[ Food not being fulfilling was more than enough to cause panic. She knew what she had to do to fulfill herself- it wasn't as if vampires were exactly a mystery when it came to the basics. But trying not to make things bad for Mercury was proving more than difficult. She was starting to resent him for trying to keep his record clear. She knew why. He valued his freedom, but to Emerald it felt like a waste. It felt like she'd lost a partner and now he a roommate. She still wouldn't rather be around anyone else here, but it didn't make her less frustrated about it. She still held a tiny bit of resentment toward him for refusing to go after Cinder with her too. It was adding up and leaving her more restless than she should be.
Between her absolute refusal to go hungry (even the start of the feeling was unsettling considering what she used to live with) and that, she had headed out after it looked like Mercury had gone to bed, slamming the door behind her just to annoy him. She doubted he would follow.
Now just to find someone who looked like no one would miss and like they wouldn't leave a bad taste in her mouth. ]

[ She looks a little confused. ] How did you do it? Sun just.. pulls me in and drinks from my neck. It's faster that way since the jugular's right there and he can hold me in case I get dizzy so I don't fall or hit my head or anything. I wouldn't let him do it unless we were sure he wasn't going to hurt me. I mean obviously you weren't the one who got hurt here but...
[ She can't see any way to really protect against that stuff without it getting intimate. ]
You said you did a bounty together, you've probably got a more positive relationship with him than I do.
no subject
[He grimaces. Listening to Weiss' explanation is actually somewhat physically painful.] Why would you tell me that? I didn't let her anywhere near my neck, but I had to cut myself and control my Aura so I wouldn't heal before she finished. I'm serious, I don't need to imagine two of my very good looking friends doing that. And now I'm imagining it. Great. [Except Weiss is dressed...differently in his imagination.]
Maybe. But you're the one who made sure no one would attack him without consequence.

Wha- I told you because safety is important. [ Her eyes narrow and she gives Jaune a look like he just said something offensive. ] He was eating, it wasn't like that. You know, I knew you were odd at times I didn't think you were a pervert.
Then put it on speaker.
no subject
I'm not? I-- [He holds his head and backs away.] It's just weird. Not you and Sun, but you and Sun while I'm an incubus. I figured out what I needed to eat, and it's different. But I guess we're all good enough friends to drink eachother's blood.
Oh. Right. [Putting it on speaker.]
no subject
Yes, we are. [ She makes a little annoyed huffing sound. ] What an incubus needs and what a vampire needs are two very different things, Jaune! Don't make it sound like I'm not being a good enough friend because I'm not--! [ She's definitely, definitely mad at him right now for even implying that. Enough that she clearly forgot it was late at night and raised her voice and had to cut herself off because of it. ]
[ She quiets down while it starts ringing, crossing her arms. ]
audio;
You've got ten seconds before I go right back to sleep, Em.
[ to say nothing of sassy and/or grumpy ]
audio;
I know they're different! And I don't know if that makes it better or not but that's not what I meant. If you could stop thinking I'm a pervert who resents you because you won't, y'know, help with what I need when I just keep saying the wrong things and I don't want to be thinking about sex all the time but it's like, it's like it's as important as...
[Oh wait. He hears a different voice that's not coming from Weiss but Emerald's phone.]
Uh. Hello. Okay, first off don't kill us or anything because of what I'm about to tell you. I might've accidentally poisoned your-- Emerald. I think I gave Emerald food poisoning. And now she's passed out on our couch.
Re: audio;
That was a great way to start this off. [ Okay, not sounding annoyed, not sounding annoyed.. ] Emerald's a vampire and she tried to drink Jaune's blood, except he's an incubus and she had a bad reaction. Jaune didn't do it on purpose, and I didn't do anything at all besides fish her phone out of her pocket to call you since I doubt the hospital's going to be able to do much for someone without a pulse. We have no idea what to do with her, but if my teammates wake up and she's on the couch still I doubt it's going to go very well.
Re: audio;
But Emerald did go out, and this was her number they were calling from... and it's not like she's the only one who's dealt with these transformations. Funny, that they both opted to keep their problems from each other.
They're partners, but they still have some work to do before ever reaching the point of actually being called "friends". ]
Worried you can't keep your squad under control? Some guardian.
[ That sounded grumpy. It's late, he's tired, and he doesn't want to deal with this shit.
But in the background there's the sound of a bed creaking, footsteps on the floor. He's up now, anyway. ]
You said Em tried to drink that kid's blood - how'd that go down, exactly?
audio;
It's not Weiss' fault that your friend is a murderer.
[After that brief flare of emotion, he lowers the phone down, listening to the background noises. He just sounds irritated now.]
I'm still here, you know. I offered it to her because she was hungry. [He doesn't need to know all the details. If Emerald wants to share, she will, but the last thing he wants to do right now is share with someone else he doesn't trust.] She didn't drink enough to make me dizzy, but maybe as much as a soda. It must have been enough to make her sick.
audio;
If you can't control yourself I'll handle this on my own. Do you want to stay and help or do you want me to clean your mess up for you?
[ She gives Jaune a doubtful look, then removes her hand from the device. Weiss isn't even sure if she believes that's the whole story. It seems weird to her that Jaune would just offer his blood up just like that or that Emerald would ask for it, but she doesn't say anything. Complicating matters won't make it better. ]
Jaune thinks if she drinks some human blood it might make her feel better, but I don't have enough to offer to try. If she was that hungry that she tried to feed off of Jaune I doubt she could really hold back much based on what I've seen so far from other vampires. Are you human right now?
audio;
[ Well, pissing Jaune off has raised his spirits just a bit, but this is still a headache of a situation he's dealing with. If he was human himself, he'd just let her take a bite, whatever. Technically, physically speaking, right now he is. But he's already transformed a couple times experimentally, seen a tail where his legs should be, marvelled somewhat at having feeling where there hasn't been any in years.
He's not sure if that makes him safe to drink from or not.
... But leaving her in Casa de Beacon Brats isn't ideal, either. ]
I don't think Em would want to live in a world where there's some of me inside of her.
[ Spoken as crudely as possible, naturally. ]
Right now, I'm human. Kind of goes back and forth. Think we can get some blood from the hospital? They've got to have a surplus.
audio;
I'll stay and help. [He just ignores that look. He can tell her later, when there aren't other people listening.]
Just talking to you is enough to make me sick. [Case in point.]
They were doing donations. We probably could. We wouldn't even need to demand it, I'm sure they'd be willing to give it to us.
audio;
[ She just gives Jaune a look. ]
Why didn't you just say that in the first place when I said the hospital probably wouldn't know what to do with her? [ She didn't say it, but she's definitely thinking they could've just dumped her off there and let the hospital deal with this entire mess. ]
audio;
[ Pants on, boots on, jacket on. All set. ]
I'll pick it up and head over. Let me know if she pukes or, you know. Dies.
audio;
[Averts his gaze, scratching at his horns.] I kind of forgot. We're not letting you know if she pukes.
audio;
[ She pauses for a moment. ] If all else fails, I can try to contact Lord Tepes. We don't have a terrible rapport, and if anyone knows what to do with a sick vampire, it'd be him.
audio;
[ He's out the front door already, one hand in his pocket, the other holding his phone as he heads down the street. ]
Once you square away which hospital it is, Weiss ought to call ahead before I get there. Might seem a bit suspicious if I just waltz in asking for a few pints of blood.
audio;
[He had wanted to donate, but was turned down. He had been so stupid.]
We'll make sure you can get what you need.
audio;
[ Weiss is getting out her phone once Jaune's helped her with Emerald. It felt strange working with Mercury to try to save Emerald in her house with Jaune, that was for sure. But as much as she didn't like them, it wasn't going to benefit either of them for Emerald to go down like this. She had no doubt that if Emerald went down here, Jaune would get the blame. The more she knew the more she was aware that all it would take is a single spin to turn the story into 'Deputy Guardian intentionally poisons girl over vendetta, ignores safe resource access.' As annoyed with this whole situation as she was, Jaune was right- it was the right thing to do to help her, even if she's absolutely sure that neither of them would bother to do the same. ]
At least we know she wasn't killing anyone for meals.
[ She says it with a bit of a sigh as the hospital's phone rings. Positive thoughts. The machine gets it at first, blahblah if you have an emergency hang up and call the emergency number and hold on the line for- Ah, there it is. Weiss goes to lean against the wall as she talks to the person about sending Mercury over. She has to confirm her identity since they don't want to just hand blood out to anyone and everyone before they'll agree to even hand it off to someone who isn't her, especially since neither of them are the ones who need it. But eventually they agree and she hangs up.
Emerald looks like she's got a cold sweat going on. If her body temperature weren't basically zero because of the undeadness, she'd probably have a fever. ]
They said they'll give you two pints, Mercury. You should be able to confirm your identity with your device and they'll sign it off for you. They said they won't give anything more without actually seeing her to see if she needs it. Apparently they've had a lot of people just trying to have "sick decorations" who are coming in claiming to need it.
[ There's an eye roll that's even obvious in her tone at the last part. ]
Re: audio;
[ There's the sound of an exasperated sigh, and then something akin to a blast - from the sudden whoosh of air against the receiver, it's safe to guess he's using his boots to pick up the pace. ]
I'll be there with four. A bit of righteous fury and some crocodile tears ought to do the trick, right?
audio;
[His voice sounds distant for a minute as he helps move Emerald. He knows it's a pointless argument, and they've already made their decision. Letting Emerald die would only backfire on them later. She would win either way, and that fact infuriated him. He angry whispers something about hoping someone would record Mercury's tears and considers asking Nora to break his legs.]
Just hurry up. If she dies because you took too long, it's on you.
audio;
[ She shakes her head at Jaune. ] No, it doesn't, but we're not pursuing anything without evidence, Jaune. Even against her. Right now she's just as likely to have killed someone as I am, at least in the eyes of the law.
[ She's trying to gently remind Jaune not to let his bias get in the way. She can't, so he can't either. Even if it's really really tempting. ]
We'll.. make her comfortable. [ Weiss gets up to go get a pillow or something, at least, to keep her head propped up. ]
