I think Pyrrha Nikos is gone.

[People are bound to find out on their own if they haven't already, but it needs to be said.]

[Action | Nova City]

[It's possible to run into Jaune in Nova City. He's not paying attention to his surroundings, and he might not notice someone he recognizes at first. And if he doesn't recognize them, then there's a disheveled teenager who looks like he hasn't shaved, much less changed his outfit in a week wandering around.]

[ooc: if your character is on good terms with Jaune, he would have included them in the text. if you need me to clarify it further, feel free to pm me!]

[Weiss wasn't the only one avoiding someone. Avoiding Weiss felt like it was normal now, and maybe that should have felt more wrong than it did, but it was still hard to face her in day-to-day conversations. Once he had spent some time by himself, he regretted ever mentioning the hair pin to her to begin with. He shouldn't have brought her into what happened during the dance. He only reminded her of the trauma she experienced.

So he doesn't take it personally--not on her end--and he doesn't expect to talk to her anytime soon. He's just going through his things when she knocks on the door, not responding at first before he replies hesitantly:]

[ Weiss slowly unlocks the door. She knows Jaune's probably thinking that he shouldn't have to worry about her too. Weiss still feels like she failed, since she'd been trying so hard to show Jaune that things didn't have to be something they should just give up on. That if they pretended hard enough, they might be able to start believing it themselves. And then that night happened. And then Pyrrha left. And Weiss knows that pain of losing someone forever, even if Zuko didn't technically "die." She just had no faith that he would remember her when he came back, that he wouldn't be her Zuko just like the droves of people from Remnant who she barely could think of as her friends so much as people she used to know. It's not an easy thing to deal with, and she hasn't quite figured out how to get past it herself. Pyrrha's passing just reminds her that nothing they have is permanent here. ]

Hey.

[ But she wouldn't say "I told you so." Not today. ]

[He heard her voice but he still turns to face her when she enters his room. It wasn't Weiss' fault. She might be a City Guardian, but when it came to who stayed and who didn't, she was just as helpless as the rest of them. But it wouldn't help to say that and he felt that it might just make her feel worse. At least she had tried with GSRF. Most people were like him and just avoided it until something they regretted happened. He didn't think she had to try all the time, but he was still grateful that she had.

She might notice that his stuff in the room is a mess as if he's been sorting through it for a while.]

I don't have any good advice.

[ Honestly, she hadn't really figured out how to get past it without the answer being 'time.' And that answer never seemed to help. She never appreciated it. ]

[He turns back and doesn't say anything for a while. He just focuses on packing his stuff, the silence not awkward but not comfortable either.]

How many people have found charms here, Weiss...?

[ Weiss notices him packing, about to say something about it before he asks her a question. ]

Charms? I don't know. I've heard of a couple people getting them but honestly? It's not anyone I know, or at least anyone I know who's talked about it.

[He nods, not looking surprised or disappointed or much of anything right now.]

I have a plan. It's not very...I doubt it will work.

[He's worried about Weiss and Nora, but he can't ask anything of them or be around for them. He's past that point.]

A plan..? What is it?

[ She looks a little concerned. Something with charms.. she honestly has no idea what he could be thinking of with that. If she thought they were that useful she would've looked into them more deeply herself. But that's a lot of work for the only things she asked the CPU about not being things it could grant even if she had charms. ]

I was going to find the people who already have charms, but since you don't know who they are that would take too much time.

I'm going to see about sacrificing something to bring her back permanently. That's how this place works, right? [He doesn't look or sound concerned. He could just as easily be reading a chapter about the history of Remnant right now.]

[ She stares at him for a moment, a pained look on her face. She wants to bring Pyrrha back as much as the next person but..

Instead of saying something, she pulls out her device and activates the CPU on speaker phone. ]

CPU, can you bring people back to this world upon request in any way?

[ The CPU's answer is no, the selection process is not capable of fulfilling requests to see other people, though activating an subarchway that would normally contain the person could result in an artificial substitute being brought to the subarchway. Weiss turns the communicator off and lets her arm fall to her side, holding it still but looking and speaking to Jaune directly now. ]

She wouldn't be real, Jaune. There's a reason I don't go into our subarchway except to restock on Dust. It's little more than an illusion made solid.

[He's silent. Listening as his only chance is proven to be impossible should crush him. He doesn't know what it would feel like to lose Pyrrha a third time, but he's very familiar with the second. He should be upset. He should be angry. He should feel something.

He probably does, but it's like he's watching the entire scene play out while he's trapped, or isolated. Putting in the effort to involve himself in it, or respond would only lead to more pain. Even if he wanted to, he doesn't think he could do it. Nothing about his expression changes. He seems just as indifferent when he turns his back to Weiss to grab a few more essentials.]

I still have a box of Zuko's things. He was in the middle of a war back home and he didn't seem too optimistic about his chances of survival. [ There was still a chance, but Weiss has to live with never knowing for sure. ] Pyrrha's dead, though, so it's different. There's no chance, so I'm not going to pretend to be able to imagine how you feel. She was my friend, but she was more than that to you. But that doesn't mean you can bring her back. Not in a way that's really her. So where are you planning on going?

[He doesn't respond for a while. When he does, his voice has very little inflection, though there's a hint of uncertainty.] Do you ever look at them? His things.

I don't know. I have to be alone and just...not near her things right now. Can you take care of Snow?

Sure.

[ She pauses for a moment, pulling out her keys and grabbing the one for the old house. At least if he's there, she knows that he's safe and she can find him if she needs him. ]

Do you want me to clean up while you're out?

Thanks.

[He finishes and faces her. He doesn't have much.]

No, I-- Maybe. I don't know.

I won't throw it out. I'll put it in storage, for when you're ready. I had to go through Zuko's alone, I'm not going to make you do it.

...Oh. Right. [Of course Weiss wouldn't throw it away. There was no reason to feel the sudden panic he had. Not only was Weiss his friend, but she had been Pyrrha's too. She wouldn't just throw her belongings away.] Why alone?

I went to sleep with him and woke up to an empty bed. I didn't want to believe what happened, so I went to go check his apartment. The landlord recognized me and told me he was gone so I should clean up his things if I wanted any of it, otherwise he'd throw it out. It was so early in the morning no one else was even really awake yet... he always rose with the sun, so when I felt he wasn't there I started looking for him pretty early. Besides.. he wouldn't have wanted anyone else going through his things. It had to be me.

[This place is so messed up. People just leave, with no warning or explanation. Jaune still feels bad for having to go be alone, because of how much Weiss has been through herself.]

If anyone had told me like that I might have lost it. I'll text you once in a while.

[ She knows why though. She gets it. The one thing she hadn't wanted to do after losing Zuko was hang around everyone feeling sorry for her but not really understanding what it was to lose someone you were that close to, not understanding what it was like to know that they weren't in a stable situation back home, that they could be killed any time, that even if they came back they might not remember you.

Pyrrha would always have feelings for Jaune whether she remembered her time here or not, but there was one thing for certain- Pyrrha was dead. That was something Jaune finally had to accept. No more dancing around hoping Genessia would make it less real. Weiss didn't know how to help him come to terms with that. So she knew why he had to be alone. ]

You'd better. I'll send you dog pictures.

Send me all the dog pictures. [His expression softens before freezing up again. Dogs were one thing that seemed stable about Genessia. He can't take care of Snow with the way he is now though. As guilty as he feels about asking Weiss to look after him, maybe it will help her too.]

I'm sorry.

I know.

[ She wasn't going to say that he didn't have to be. They both knew that she wasn't feeling great about this. She didn't have to say that much. But she knew she wasn't the only one hurting, and that was part of what she had to deal with. Jaune should know that. ]

I'll live. Worry about yourself for now.
