Nova City Trick-Or-Treat Walk!

WARNINGS: Hopefully not many? Adorable trick or treaters and just goofy Halloween fun tbh. Some of the characters are still affected by the curse but this is mostly just a happy lil log.

[ While each of the Guardian and Deputies is required to have their devices on for alerts in case something does happen, most of them are in front of the Guardian Skywalk this evening for a special event! Kids can go around visiting each of the Guardians, who are all volunteering to hand out candy. There are a couple of attractions set up for the kids nearby- a ring toss, a bean bag toss, laser tag, a kettle corn stand, and a stuffed animal claw machine. It's nowhere near the size of a real carnival, just big enough to get the kids out and have some fun. Naturally, it's a safe place for everyone and it's free for anyone 13 or under. Adults are welcome if they pay with a limit of one prize per game (seriously, this is for the kids, don't be a dick).

Each of the Deputy Guardians has a huge pillowcase of candy to give out though, so feel free to go up to any one of them to chat or to get some sugary goodness, see the costumes, or just enjoy the cool night air! ]

[Jaune had initially been reserved about the whole idea. Lately, it felt like whenever he tried to help he just ended up making things worse: just look at what had happened with Emerald. But Weiss had requested it, and he owed it to her. Besides, he felt better if he was there.

His costume? An evil knight, because it was Halloween and it seemed like a fun idea. He still had wings and horns, which helped him hold up the whole image.

Sometimes he'll fly up and try to do a cool trick for the kids, not always successfully. He's not used to being in the spotlight, and he doesn't care about politics, but somehow this is easier than going to a party and forcing himself to socialize. The candy he hands out is an assortment of different things, but he swears the best candy is the dinosaur gummies.]

[It seems at some point Jaune made an especially spectacular crash right into the kettle corn stand which nage-Satsuki, dressed as Weiss, just so happens to help man at that particular time. The impact makes the machine go haywire and release such a massive burst of popcorn that it's raining the stuff for about twenty seconds straight, to very pleased cheering and applause.

She pinches the bridge of her nose for a moment before she offers him a hand.]

And what was that supposed to be, exactly?

[Any concerns that the crash might have given him a concussion are forgotten because that looked pretty cool. He even flies up around it before he notices Satsu--Weiss? No. Satsuki.]

A landing strategy.

[For a moment she stares at him in silence, uncertain if that was a joke or if he's serious. Eventually she clears her throat, as several popped kernels bounce off her head.]

And your evaluation of the results?

[Because she'd be more than happy to give her own. A very lengthy one at that.]

I made it rain popcorn and everyone enjoyed it. [He gestures around him. Did you hear that cheering, Satsuki? He folds his arms, looking more proud than he probably should.]

I'd call that a success.

[She doesn't appear very impressed, even after looking at the crowd. She also isn't the least bit surprised by his answer.]

Oh? Out of curiosity, how many of your successes have been achieved from 'happy accidents'?

[Satsuki you make it sound like he has a lot of successes.

His smile fades and eventually settles into a flat line. He shrugs.]

Do you think I keep track of this stuff?

[He's just...eating popcorn off the ground while talking to her.]

[That was her intent, but unfortunately the answer he gives isn't what she expected. She raises a hand to her face, followed by a sigh.]

Not really, but I had to be certain.

[As for his eating off the floor, she stares in disbelief.]

.. Arc, how did you and Lady Schnee become associates?

That's way too organized for me. That's more of a Weiss thing.

[He looks thoughtful.]

We had a pretty rough start. We were in the same class together at Beacon. There were some misunderstandings but we got past those. Now, she's...she's my best friend. We couldn't be more different but I think we're both okay with that.

Hmm.

[Satsuki's brows furrow.]

I may have mentioned that she and I met when I was.. 'Promoting' my academy. We have had our own share of rocky moments and there are some critical issues we disagree on, so I can empathize with both those points.

So you two are best friends. That certainly makes you an easy hire, doesn't it?

Oh yeah. Did you try to sing about her too? You both have pretty strong personalities. Maybe that's why. But I was able to count on you when it was important. That's what matters.

[He was smiling, but it fades. His voice is careful, like he wants to give her the benefit of doubt.]

Are you trying to imply something?

[While she is surprised by the question, it doesn't make her serious expression faulter.]

I have not 'sung' to anyone, [Though she is dressed as her, which could be considered goofy in its own right even if she doesn't think so.] But I agree that dependability is a vital trait.

Is it considered abnormal to question the qualifications of a man that eats off the floor where you're from?

[He narrows his eyes, putting a hand on his hip.] I guess some of us can wear the dress, but not sing the song. I knew I should've dressed as Weiss...

Are you asking me seriously or is that an insult at the five second rule?

[She's going to ignore the comment about dressing as Weiss since she's annoyed enough as is.]

That is one of several serious questions I have but you do not have to answer it; I will narrow them all down to a single question.

What qualities or talents do you possess that earned you your position?

[His expression turns somber. Satsuki and him have never been particularly close, but he thought she was okay. It's probably the closest to being pissed she's seen him.]

Sorry, I wasn't aware there was another interview with you because apparently you know best you know better than anyone nevermind that you had some kind of conflict with Weiss' best friend.

You don't have to like me out believe in me, Satsuki. Trust me, I'm used to the latter. But Weiss hired me for a reason and if it bothers you that badly...I suggest asking her yourself.

[Satsuki's annoyed expression gradually slides back to something more neutral. She isn't surprised by his anger, of course, but she was expecting a different answer.]

Hmn.

[She knows he's being sarcastic, but of course she believes she knows better. Still, after her issue with Sun, she isn't convinced that approaching Weiss about the matter is good advice. For now she just writes off that he's some sort of support role.]

I shall take your advice into consideration. For now, I am going to find someone to clean this mess.

[She brushes off her shoulder then slinks off to do just that.]

Are you sure you can do that or are you going to ask them if they're fully qualified to pickup some popcorn?

[He half-shouts in her direction, but not quite because he doesn't want to scare the kids.

He could tell Satsuki that he and Weiss went through hell together...more than once, and that Weiss trusts him but he's not exactly thinking rationally, even less so listening to the implications of someone who up to this point he respected.]
