Warnings: Violence, dealing with animal behaving badly, better than Crocodile Hunter that's for sure
It was listed in the newspaper as: the Ultra Croc: A giant crocodile has caused the death of two people at a near by lake. No clear instructions other than to "defeat the beast" is given.
It's the only Fayren assignment available on the newspaper, and has quite a low payout. Either way, Jade needed money to cover for October's rent at the inn, and it's going to be a while before he settled in his new job. For now, he's surviving on Luke's starter money for next month.
Still, he took on the assignment, and search for any lakes in the Fayren area that has the crocodile trouble, and he found it, which is a lone lake. Not a suitable habitat for a large crocodile, as crocodiles tend to live in still and shallow waterways, such as rivers or swamps, in tropical climates. Perhaps, the crocodile in question just moved on due to reasons that it just wandered in with no place to go.
If there is anything Jade learned as a former military colonel and on the job as a comission based bounty hunter? Come to the job prepared. Especially in most cases, the bounty must be captured alive to be considered valid as a trade-off for that paycheck.
For that reason, despite having his finance is running low, he has to purchase a few tools for this particular assignment - tools to capture a crocodile which includes miles of thick rope, duct tape, a large net, and a kit containing tranquilizer guns with high dosage of sedatives purchased from Nova City.
This isn't the end all as Jade acquired other tools and weapons for his assignments. Also, to drag this beast to the Fayren's Environmental and Animal protection agency, he rented an extra large size cart and a two horse carriage to carry the animal off.
If Jade could lure the animal. He found the beast sunbathing by the coast of the lake. But he was amazed by the size of the beast. At most, the beast is almost 18ft from head to tail.
While Jade waited from a safe distance behind the trees, he took his time to figure out how to tire the beast, then sedate it, and then drag it to his cart.
*** 3 hours later ***
The beast is sleeping and sunbathing on the coast, if that helps. So luck and good timing is on Jade's favor. He shot the beast with tranquilizer darts, with enough dosage to put the beast to sleep for 2 days. He didn't have to use his own artes.
Unfortunately his biggest mistake? The beast almost weight a ton and there's no way for him to drag it to the authorities on his own wooden cart. Even if it's a car or a truck, the beast is heavy enough to break it during the trek. If he have checked his facts that a giant crocodile can weight anywhere between 1,000 to 2,000+ lbs, he wouldn't have his dilemma.
Anyways, the condition is to "defeat" the beast, right? So, he called the authorities on the phone, told them of his dilemma, and eventually in a few hours, a team arrived to tie up the beast to drag it off to a safer area, to relocate the animal to a more suitable habitat at their discretion.
Either way, the croc is captured and being relocated, while Jade got his ticket/rain check on his bounty claim. He'll get paid once he received news that the beast was relocated, and the legalities of would be processed.
