Nova City Trick-Or-Treat Walk!
WHO: Nova City Guardian/Deputies + YOU
WHAT: Halloween Trick-or-Treat Walk
WHEN: Halloween, Early Evening
WHERE: Nova City, near the Guardian Skywalk
WARNINGS: Hopefully not many? Adorable trick or treaters and just goofy Halloween fun tbh. Some of the characters are still affected by the curse but this is mostly just a happy lil log.
[ While each of the Guardian and Deputies is required to have their devices on for alerts in case something does happen, most of them are in front of the Guardian Skywalk this evening for a special event! Kids can go around visiting each of the Guardians, who are all volunteering to hand out candy. There are a couple of attractions set up for the kids nearby- a ring toss, a bean bag toss, laser tag, a kettle corn stand, and a stuffed animal claw machine. It's nowhere near the size of a real carnival, just big enough to get the kids out and have some fun. Naturally, it's a safe place for everyone and it's free for anyone 13 or under. Adults are welcome if they pay with a limit of one prize per game (seriously, this is for the kids, don't be a dick).
Each of the Deputy Guardians has a huge pillowcase of candy to give out though, so feel free to go up to any one of them to chat or to get some sugary goodness, see the costumes, or just enjoy the cool night air! ]

Weiss!
It would also shove the Deputies at the people, which she wanted to make sure they got plenty of face-time. Like it or not, politics is a part of this job and being a friendly face is part of making people feel safe.
But honestly? She had started to have fun. A little inspiration from some conversations with people here and Weiss had come as a variation on Snow White, though with no wig and her long white hair simply braided in a French braid over her shoulder. She might not be an archer by trade, but she seems to do well enough to be able to shoot little darts with ice dust packets on the end of them to show off as tricks to entertain the kids, and the candy she's giving out, of course, are caramel apples on sticks. ]

He flies up a few feet in the air, his voice...not quite booming because his evil voice isn't that great.]
I'm afraid your ice arrows won't stop me, Snow White! I'm here to take all your caramel apples and take over the kingdom!
no subject
We'll see about that, Arc... Enemy!
[ One of the kids laughs at that. Just one. Weiss rolls her eyes
she's funny damnitand fires two darts, two chunks of ice attaching to his armor when she does, but overall not really doing much. Weiss takes a step back, then looks at the kids. ]I may need your help on this, everyone. Quick, run to the ice chest and grab as much of the snow from the snow chest [ actually just a decorated ice chest with snocone ice in it, but it works and it won't teach kids to throw hard things ] as you can carry while I distract him. Snow angels are his greatest weakness, so if a bunch of good kids like you throw snow at him, I'm sure it'll work.
[ Almost all of the kids run off except one of the ones behind Weiss, who is apparently crying and Weiss looks.. a little perplexed at what to do. She glances back at Jaune for a second, then kneels down to talk to the kid, whispering to him while the other kids make their way back to her side with little cups of flavorless sno cones as fast as they can. ]

Your puns can't punish me! Swords and stones might break my bones, but words can never--
[He pretends to stumble back upon impact. Then he really does stumble back. Flying in the air, he circles the area behind her, giving the kids time to gather the snocone ammunition needed to defeat him.]
It's true that snow angels might be enough to save the kingdom. But only if you brave heroines and heroes throw as much snow as you can! [He's going to attempt his best evil laugh which is nothing compared to Sun's laugh, when he hears the crying. He freezes in midair, nodding at Weiss and waiting to see if she can help him calm down. Meanwhile, he ducks to a corner, where he put the costume prop to the side. It's just a simple plastic toy shield, light enough for a kid to hold.]
I almost forgot. I stole this from your kingdom last time we met, when you tried to use it against me. It's a very special shield because it protects the hero it chooses, but it's also so powerful that it can protect his friends when they're nearby. [Waving it around like it's nothing.] If only there was someone who-- Wha--!
[He's had a lot of practice with almost dropping his own weapons, so it's not a challenge to intentionally drop it near Weiss and the crying kid and make it look accidental.
Cringe. Face in hands.]
Oh no! It still has magic in it!
no subject
You hear that everyone? I need two of you to hold the shield and protect all of us while this brave young warrior goes on a quest to save the day. [ She sounds slightly smug about it, then kneels back down to talk to the kid. ] This will protect you. It's just like my partner's, and she's the fastest girl I know, so it'll keep you from getting caught while you find the Apple of Truth.
[ She takes the red cape off and puts it on the young boy's shoulders, putting the hood up so it covers him while he runs off to go get something that Weiss told him to. Two little girls run up and are holding the shield, kind of tugging it back and forth but always keeping it facing Jaune. They're giggling of course. The kid in the red cape goes running off to go ask at the table for an apple, insisting that there's a special one. Whoever's watching the table for Weiss looks a little confused, but ends up rolling one of the apples in the ice from the ice chest, so a bunch of the little crystals stick to the caramel and it looks kinda magic-ish. Such quest, what a hero. The kid runs back to Weiss and she nods, her smile a little bigger now as she turns around and points at Jaune. ]
Okay, kid. Here's what you've got to do. So those two girls are using the shield to stop him from attacking us. When everyone pelts him with the snow, it'll lower his defenses and that's when you've got to run up and give him the apple. The apple will turn him back to his true form. The Apple of Truth makes sure that even the most cursed of souls can be pulled back to their true form, okay?
[ She's trying to speak loudly enough that Jaune can hear it, hoping he'll figure it out once he sees the kid. She's sure it'll be obvious. But gotta let the other kids have some fun throwing stuff at Jaune first. ]
Ready, aim, fire!
[ All the other kids start throwing the snow, including the girls who are supposed to be holding the shield but eh, whatever. ]

So he just rolls with this new plot. The kids seem to be enjoying it and that's what's important.]
The shield is all about teamwork and friendship. Even an evil villain like me can see you can do it. [He starts to step toward the two girls as if to go past them and makes a big show of stumbling back as if repelled by the shield. Then what looks like, as far as he can see, a smaller version of Ruby Rose runs off to find the Apple of Truth.]
Why can't I get past you? You must be using all your magic to strengthen the shield. I've never seen anything like it!
[He hasn't put all of the pieces together yet, but he thinks he understands the general storyline she's planning. It's a good way to get all the kids involved and have fun.
He flies up again, but not so high that their throws won't reach him. Some of the snow hits him and that's actually kind of cold. He starts to try and block the snow, his flying becoming more imbalanced while he screams in his infamous way when he's scared.
He makes sure they get to hit him with more snow for a few more minutes before he drops to the ground. Another attempt to stand up again and his legs seem to cave beneath him. He's trying to look defeated and worried, but it's hard for him not to smile and it can be heard in his voice.]
Oh no. You brave heroes have weakened me and lowered my defenses. But if I eat the Apple of Truth, the curse will be broken and then...then I'll never be able to conquer Snow White's Kingdom.

...Plus, it's nice to actually get to play like a child for once.
Weiss seems to be showing the previously-crying kid how to do something really quickly and giving him instructions on how to save the day. Once she's done, she stands up and faces Jaune again, firing two darts at his feet so that he can't move off the ground because there are little ice patches covering them. (Honestly, he could probably break them with ease but that's part of the show now.) ]
Go forth, my knight! Reveal yourself!
[ The little kid bravely kind of waddle-runs in front of her and pulls her cape off. It isn't anywhere near dramatic or cool and he kind of stumbles with it, but he's trying to do what Weiss said. Once the red cape is on the floor, it's very clear what's going on. He's dressed up as Jaune, little foam armor and a orange and black hoody and jeans on. He's even got a foam shield. There's still tears in his eyes because he's clearly upset that his favorite Deputy is the bad guy, but Weiss told him if he eats the special apple then he will turn back into a hero so he's being super brave.
"Don't be bad Jaune, you're good! Be good! Weissy says- says you have to eat the apple and I'll save you!"
Weiss is just giving Jaune a little smile from behind the kid while the others are watching intently. ]

Weiss seems to be enjoying it too. He honestly hasn't seen her smile this much in a long time and he shoots her a quick grin before getting back in character.
He has a whole villain speech prepared and everything when the kid pulls off the cape and he...
For a few seconds, he's speechless and looks utterly astonished. All at once, he understands. Why Weiss knew what to do, why he had been crying. This kid looked up to him enough to choose to dress as him out of anyone or anything on Halloween. There were countless cooler costumes out there, but he had chosen his favorite Deputy. He hadn't even thought that... He feels something small and warm light up in his chest and he no longer bothers to hide a ghost of a smile. He doubts the he will ever understand how much this meant to him.
It's fine that way. He's been trying to fight, but he thinks maybe he can now.
Jaune nods wordlessly, kneeling down to the kid's height. Well, closer to his height, taking the apple slowly to try and make this as suspenseful as possible for everyone.
The ice crystals have begun to melt in his palm, and he ignores the strange texture and how cold the apple is, taking a bit. He closes his eyes as if conflicted about the internal good-vs-evil battle he's currently experiencing, when in reality, he's actually focusing on projecting his Aura just a little.]
I can't believe you used the Apple of Truth. I think it's working, I feel less evil. Maybe...maybe one more bite.
[He takes one more bite, and with some concentration, activates his Aura for a split second so that he briefly shines white in that magical, curse-breaking way to signify the apple worked. Hey, it probably looks cool. His eyes widen, and he looks around at his surroundings and everyone, understanding dawning on him. He smiles, addressing the kid again.]
You...you did it. You saved me! You saved me from the terrible curse, and now I'm good just like before. ...You know, I think you might be the bravest knight I've ever met. Thank you.
[For helping him remember and for believing in him. He kneels before him, much like a knight.]
It would be an honor to get to fight with you in our next battle for good! Along with all your brave warrior friends! [He stands up and gestures to the rest of the kids, beaming and meeting eyes with Weiss.]

Weiss was fairly certain that kid had just saved Jaune in more than just the little show they were putting on.
Once Jaune's eyes meet her own, he might notice that she almost looks proud of him for the blink of an eye. That is, before she covers up the moment. ]
I think it's only proper to give Deputy Arc a proper warrior's goodbye now that you've all saved him. [ She points at him dramatically. ] Everyone pile on Jaune!
[ And all the kids do. Full on dog pile. Weiss just stands next to them while Jaune gets a bunch of hugs, giving them a minute before nudging them onwnard. ]
Alright, I think that'll protect him long enough that he won't turn evil again for a very long time. Now, I think you all have parents that you need to get back to protecting, okay?
[ There's a bunch of 'awwwws' but most of them start shuffling back to their family's or whoever brought them, the boy just as Jaune lingering a little longer but eventually getting pried away by his mom. ]
I'm glad we did this.

And here I thought the red hood thing was a Ruby exclusive thing. She'd be so flattered to see you wearing one.
no subject
[ A beat. ]
Aren't you supposed to dress up as something you're not for Halloween?
no subject
I'm not usually a vampire. So this feels like fair game. [He takes his device out of his pocket.] I do I hope I change back at some point, though.
[He says as he snaps a picture of Weiss all casually like.]
no subject
[ She doesn't realize what he's doing with his device until it's too late. God. ]
Was that necessary? I feel like my friends are turning into paparazzi between you and Nora.
no subject
Yeah, of course it was. I need this documented to show Ruby in case she shows up. [He looks at his phone screen.]
It's not a bad picture, though.
no subject
[ She rolls her eyes. ]
Neither is the one Nora posted for the whole world to see of me with my dogs. It doesn't mean I want Ruby seeing it. I'll never hear the end of it.
no subject
You'll survive her squeeing over it. Plus you do look good in the costume too. [The colors aren't really all that different from what she normal wore, so it worked for her.]
no subject
[ Any armor is heavy for her, even if it's not real. She's used to wearing just her dresses. ]
How do I know you're not keeping that for yourself?
no subject
no subject
[ She's determined to find a way. ]
If there's anyone more stubborn than Genessia is, it's going to be me.
no subject
no subject
[ It probably sounded insane, but trying to 'prepare' herself for the possibility hadn't helped last time. She didn't want to think about it again. ]
no subject
Then let's both do our best to stick around for each others sakes. No matter what.
[He says with a little nod.]
Still..we should get more pictures together. Come on, lets take a selfie. Snow Weiss and the Vampire. Unless Guardians are too good to take selfies.
no subject
[ A beat. ] Actually, will you show up in photographs? I thought vampires didn't appear in mirrors.
[ Would a phone camera count? She's not too sure. ]
