5th Castle: Advice [ANON TEXT]

[Nora has a lot of stuff on her mind, and while she'd love to talk to someone about all of it, there's no one around. Either they're dealing with their own stuff, or she just doesn't know them well enough to just talk about her more personal problems.]

what do you do when you want to talk about something but no one's really around to talk to?

[Keeping the question anonymous because she doesn't want any of her friends to think she doesn't trust them. Which is kind of the case, but she doesn't want to make it a big deal.]

Back home, I would always talk to my cats. I could always guarantee that they would keep any secret! They were good at comfort, not so good at advice.

Opening up to people is hard. I've heard that making new friend is a good thing to do so you have more people to talk to.

Do you think we can keep them in this world? I haven't looked for a pet store yet!

IKR? Some people make it sound like all you have to do is say hi to someone and then they are your friend! I think it is harder than that. But...I think I might have started to make friends here, totally by mistake!

[Not anon because Ted's not that careful.]

Mm, well, you can be patient and wait for them, or be impatient and seek them out. I like the latter, myself, even if it's a bit less graceful.

[Beats him; he prefers to be surprising if he can.]

They do say good things come to those who wait; patience is a virtue, and all that. May whomever you wait for be so providentially accomodating.

[He means well but it's clear he's nudging the anon towards the second. Live a life of action!]

[Ibuki's not bothering with anon. Not like she has anything to say she doesn't want her name attached to.]

Hmm. Well, sometimes Ibuki talks about it to herself? Though that doesn't really do much if I need advice so...then I talk to people I don't know. I figure, if they're a stranger anyway, what they think of me afterwards doesn't matter, right?

[Then again, Ibuki doesn't exactly find it hard to talk to people anyway.]

That's fair. But...if they're your friends, shouldn't they not tell other people what you said if you ask them to?

[A rare instance of wise!Ibuki coming out here.]

Or is it that you might make them think badly of someone? But...if someone did something to deserve that, that's not really your fault.

talk about it to myself
but thats probably not even remotely health
you could find a totally neutral party to unload on
like not a friend friend just
someone willing to listen
who can then become a friend friend

The buttercup always had trouble typing on this newfangled device, but if it potentially stopped this boredom... Anyways anonymity was a plus, since over text nobody knows you're a flower.

Where I'm from, it's tradition to talk to an Echo Flower, they always listen and remember. Though that also can be a problem, since then anyone can come by and hear what they repeat.

The reply takes significantly more time than expected, for how short it is.

...I knew there was a catch, there aren't. I might not be an Echo Flower, but I can listen AND keep secrets.

Find a healthy way to channel your emotions. Creative outlets are useful.

But keep trying to find someone, too.

I can tell you from experience that cats fix a large number of problems.

The wait can be hard but when you find a good person in the end it's worth it.

Back in my old home, I had this lovely mirror I spent many nights talking to. It was one of the best listeners I found. Though sometimes I'd also talk to the rats, or the flowers. Oh, and sometimes the cats down in Darktown!

Really much better listeners than most people I've across.

Why not a mirror? Is it really the strange compared to talking to oneself? Or these... Phone device things?

I'd suggest a therapist if I knew where to find one.

Maybe a neutral uninvolved person, or someone unlikely to talk about whatever you tell them?
Someone who's generally quiet?

I've found keeping a journal is a good way to let out my feelings.

[Which... was an unfortunate necessity for him. Still is, even.]

But I admit that I find myself talking to one of my pets sometimes.
