Cherry Blossom Viewing Party

WHO: Raye Hino, OPEN
WHAT: The cherry blossom trees are in full bloom, so this calls for a ~~weeaboo picnic party~~ traditional social gathering to relax, eat food, and admire the view. And maybe shenanigans.
WHEN: April 27, 2014 - All Day

Raye had indicated that the weather would be favorable on Sunday, so when the rain started coming down over the weekend, she got angry. And she ranted at the spirits, who didn't bother responding to her demands for pleasant weather to encourage attendance at the shrine. But to her relief, Sunday morning brought blue skies after all. Whether that was the spirit's doing, or if the skies were going to clear up on their own, who could say? Raye didn't care so long as she got results.

She rushed to the temple as soon as she was dressed in order to put up the paper lanterns once more...and to throw out her blanket on the spot she thought was the best for watching cherry blossoms. If no one else had claimed it first, then she was within her rights to aggressively stake her territory, especially if she was going to spend the day with Jaune and Minako, possibly some of her other friends as well. She hoped Harry would show up, but Everglade had a lot going on, so it wouldn't surprise her if he couldn't. She'd lecture him about it later.

Hastily she swept up the courtyard and tossed feed at the chickens, trying to take care of her daily chores before the first of the party-goers arrived. She'd worked hard to make this tradition a success, and no one...no one...was going to ruin it. Or they would face her wrath.

Somehow she had a feeling he'd say that. His statement made her blush though, remembering the last time they danced at the guild. "I... could, but..."

Ahehh...heh, god what is she even thinking. "I thought it might be nice to go somewhere different once in a while..!"

Yeah that's not suspicious at all right?

Natsu is a bit surprised by her determination. She didn't have to be so adamant about it. It wasn't like he said he didn't want to go.

"Okay then we'll do that." Seriously he didn't see the problem. Lucy was just being the weirdo she was.

Yaaah, even Lucy knew how weird she was being. She just wanted to have a nice night with him without worrying about trolling interruptions from the others at the guild. ... though with her luck they were bound to see Lucy and Natsu off to dance anyway. Still, Natsu was so obliging! Not a shock, but she grinned rather suddenly. "Okay. Is there anything you want to do afterward?" Let's just push those awkward thoughts out of her head for now, before awkward thoughts become embarrassing actions.

Ah yes interruptions and stalkers. Those would certainly ruin the mood wouldn't they. It was fun to all mess around together but he had just as much fun just going out and hanging out just with Lucy too. Not that he ever consciously realized it. That fact simply became nature over time.

"Well depends? We gonna eat anything before we go dancing? If we do then I wanna sleep in your room again~"

And in spite of her fussing, she'd eventually stopped arguing with him and kicking him whenever he invaded her privacy. It just came down to that she enjoyed being around him whenever they were together too. No wonder Raye was frustrated with her.

Relaxing against him again, since it was impossible to be awkward for long with him near, she let her head rest against his shoulder with a sigh. It was really a beautiful day for cherry blossom viewing after all and... wait what? She almost chokes at that question. "W...how are those two even connected?" What, if they don't eat he doesn't want to sleep in her room? Weirdo.

Honestly he probably was better off in that regard. Most didn't bother nagging him thinking he's dense or too stupid to put things together. So they focused on the supposedly smart half of the partnership. Needless to say being aware of things didn't help oil the gears to the inevitable conclusion any faster.

Though this was definitely a nice moment. Just sitting there, leaning against one another like that while the petals lazily drifted to the grass below. Her reaction shook things up a bit and he only looked at her curiously.

"Well you asked if I wanna do anything afterwards. If we gotta eat then we do that before heading back to your place. If we eat before we just head back to your place." All of this was said in the most obvious tone.

Not particularly, but they were closer to it every day. She huffed a soft laugh at his rationale. ".. then I guess we could go dancing first, then eat before heading back." Even if he did have to sneak into her room still.

There's a pause, and she laughs quietly, "You know, really should introduce you to Raye sometime. You'd like her." Not that it was hard for him to like someone.

It was the best reasoning and she knew it! He wasn't fooled by it one bit. Even so it seemed she was really looking forward to the dancing. It was sudden yeah but if it made her that eager and happy then it was fine.

"Eh really? What are they like?" Now he was curious so this was Lucy's chance to make her sales pitch.

She doesn't have to admit it though! ... course if he wasn't fooled, then she didn't have to admit or not admit to it. As for the dancing - well, even if Raye *hadn't* suggested she take Natsu on a da- NOT date. Just friends going out! - she would have dragged Natsu out with her. They hadn't danced once since arriving and she missed it. Plus he liked dancing when it was with her so -- yeah, she's eager. Being able to spend more time with him, heck yes.

"Well... okay to be fair I haven't known her long but she's really nice. It seems she's been in contact with some of the spirits in this place too - they're the ones that warned her about that attack a few months ago. I think she has a power like Carla's - visions, and things." Only not as vague.

He doesn't even though it would make things so much easier. And more difficult at the same time. Even so he didn't know about Raye's suggestion for a date with a friend so honestly this was just more of him spending time with Lucy doing something she loved that he actually was goood at and enjoyed.

"Hoooo? That does sounds pretty awesome. We should invite her over to the guild sometime if she's too busy now."

Lucy nodded enthusiastically, "I was thinking that myself. I want her to meet everyone too." Because all of Lucy's friends need to be exposed to the insanity that is Fairy Tail. ALL OF THEM. Natsu's shoulder is a nice backrest though, and she didn't want to move too much when she'd just gotten comfortable, so she turned her head to glance at him.

"Since it's getting warmer, maybe we should have a pool party and invite Ruby and her friends, and Raye too. What do you think?"

Natsu was starting to get a few idea for a change in positions but he didn't want to risk it just yet. Not while this conversation continued on this note. Still he did slowly reach his arm around.

"Pool party sounds great! We do have the pool for it after all~"

Lucy paused in her thought process, but figured he was just shifting for a more comfortable position too. Which he kinda was. In any case as long as he wasn't moving to get up or push her off, she didn't think much about the shifting, raising a hand to scritch her nose briefly.

"Yeah, and if the weather warms up in Fayren as much as it has been here and in Nova City - according to the reports at least - I get the feeling that'll change. Besides, no point in having a big pool if we don't share it, right?"

Yes totally natural and just trying to get comfy. HE was telling himself that as well. Even so Natsu stopped at that, just supporting her body against his own as he did so.

"Totally. It' always more fun to use it wiht a large crowd of people than just one or tow."

It must be extremely cozy that way, because Lucy was even more relaxed against his side. She paused, letting her hand drop to his, resting her hand on top of his. "The guild seems to be at it's best when there are a lot of people. It's more lively, right?" She may or may not be curling her fingers over his hand. Maybe. She's trying not to think about it. She'll get flustered if she thinks about it.

...then again not thinking about things and going with feels tended to get her in over her head so .. it was a delicate line.

Clearly it must be. Why else would she relax so entirely in his almost!hold. If he noticed her hand on his then he was doing an admirable job ignoring it or holding back his reaction.

"Of course. Everything is more fun with lots of people." Natsu was a firm believer in "the more the merrier."

No reason! Suuure, none whatseover. She does pause a second, before moving her hand away, resting it against her lap again. Oddly, she closes her eyes for a few seconds, as if just cutting out every sensation except for the feel of the wind, and the more dominant scent and warmth, and presence from Natsu himself.

"Hey...Natsu..." She murmurs after a moment, quietly, an almost heavy quality to her words. But the moment passes abruptly, and she adds in a more light tone of voice, "Think we'll get any new members from here too? .. I mean, aside from the kids and Regina?"

Aww but he liked that hand on his own. Still he doesn't comment on that and instead enjoys the peaceful moment until Lucy starts talking again. Only this time it's quite the odd topic.

"Given how we do things, I'd be more surprised if we didn't." After all Fairy Tail had this unspoken pull on those without a home to call their own anymore.

She had to say something. She didn't want it to get too quiet, after that conversation she had with Rei. She watched him out of the corner of her eye for a second, grinning. "Yeah, you're right. Especially if things get as chaotic as they usually do -" She giggled. "Kind of like what was in the magazines back home." Heck, probably half of the people in Fairy Tail joined up because of their shenanigans, and how strong they were.

Also just how comfortable did she plan on getting here? She kept shifting, slightly, until her arm moved behind him, mirroring the way his arm was almost around her.

He knew she was watching him. Of course he knew. But he let her think that he didn't notice. Even so he was thankful for the various topics. Things always happened when they went quiet.

"You're right. Everyone's got their own unusual story. It's kinda funny that way but they are all family now and it doesn't matter where they came from." Natsu said with a nod before he felt her arm reaching around him like he had done. Wait she was actually mirroring his move! Then that meant...

And while he was letting her think he didn't notice her watching him, she ... kept watching him, a faint smile on her face. In truth, the quiet is their enemy. And their ally. With her arm settled in place half around him, she glanced away after a moment, uttering a soft hmm, adding a little teasingly, "Maybe we should start having a betting contest on who we'll see next?" She's sure the guild back home had one on when Al and Bisca would have a kid.

Or when she and Natsu -- uh... moving on.

That smile was still cheating and it made his ticker tick quicker even more. Even so he had the distraction required to focus on other things. Too bad that didn't seem to be exactly enough. Natsu gave a small chuckle that shook up both of them when he heard her suggestion.

"Sounds like a plan to me. You wanna make the first bet?"

Not cheating! It was just natural. There was a lot Natsu did that she could claim was cheating just as easily. But she grinned at the sound and feel of the chuckle, warmed by the sound. "Okay. Theeen, I bet the next person to arrive will be... hrm... Levy-chan!" ... or maybe she just wanted her best friend to show up again. "What about you?"

Well then she should have spoken up about that. He wasn't a mind-reader. Then again that was likely for the best. Things were already baffling as it stands.

"Levy huh? Could happen. My money's on Laxus!" Gotta get all the strong people he competed with.

Nope never. Well...maybe not never. But still, if she said anything to that effect then he'd get an ego boost and they can't have that. She giggled at the suggestion of Laxus though. "Not Gildarts?" The strongest of them all? Or ..was that his second guess. "So... what do we win if Levy or Laxus show up then?" Lucy..may or may not be grinning a liiiiittle bit more than necessary. She has a terrible poker face.

Also her hand is definitely resting against his again. Must be a magnet.
