WHEN: Pre-Op, Surgery - August 22nd. Post-Op, Recovery - August 22nd-29th. Aftermath - August 30th onward.
WHERE: Pre-Op, Surgery, Post-Op - Genessia Hospital. Aftermath - EVERYWHERE
WHAT: Thanks to the arrival of a surgeon who makes this procedure a heck of a lot easier, surgery date has been moved up and a certain red head is going to walk on two legs once more!
NOTES: Pre-Op is closed to familiar CR only. People Adela has met more than twice will likely be contacted over it, though if you're not sure feel free to ask me over plurk or private message. Post-op is more open as it's more reasonable that people who know her might have heard through word of mouth via other close CR of hers. Aftermath is open to outright everyone. No warnings save for possible potty-mouth, will change as needed.

Ace comes in through the window, because it feels better somehow to do it that way. It will be okay because everything is normal because he isn't. Anyway it will be something Adela remembers right?

He smiles at her, holding a wiggly happy puppy in his arms.

"Guess who wanted to say hi."

Ash struggles to get at her, fluffy paws churning the air, but Ace holds on firmly as he brings the dog over for Adela to pet.

"What do I receive for guessing correctly?"

She managed a smile, reaching to pet the whining pup and laughing when she feels him licking her hand. The little hint of normalcy was appreciated, though she didn't say so right away. It wasn't just Ash's company she appreciated, either.

"I do not think dogs would normally be allowed in this part of the hospital, though."

He shrugs. Who cared if they aren't allowed? Maybe Adela did but Ace didn't bother to check.

"A kiss." And he lets Ash lick her cheek before settling the dog beside her and patting it. He pulls up a chair, sitting on in backwards and smiles at her.

"So big day huh? Scared?"

She couldn't hold back a laugh at Ash, and the puppy seemed to settle now that he was with his human again. Adela continued to pet him, rubbing behind his ears affectionately as she turned to Ace.

"... I know I should not be, but I am. It feels as if it is too good to be true, what Trafalgar can do for it and reaching this point in the first place. I know it is silly of me to feel that way."

"You'd be surprised. I don't know the guy... but I guess that for all the surprising bad thing that happen there's surprising good things, too." He tweaked a bit of her hair.

"What should we do when you're better?"

"I honestly do not know. I know I will still be recovering for quite some time, even with people using their abilities to help it along. I will also need to take time to learn how to walk again, as it will be quite different from having a normal leg..."

She sighed, leaning back against the bed and scratching Ash lightly behind his ears.

"I wonder how long that will take..."

"Don't worry about it. You'll get there sooner or later and you've got a lot to look forward to, right?" He doesn't like sad Adela even though he's the cause of it a lot of times.

"I'll help. And hey, once you have two legs I can take you out on Striker."

"... I would like that, a lot."

Adela managed a smile for him then, genuine as it definitely gave her something to look forward to among everything else she wanted to do, "I also intend to start on my sword-training once I am fully back on my feet. I am afraid I may have gotten too unskilled from being unable to practice for so long."

"Yeah? I'll take you on! Or we can go dungeoning together." Which sounded even better. "Or you can practice sticking Smoker. He won't even feel it." Though it also meant Adela wouldn't have a chance against Smoker ...and it probably wouldn't annoy him either... damn.

And now that he's thinking of Smoker... he leans in and scratches Ash's ears.

"It doesn't bother you that we do it does it?"

"I have other ways of beating him that do not involve stabbing him," At first Adela was still relaxed, but then...

Ace had to bring that up.

She sighed again, looking down to Ash and keeping her hand on his back for the time being, "What you and Smoker do while you are alone has no bearing on me whatsoever. The only thing that matters to me is if you are both happy with that."

Of course it bothered her, how could it not? But... She'd already decided she needed to get over that, and she'd rather see them both happy than be selfish to them and compromising that.

It's good that she's not bothered but he can tell she is a little. Maybe one day she'll find someone she likes who isn't a fuck up. He files the mention of her being able to beat up Smoker for a later date and shrugs a bit at the happiness thing because he is and he isn't and they are and they aren't because nothing is ever simple with him or Smoker but...

"You sure you don't want me to try to hook you up with anyone?" Because he wanted to see her happy... even moreso than himself in a lot of ways. Though as to who could make her happy was a different question.

"It would not be fair to the person you tried to match me with to do so now. Besides that, I do not necessarily need to be with someone to be happy, right?"

"Nah but..." He was about to say doing it is fun but then he remembered that he wasn't supposed to talk about it. "It can be fun... Not that there's anyone good enough for you." Though he's teasing and he sticks his tongue out at her.

"You sound like Smoker," She chuckled, shaking her head before closing her eyes and making herself comfortable, "I do not believe that, either. That there is no one good enough, that is. I have no doubts that 'doing it' can be fun with the right person, and before you ask that is not in invitation to elaborate."

He laughs at that though it's not entirely happy.

"Kill me now. I'm going to have to go out and still twenty things just to recover from the shame." But he's glad that Smoker looks after Adela and cares about her as Ace knew he would.

"Well either way I'll do my best to make sure you're happy." He tugged at her hair again. "But just so you know it doesn't really need the right person." He and Smoker were the absolute wrong people but it was still really addicting.

She grunted at the tug before swatting at his hand, honestly Ace... She did look up at him again though, trying to smile for him with a nod, "I will have to take your word for it, as I am not interested in testing those waters right now. Will you come visit when the procedure is done?"

"Definitely. Anything you want me to bring you? Ash? Food? Grog?" He wiggles his eyebrows at the last one.

"I do not know... I might be a little too tired for anything, depending on how things play out."
