonder, "The ships themselves look incredible. So you would travel across the sea with Luffy on them? Across the Grand Line?"

That won't be enough to earn her a Chopper Dance, but he will tug the brim of his ever-present hat down a bit out of happiness.

"Doctorine made sure I knew how important it was to draw anything I needed, either from memory or something in front of me. But... yeah! Luffy, Zorro, Nami, Ussop, Robin, Brook, Frankie, and Sanji are all nakama together! A few days ago we crossed from the Grand Line into the New World, the most dangerous and least explored part of the world."

And suddenly the brim of his hat is pushed up again with a pensive expression. "You're... alright with this, right? Tra-guy's power is actually from the op-op fruit, short for operation. It might be a bit of a shock at first, but he's the first person I've come across since Doctorine who's better at surgery than myself."

She wanted to ask more, but with the change of subject Adela's expression fell just a little. She sighed, leaning back against the bed once more and trying to smile for Chopper.

"I should be. I am admittedly nervous -- it seems to good to be true. But I cannot let that stop me, right? This... The chance to walk again is worth it."
