2nd Vision | [Action]
[Any City - Day]
[Caelestis had been dreading this day since he arrived here, so he was certainly well aware of it when it finally arrived. He wasn't one to get bent out of shape because of birthdays - he didn't care even though he was in his 30s - but there was one major figure here that was missing that never was before. That was his twin sister, whom he shared every one of his birthdays with. He knew that time didn't flow the same way here as it did at his home, but it was easier to say that they were 33 now rather than trying to figure out the technicalities behind Genessia's time against Celveryia's. He'd always been one to hide his emotions if anything would ever bother him, but this was one case that he couldn't hide very well. It wouldn't take a detective to note that glint of sadness in his eyes that day, even if his expression seemed to be the same stern look he always carried.
In addition to that feeling of loneliness he had without Almarei around, he'd noticed ever since he woke up at the crack of dawn that his eyes weren't quite right. He'd chalked it up to inadequate sleep, something he was quite used to as it was, so he'd thought nothing of it and went about his day. With his vision as it was, he thought it best to skip his magic training in the Fayren fields for the day and chose to explore the other cities. But between being absent minded and his eyesight, he found himself nearly bumping into people a few times, much to his annoyance. It wasn't their fault, it was his, so he made a point to stop and tip his hat, apologetically bowing his head slightly to the person.]
I beg your pardon.
[At least he had no trouble getting across streets safely. Thankfully.]
[Everglade - Night]
[Once it was coming on sunset, he'd gone to Everglade to serve his duty as a Ranger, but it wouldn't be long into his trek amidst the city when he realized something was very wrong. His vision became worse before eventually, everything faded to black. He would let out a startled cry, collapsing to his knees in the middle of the city streets. At the worst possible time. His right hand covered his eyes, and despite them being wide open, he couldn't see anything.]
What... what the hell kind of magic is this?!
[Stay calm? That's what he would try to do normally, except he's on his knees in the middle of this hellish city, blind and vulnerable for reasons unknown to him. In this state, there was no doubt that he was a sitting duck. He may have magic, but it does little good if he can't see the target and his surroundings... except calling for help is the last thing he wants to have to do.]

[Everglade - Night]
What's wrong?
[His voice is deep and raspy as he steps up to Caelestis's side. He doesn't touch him knowing that he might get attacked if he does.]
no subject
I don't know, I can't... I can't see..!
[He was also trying not to sound distressed, but he was failing on that front.]
no subject
I'm Toby. [Not that he expects this guy to know his name.] I'm going to take you to the hospital in Genessia.
[He'll at least be safe there.]
no subject
Caelestis.
[This was the worst situation for introductions. The last thing he wanted was to end up in the hospital, but it wasn't like he could do anything in his current state and it wouldn't do any good to argue. He was hesitant, but he slowly nodded.]
Alright... thank you. [It was clear from that tone that he didn't want to go.]
Fayren - Day
[If the fox's smug voice doesn't sound familiar by now, then maybe Caeli needs a hearing aid along with glasses.
Tsukihito was returning from the woods to sell his kills to the local butcher. Rumors about the great white fox that dwells within this region scared most of the hunters away. Feeling quite bad for causing such a fright in Fayren, Tsukihito took it upon himself to fetch the meat. Of course he's profiting from their fear by not explaining he's the great big fox but that's a discussion for another day.]
Is all well?
[There's a hint of concern there.]
no subject
I should be fine. My eyes are giving me a little trouble, but I'm sure that I didn't get enough sleep.
[This early in the day, that excuse made sense to him. He does have a pair of reading spectacles on him, in case he might need them, though he may be stubborn about it.]
no subject
I never known birds to lack eyesight.
[He's of course referencing the soldier's odd avian-like nature. Caelestis certainly seem quite birdlike to him with those feathers.]
Forgive my inquiry but what reason do you have to be wandering so early in the day? Surely you should be resting.
no subject
It is unusual. I've never quite had anything like this happen before.
[But he was still certain that it wasn't anything for him to worry about. His ear feathers twitched slightly, and his expression softened.]
I'm used to being awake at this hour. I'm normally training in the morning, but I figure that wandering would prove to be a good distraction for the day instead.
no subject
[He chuckles quietly.]
Thankfully no harm was done.
[A thoughtful hum escapes Tsukihito as he regards the other with a critical eye. He holds up his hand in front of Caelestis's face and wiggles his fingers curiously.]
Can you see my fingers? If so, how many am I holding up?
[He's holding up two fingers but it might look like three or more if Caelestis's eyesight is blurry.]
no subject
[There's a difference! And Caeli certainly would be the one to point out the corrections, because that's how he rolls. He blinks twice, looking at Tsukihito's hand with a quirked eyebrow. His eyesight was clear enough that he knew the correct number, so he couldn't help but give the fox a slightly judging stare.]
You're holding up two. Honestly, I'm not going blind.
[He says that now...]
no subject
[Tsukihito laughs as he lowers his hand. Maybe this pigeon isn't going blind just yet. That's a relief.]
Just checking. You seem slightly dazed at best. So maybe lack of sleep is the culprit.
[He smiles a little.]
If you mean to continue with your meandering, then perhaps I'll join you out of boredom's sake.
no subject
If you would like, I would not turn away the company. I could use the distraction this morning, seeing that I'm currently in no state to do my usual training.
[He won't admit it out loud, but he'll be happier to have someone to speak to today, even if only for a little while.]
Though I see you must have some business to take care of beforehand. I suppose you've taken up hunting work in these lands?
Genessia - Day
However the drawing on it were not exactly the best, but it was all he could do for the moment. As he was placing up one on a service he could feel someone bumping into him, nearly causing him to scatter all the flyers across the street.]
Ah, sorry. Are you okay?
no subject
My apologies, it was my fault. [He wasn't entirely certain how to answer that inquiry, but he'll be stubborn about it.] Ah, yes, I'm fine. It's a bit of an... off day for me. Are you alright?
no subject
[He had gathered as many as he could, others were just too far out of reach at this point. Once he put them in a pile he held the flyers close to his chest.]
Off day? Why do you say that?
no subject
My mind is... elsewhere, due to the date. [Not that he wanted to admit that.] Nor are my eyes agreeing with me today, as I've clearly proven, embarrassingly enough. I can offer payment to cover what I made you lose.
[Yeah, they're just flyers, but that doesn't mean he's gonna be a dick about it and not offer to cover 'damages'.]
no subject
[Nothing too bad at least. He just chose to pick the brighter side of things for that particular kind of thing.]
But... that sounds worrying about your eyes. Maybe you should get checked out.
no subject
If you're certain.
[He shakes his head then.]
I'm sure I'm fine. Unless bumping into people starts becoming a normal thing, I'm sure it'll simply pass.
[Of course, if it were his sister telling him to get his eyes checked out, he'd do it in an instant... but without Alma around to scold him, he'll be as stubborn as he always is.]
no subject
[She paused for a moment, finger lightly pressed up against his chin. He hoped something like that wouldn't become a normal thing for them.]
Well it's not normal unless you need your eyes checked for glasses or your going blind. [A pause.] Or this world did something.
no subject
I highly doubt I'm going blind. [He seems particularly unamused at that comment. Probably because he had someone else imply that earlier that morning.] ... But you say the world itself can do something? Is such a thing a common occurrence in this world?
no subject
It is as fair as I know and I've been here a while. I mean it's not like a monthly thing, but things still happen now and again, if that makes sense.
[everglade-night] (provided you don't mind alternate timelines?)
Thaaaaat's gonna be a problem.
Namur bids a pretty little harpy girl good hunting for the evening, and makes his way over.]
Yo, Cael! Makin' the rounds t'night, eh? How's shit?
I'm totally cool with it!
Namur? What the hell's going on?
[His voice was pretty shaken, despite trying to maintain himself and at least try to sound calm. Given that he wasn't giving any direct answers to those questions, this guy was anything but fine right now.]
no subject
[Namur grabs his arm, slipping another one around Caelestis's waist to haul him up to his feet.]
Let's getcha outta the middle a the road, anyway, 'fore 's more'n fear everone starts smellin' off y'.
no subject
He tensed up when he felt his arm being grabbed, but was quick to try and calm his nerves. Not that it was easy to do in the present situation. He made a point to blink several times in rapid succession, but to no avail- he still couldn't see a damn thing.]
There isn't... some kind of creature nearby, is there? I can't-- I can't see anything. I don't know why.
[His first guess is a creature or magic user that may have it out for him.]
no subject
There's lots a creatures nearby, but hell if I know if any a 'em cause blindness. That what happened t' y'? Jus' walkin' 'long an' bam! Lights out?
[There's a curb coming up but Namur easily lifts him over it.]
no subject
As bizarre as it is... that's exactly what happened. I had minor troubles with my vision earlier in the day, but it was nothing that would instill this sudden blindness.
[He makes it a point to blink several times again. Not that he expected anything to change in the last five seconds, but it would at least make him certain that it wasn't something he could blink away. There definitely wasn't anything in his eyes.
It almost seemed like a cruel irony, given that two people in the day had commented about him going blind.]
no subject
[Namur inhales deeply, being careful to identify all of the scents. Unless one or two of the supernatural beasties have abilities he doesn't know about- which is incredibly likely, he'd be the first to admit- he can't find a reason for it to have happened.
Though Cael's fear is slowly drawing certain types nearer.]
Damn it. We gotta getcha outta here. Got anywhere t' stay in Genessia or we gonna go through more'n one gate?
