17: Exertion (Open Action]
Who: Adela (
enchantressofore) & OPEN
What: After recently quitting her job at the forge due to job frustrations, Adela decides to push her luck with her leg and finally take up another love of hers again -- swordplay.
Where: Holodeck'd, Genessia City
When: October 8th to 12th
Notes and Warnings: None as of yet, prone to change dependant on where threads go.
[ It feels good to have her sword in her hands again, even if her footsteps still feel awkward.
Perhaps it's still too soon for this kind of strenuous exercise. Even with magic, her leg does still become sore from time to time. At that point she's mostly attributing it to the weather however, and what Trafalgar doesn't know won't hurt him, right?
It's with this in mind that, with some time off, Adela makes her way to Holodeck'd. It is strange but incredibly useful technology, and with a faceless figure Adela is fighting her hardest. It lets her turn her mind off, thinking of nothing but the opponent in front of her as she once again falls into a familiar dance in her swordplay.
At least, until her leg stalls briefly, causing her to wince and to block sloppily. She can feel the strain in her muscles from that, and she has to wince before yelling to end the simulation.
The images disappear and Adela leaves the room, sitting on a bench outside with a sigh as she rubs at her shoulder. That really hurt more than it should have... But at least it appears like her leg is still in working order -- it must have been a laps in concentration. She'll have to look it over later.
Who else might have been watching? Who knows, but whether she's still at Holodeck'd or is on her way home with the sword, she looks tired and is still rubbing at her shoulder even as she walks home. She needs to learn to block from that angle better... ]

He'd been sitting on a roof top when he noticed Adele walking down the street with a sword and rubbing her shoulder]
Hey! You okay?
[She didn't look to be bleeding or hurt but he still might as well ask right?]
no subject
[ She's startled, staring at the man on the roof nearby. What was he... ]
I... I am all right, why do you ask?
no subject
You seemed to be rubbing at your shoulders and you have a sword. Were you in a fight?
[He was just concerned as he came a bit closer]
no subject
[ She rubs the back of her neck, glancing away and feeling a little embarrassed. ]
I was trying to get back into my training... I previously wasn't able to for a long time. I suppose my shoulder is a little bothered from it...
no subject
I'm Jack Frost, and uh I can help with your shoulder if you want me to?
no subject
[ She blinks, staring at him and raising a brow at him. ]
It really is just sore, it will be all right if I do not strain it too much.
no subject
[He moved over to her before moving his hand to her shoulder]
This might be a bit cold.
[He concentrated and let the cold of his hand move to her shoulder to help with the pain. It wouldn't be painful but she'd definitely feel it as he'd give the muscle an easy massage.]
no subject
What sort of... Is this your magic...?
[ It explains how he sort of floated, though it's still a bit of a shock to her. ]
no subject
[He continued for a bit more before pulling his hand away though the cold lingered]
I can control cold, ice, winter and such.

Today would be no different. Though today's patrol also brought him toward a place with technology that was beyond his understanding. He was distracted momentarily by watching the goings on through the window. The ferocity was like watching Mikasa, so it had him admiring briefly.
Only... He vaguely recognized this stranger. The red hair, the small frame. Where had he seen her before?
Eventually, Jean finds himself resting against something, arms crossed as he watched. It beat the boredom of just walking, so why not? When she comes out, he takes a chance to talk to her. ]
Not bad.
no subject
[ She seems startled when he addresses her, and she takes a moment to relax and absently rub at her sore shoulder. ]
Uhm... Thank you, but I am still quite rusty. It has been quite some time since I could practice like this.
no subject
Not that he knew swordplay, though.
There's something about her eyes that's familiar too, and it makes him think of the city lights at night. ]
Yeah, your leg looked stiff. [ He crosses his arms nonchalantly. ] Have we met somewhere before though? You look familiar.
no subject
[ She tilts her head at the question, humming before nodding as the memory comes back to her. ]
I think we have? At the carnival in summer, on the ferris wheel. At least, I think that is what it was.
no subject
[ Recollection dawns on him finally, getting a place to name where he'd met her. Those days had been pretty dark for him, it was no wonder he didn't really remember much. Plus, he'd never gotten her name.
Jean's eyes drift again to her leg, shaking his head. ]
Yeah. You definitely didn't have that when we met.
no subject
[ She rubs the back of her head a little awkwardly, taking a moment before kneeling so she can pull her pant leg up a little and show that it is not in fact flesh and bone. ]
It is automail, and I am still getting used to it. I had already been working on it for months, and with the arrival of a certain doctor I was able to have it attached at the end of August.
no subject
Doesn't that weigh you down?
no subject
[ She's standing back up again, brushing off her pants before looking to him and continuing to explain. ]
You see, it is connected directly to my body -- it functions as a real leg would. I can make it work as I would any other part of my body. I am still getting used to it, but even with some of the problems it can have I would still take it over being unable to walk at all.
[ A beat, and she adds onto her words with a hint of pride. ]
Miss Winry taught me how to build them when she was still here, before I even had a need for it. I had to study longer after her departure so that I could build this for myself when the need did arise... So I was able to put myself back on my feet as a result.

The form was nice, but, I see you had problems with your leg; do you need a doctor?
[As he could only glean so much just from a brief time watching her, he couldn't know exactly what had happened, though he was venturing a guess she was in the process of rehabilitation, or should be, at least.]
no subject
No, that is... It is not needed, my leg is fine.
no subject
You know, over exerting yourself during the rehab period can make it worse, in the end.
no subject
[ Ack. She's starting to get the feeling this man can see straight through her, and it's a very uncomfortable thing. She pulls a frown then, tense as she looks up at him. ]
I must ask who told you of such things, as I do not recall mentioning anything of the sort to you.
no subject
Not a soul told me anything; I happen to be a doctor. Now, while I am a doctor, a mind-reader I am not, but I will guess it was a major surgery. Did your doctor okay being here today?
no subject
[ She huffs a little, glancing away before rubbing at her shoulder again. ]
That aside, my leg is fine. I am still getting used to the movement, but it does not hurt in the least.
no subject
[He quirks an eyebrow as she rubs her shoulder once more.]
I can accept that, and as I'm not your doctor, I will let that be...
However, your shoulder clearly is bothering you.
no subject
That, I may have stressed too much. It has been quite some time since I have been able to practice like this.

God she's being cold. Considering what's happened to her here I don't blame her but still...
