17: Exertion (Open Action]
Who: Adela (
enchantressofore) & OPEN
What: After recently quitting her job at the forge due to job frustrations, Adela decides to push her luck with her leg and finally take up another love of hers again -- swordplay.
Where: Holodeck'd, Genessia City
When: October 8th to 12th
Notes and Warnings: None as of yet, prone to change dependant on where threads go.
[ It feels good to have her sword in her hands again, even if her footsteps still feel awkward.
Perhaps it's still too soon for this kind of strenuous exercise. Even with magic, her leg does still become sore from time to time. At that point she's mostly attributing it to the weather however, and what Trafalgar doesn't know won't hurt him, right?
It's with this in mind that, with some time off, Adela makes her way to Holodeck'd. It is strange but incredibly useful technology, and with a faceless figure Adela is fighting her hardest. It lets her turn her mind off, thinking of nothing but the opponent in front of her as she once again falls into a familiar dance in her swordplay.
At least, until her leg stalls briefly, causing her to wince and to block sloppily. She can feel the strain in her muscles from that, and she has to wince before yelling to end the simulation.
The images disappear and Adela leaves the room, sitting on a bench outside with a sigh as she rubs at her shoulder. That really hurt more than it should have... But at least it appears like her leg is still in working order -- it must have been a laps in concentration. She'll have to look it over later.
Who else might have been watching? Who knows, but whether she's still at Holodeck'd or is on her way home with the sword, she looks tired and is still rubbing at her shoulder even as she walks home. She needs to learn to block from that angle better... ]

Adela. And... Do not feel bad about that, honestly I have forgotten to introduce myself more often than I would like to admit to.
For what it is worth, you do seem to be in higher spirits than last time and I am glad for that.

[ There's no malice to his words, only the cheekiness of sarcasm and a grin to follow. ]
I guess I am. Work's not a bad distraction.
[ That, and he'd talked some things out that made him less... Cranky? Maybe that's the word for it. ]

She might be bad at identifying jokes, but she's not THAT bad. ]Just what sort of work do you do, if you do not mind my asking Jean? For here, I mean.

[ Obviously not working that hard, y'know? It's not the first time Jean imagines this is what the Military Police would be like back home. After all the commotion he's been through, he's glad he never went for that job. It's boring. ]

[ She's not meaning to mock him in the least, instead just returning the little tease he gave her earlier. She's still grinning, though she does rub at her shoulder absently while the conversation continues. ]
Perhaps I should not take up any more of your time if that is the case, however -- I would not wish to stall you further than I have already.

Don't count very hard. If the shit hits the fan, I'm just one of the grunts that has to come clean it up.
[ And right about now is when he figures he needs to find someone who can build him some gear like Mikasa's. His was still, presumably, at the Crossing. ]
Don't worry about my time, though. Talking to you is as much action as I've seen all day. This place is really quiet.

I work there with a man named Smoker -- it is a garage dedicated to building specialized motorcycles. I am nearing completion of one that can dive into the ocean for example, and have already built one that flies.
[ Again Adela is speaking with a great deal of pride in her tone, but in her defense she also thinks this stuff is really cool and so is the fact that she can build this stuff. ]
no subject
Is that all you build there?
[ Not that he knows what a motorcycle is. He's been in a car before, though? Lord forbid the day Jean Kirstein learns to drive... ]
no subject
Is there any reason why you ask?
no subject
[ Not even the slightest bit sheepish. ]
It would make work a lot easier.

[ Whoops. Talking business in their first conversation since their first meeting. Jeez. ]

[ He scratches his neck, looking a little sheepish finally. ]
What's that place called again? I might come hang out for a while, if you don't mind that.

[ She'll pull out her communicator and show Jean where it is on the map if he'll let her, so that he can mark down the place in his own at the least. ]
I cannot say I would mind, and it would be a good opportunity to show you the skill going towards your own project as well. Potentially, anyway.

I forgot this thing has a map. It's more of a pocket weight than something I use.
[ Despite that, he pulls his own out to mark down where the place is, pocketing his phone again when he's done. ]
Can't say when I'll stop by, but either way I'll have a sketch for you. Maybe a coffee if you're lucky that day.

[ She'll chuckle a little, shaking her head before straightening where she stands. ]
I should be off... Truthfully I shouldn't be straining my body in such a way so soon, though at least it is not my leg that is having trouble. I should probably keep it that way for now.
