I Was Searching For a Clue
WHO: Raye Hino, Satsuki Kiryuin
WHAT: Satsuki is trying to discover the truth of Genessia, and pays a visit to the newly-inducted spirit representative. They'll either get along or scream each other's heads off.
WHEN: April 25, 2014
WHERE: Genessia Shrine
Raye's mood was significantly lighter, now that she no longer had to rely on painkillers or a crutch to propel herself around the shrine. Doing chores while hobbling about on a bum leg was hard work, but it wasn't as if she had a great deal of other duties to tend to, like school and being a sailor scout. Things were peaceful, and she was glad for that. Jaune was doing well, and her friend Minako had shown up.
On top of all of this, she was busy preparing for the cherry blossom viewing festival. She'd contacted some of the local eateries to see if anyone would be interested in setting up a food cart nearby, and the results were positive. There was a lot of work to be done. The courtyard and steps needed to be swept, the chickens fed, the shrine floors scrubbed, the bell polished... It was never ending.
At the moment, she was standing near the top of a stepladder she'd procured in order to hang strings of paper lanterns across the courtyard and from the boughs of the cherry trees already heavy with pink blossoms. She wore the scarlet and white of her old temple maiden's garb, her long black hair tied near the waist to keep stray locks from blowing into her face while she maintained her careful balance. Her brow was furrowed, all of her concentration focused on the task at hand and making her heedless of any temple visitors. It wasn't as if she was expecting anybody.

[Stupid rampaging monster. Stupid painkillers. Even so, she kind of thought she'd get bumrushed with questions. It isn't the case. Raye shakes her head.]
I don't mind, go ahead.
[About the...reading? She didn't hear about this, but it's not like the spirits tell her EVERYTHING.]
No, can't say I'm much of a reader, but I think I know what it is. A lot of the text we see is shaped in a way that we can recognize, even though most of us speak different languages. So if you picked up a French book, your mind would perceive it in the language you speak.
[Just like Raye is speaking Japanese now. She has no idea if Satsuki speaks Japanese as well. ...But Raye's getting ahead of herself, because language translation isn't what Satsuki experienced.]

She didn't speak with many people, though she did just assume Laharl is a japanese demon. Long story short the question of language translation didn't really come to mind and that hits her as well.]
I... See.. That does make sense; so then this must also work with spoken languages. Interesting..
[But that aside, Satsuki frowns. She would argue she believe Rei is 'making excuses for others laziness' but that wasn't important right now.]
And what is your part in all of this? Seeing as you can communicate with spirits, it'd make sense that you would be granted a special task.

[It's so hard to explain, and there's such a fine line to walk. But at least she knows now why they're hesitant to just drop the truth on everyone at once.]
I guess I'm a sort of mediator?
[She's not happy about it, but it's a duty.]
Anything else? I need to get back to hanging all of these up.

That and she may be overstaying her welcome- It wouldn't be good to annoy her best source.]
I see. That will be all; I appreciate your time and patience. [She proceeds to turn to the side, but then looks back.] Until next time, then.

It's no trouble. See you next time, Satsuki.
[She hoists herself up the ladder with another lantern, but pauses to watch the black-haired woman depart. She seems like she really wants to know what's going on with this world. The spirits are bound to take notice, she knows.]
Man, she is way too intense.
[And yet...also very cool.]
