002 Journal | VIDEO
[Alice regards the phone seriously as it flicks on. Her dark eyes are bright and inquisitive and when she speaks it’s with a noticeable English accent.]
If it isn't too much trouble, I'd ask what everyone does around here, both for work but also for fun. [She isn't used to having free time.] I am more accustoming to active past times though I do love to read and draw when I can. I thought of exploring but I've heard that it might not be safe more so close to the barriers. I don't know if this is true or not but I tend to air on the side of caution. [She says that but it isn't true. She'll most likely find herself out and exploring and putting herself in harms way anyway.]
I might take up a position as a researcher or a professor though it might be worth trying something new as well. [She has a little bit of time to decide.] Any and all thoughts are welcome.
Thank you for your time.

My work is...the contemporary equivalent of knight errantry, I hope. For pleasure, there's...goodness, all sorts! Conversation, of course, greeting the newcomers, talking with friends, visiting their places of work and giving them work or pleasure, depending on fortune...
Then there's walking pokemon, fighting with them, though that can be nervy. Walking at all is its own pleasure; there's much to wander in. Reading, and writing if you've got the gift--working on a poem myself--, singing, listening to others sing, attending church, exercise, swordplay, thinking, looking for deals and sales, not looking for things and finding anyway, martial arts practice, dancing, eating,...I'm, hah, sure I'm forgetting something.
[Panting. The motormouth ran out of breath]
Video
[She smiles softly at the video though there is a firmness to her tone and countenance.]
I've never done marital arts but I do know how to dance. I'm glad to see you're doing a lot to fill your time. I take it you're the type who doesn't like to sit still either.
Re: Video
"Heh, I think if it gets more eyes than the one its about, it shall be expressly for mockery. You can see why I'm shy about it.
A dancer? Were you able to attend the ball a while ago? There was much of that. But no, I do not think this place meant for us to sit still. But then, I can't say for certain. Perhaps there are some who sit still very beautifully; Mona Lisa was an exemplary sitter.
How about yourself? Do you prefer sitting or dancing?
Video
I've only recently arrived here. I believe I've missed the pleasure of the ball.
I prefer dancing and I can understand your uncertainty. Perhaps show the poem to the person who's inspired it first. Surely if they appreciate it others will as well.
Re: Video
[He snorts a laugh]
Believe me, the subject would be the first to lampoon. Then it'd be only a matter of time before he got communal.
Ah, I'm sorry to hear that. I don't mind making up for lost time, if you like waltzes or their ilk.
Video
[She doesn't know if now is the time to dance or not. Ted's oddities are reminding her a little bit of the mad hatter though.]
I hope one day to enjoy listening to your writing. Of course, only when you are comfortable with it.
Re: Video
Hah, you want it read? Certainly, if you like. [Worst decision of her life.] I'll see what he thinks of it.
Video
[She isn't able to list all of the books she's read. It'd be far to many.]
I look forward to it.
Wow that formatting was awful let's try this again.
[A few days later...]
"It went over his head. He's got such a large one, too, I don't see how it could've. I hope you'll catch it, standing up to whatever poetic height necessary." [He cleared his throat]
Ichthys
Auspicious fortune wrapped and sent my way
Both fish and man along fate’s blessed flow
We spoke of work and how to earn one’s pay
I bore my heart which he then set aglow
Time’s culmination bade his home to me
Where fateful words uncovered riches still
Yet treasure hid and lost itself to sea
Dear dreams cannot be if he will not will
What scraps of gold I’ve gained stoke longing’s fire
Yet brackish waters cloud the briny deep
Good lures alone can grant my heart’s desire
To purify and cleanse his soul to keep
The ransom paid the day the veil was torn
Pray take the gift and prove one water born
"What do you think?"
I knew what you meant.
[It isn’t perfect but it isn’t bad. Alice isn’t an English major or any skilled writing professional. Over all she likes it and sees it as nothing to be embarrassed about.]
It does sound like your friend is a fish.

Yes, I robbed one of Shakespeare's sonnets. Alas, I could not take his talent." [He laughed, at ease by modest approval]
"Yes, at least by half. A rotten tease who's not half so good as he ought to be."
no subject
If he can inspire such work you should keep him around. Emotions inspire amazing art.
[At least that's what she's noticed throughout history.]

"Ahah! A sop to poetry he can't understand. That's far too idiotic to turn down. In that case, I'll take your advice, thank you. Let me know should you need anything; you're one of the first I've met who didn't announce themselves at The Bay. Good afternoon."

[Alice nods her head once before turning off the camera. It is nice to speak to someone so well read though he might turn out to be much like other scholars. She'll have to wait and see.]
video;
I spend a great deal of time simply observing and doing what I can to learn more about these realms. Though I also make a point to ride and practice kung fu.
Do you have an interest in the barriers?
video;
I'm a mineralogist by trade. [Her expression softens as when she hears the familiar accent.]
I was thinking of studying the rocks but it's impossible without knowing the weather patterns. I wasn't sure if the barriers are a way to do that. It's something I've thought about testing but it might be to dangerous to get near them. I've been told what can happen and without knowing what they are made of I might not be able to learn anything about them anyway.
[She doesn't know if it's an option with exploring.]
video;
I'm afraid I am of no help there. My knowledge of the barriers is limited and I have yet to find myself bold enough to get closer to them than I already have.
video;
Yes, they're a little loud for my liking. I'm more accustom to the country side over the city.
I don't know a lot about it but if you are bold enough to get close perhaps we can learn more together? [She'll admit that she is a little scared but fear has rarely been a deterrent.]
video;
[ on horseback. cars... they kind of freak him out, to be honest. ]
video;
Well you don't have to. I'm sure I can mange on my own but it would be nice to have the company.

Drawing is lots of fun, t... too. And... And it's fun to spend time with K-Katze. The festival and th... the party were fun. I wonder if th-there'll be more stuff in the future...
O-Oh! And there's a, a bookstore. Th-The owner is real nice.
Video
[More so if she can bring her field journal with her.] And if I could have the address to the bookstore as well?
[She does enjoy reading.]
Video
[He forwarded the information for the bookshop, since he knew it well enough by now.]
Th-The shop owner is really nice. She'll... She'll help you pick out a b-book, if you're not sure what to get.
Video
[She likes to put names to faces.]
I'm Alice Colwin.
Video
I think you'll l-like them.
Video
[She smiles softly.]
Do you know how many young adults are here Bracken? It seems like a lot.
Video
[He tried to count them in his head, but there were so many and he didn't know them all.]
I-Is there a strange amount?
Video
[She assures him in a gentle but firm tone.]
Video
Video
[It's something she'll look forward too.]
Video
[He wanted to be reassuring. Plus, he really thought that.]
Video
[Truthfully, Alice isn’t as calm as she seems. She’s tense and unsure and nervous but she’s trying to keep herself together. The only way she can return home is if she doesn’t give up.]
Video
Y-You're welcome. If... If you need any help in the f-forest, or anything... U-Umm... You could ask me.
