Good afternoon and good day, from the lovely city of Fayren.

Well... perhaps not a city, in comparison. Township, perhaps.

It's becoming so cold and dreary out, isn't it? All the light and life of summer fading, the color of fall will be vanishing soon as well.

I never was one for winter.

To avoid becoming too long winded-

The coming months aren't ones that should be spent alone. If there is anyone out and about who feels they could use some pleasant company to stave away thoughts of loneliness and ward away the chill, I'm more than willing to make that kind of sacrifice.

[Translation: Jarlaxle is bored. Jarlaxle is going to do what he always does when he is bored.

Find some company.]

Consider me a holistic approach to seasonal depression.

A kindred soul, perhaps!

Though I find myself enjoying winter more and more as time passes. Perhaps you might offer examples of how pleasant your company can be.

Oh there is a charm to it, but I find it to be too monochromatic and quiet, personally.

Well good sir, for one, I must tout my ability to hold a conversation, and double that, an enjoyable one spanning a wide variety of topics.

For two, the view isn't terrible either.

Your words fall like arrows aimed to sunder my heart, and though I might speak to you of the beauty of simplicity, I must concede on the dreadful quiet; for such a time is...unneeded.

I might also concur on the view.

It stirs lonely thoughts, I'm afraid, all that silence. No voices to cheer the heart. Or warmth for your bed.

I come from the Underdark, the head of my house. Our kind are the drow elves, mightily different from our surface dwelling cousins. And most of us far less interesting and far more brutal than I. I'd like to consider myself a friendly and welcoming introduction to my species.

Winter does get cold. Do you know what warms me up? Good company and a lovely chat over a cup of tea.

Tea doesn't quite warm the way mulled wine does. Though I agree, good company makes a cold night warm again.

I am indeed! Though what are you then? I'd say human but it isn't often that hair color comes about. Something more celestial, perhaps?

I do enjoy good wine every now and then, but ah please pardon me, I'm doing my best to abstain from it because I get tipsy easily. I shouldn't be around karaoke machines when I drink wine either, or else I'll break out an aria or two from a few of my favorite operas.

My hair? No, it's just my grey hair showing my age. I'm a priest, though haven't been a very good one as of late, as I am busy owning and managing a small business of a tea cafe in this town.

Luckily for both of us, drinking seems to heavily impede my tune reading abilities, Abel.

I'll take that invitation! It isn't every day I get such unique company to chat with after all.

How come you were never one for winter? You can do many fun things during that season.

I mean I've not tried them all, but if it snows here I'll try them.

Winter is a dead time of year, at home. The fields are barren, the forests are skeletal and silent, most townsfolk remain indoors with their hearths to avoid freezing. I prefer summer.

Guess it's the same, except winter here people dress up warm and go outside to build snowmen or have a snowball fight.

They're fun.

It sounds like a great deal of fun! It is a shame that home has to be so dismal. Maybe I'll look forward to winter here.

If it does snow here we could have a snowball fight. Then you can see it as being fun.

Perhaps! I would like to enjoy every season the surface has to offer. Maybe with its more advanced technology, I can find comfort even during the coldest days.

Every season can be beautiful in it's own way, one just has to really see it. I hope that you do also see it like that. It will be fun when the time comes.

I'm willing to see the fun in almost anything. If this winter here proves to be less dismal than at home, I'll delight in having an entirely new season to look forward to.

I don't mind winter... I think it's because cold is something I am use to. But hey, people always do love to have company no matter the weather, don't you think?

Company makes any weather of any time of year more bearable. I've always been keen on excellent company.

The Underdark doesn't have much by way of seasons, and there was once a time where I was charmed by the changes in weather, but I've grown weary of winter.

Then what is your favourite season and why? I'm just curious if I have to be honest.

Summer and spring, by far. Goodness, even fall, with its colors and smells and sounds and holidays.

In fact the only season I can't call a favorite is winter itself, and even then it's less actual hatred or dislike and more of a... non-preference.

There is nothing that encourages cuddling more than a chilly winter night, though. I will give it that.

I guess I'm he only one who never saw winter like that. But then again when one lives only in a winter wonderland, one is use to the cold.

What an interesting choice of words. "Winter Wonderland". You really do make it sound like something magic.

Well, maybe this winter will be different than the ones I recall from home. I am, after all, in a new world.

I'd be surprised if something didn't surprise me here.

True, different worlds don't mean everything is the same, the fun thing is in the finding out.

You'll eventually get to a time where nothing surprises you if you stay long enough.

K-Katze is my boyfriend. We stay at the... at the 'Marsh Woodsman' right now, i-in Fayren, but I want to b-build a nice house for him soon.
