Hey, how's it going?

[Bet you haven't seen this guy in a while. Pine no longer! Captain Hammer is here.]

Some of you don't know me, so allow me to remedy that. I'm Captain Hammer, and I'm the city's guardian. If you have any problems, come to me. It's my job to keep the peace and be the hero.

[He folds his arms, grinning his trademark grin.]

Today I'll be touring the school and giving an anti-drug talk to the kids, so I'll be out of touch for a few hours while I do that. If any of you attend the school, feel free to say hi. I give autographs at no charge for students.

Autographs? Why would someone want your autograph?

[He gives her a sympathetic look. It's a sad thing to be ignorant.]

Because I'm Captain Hammer.

That means absolutely nothing to me and it's kind of creepy that you're looking at me like that over not knowing who you are already.

[ Sympathetic looks are things she's seen lots of times, but not over not recognizing some guy. ]

[It's so sad that she doesn't have basic manners either. :C]

Maybe you should brush up on your knowledge of the city, then. I'm the primary City Guardian, and resident superhero brought here from Los Angeles.

There weren't any superheroes where I was from outside of comic books. Which classes are you visiting?

[ She's definitely rude, but it comes with not really giving a crap about manners after a while. ]

Oh yeah? What did you have instead?

[He can't imagine a world without people like him, that's insane.]

Grade schoolers, most likely. Sixth grade and under.

[Most teenagers are a lost cause.]

In the first world, the police were the closest thing but they only ever came after the fact so it didn't matter. Second world, I started a battlefront and we protected each other. Though I guess you could count Kanade as a sort of superhero in that one, even if we were enemies most of the time because of a miscommunication problem.

[ She nods. ]

So what are you going to be telling my kindergarten class? I'm going to kick you out if you give them any weird ideas.

Aren't you a little young to be a teacher?

[She looks like she needs to be in school as a student.]

And why would you think anti-drug messages are a weird idea?

This is my second life plus an afterlife long enough that I stopped counting the years in between, so I'm technically older than I look.

[ Technically, anyway. ]

They're not, but some people like to lie a lot or say weird things instead of just sticking to the truth or they like to start talking crap about the people who ended up addicts due to whatever circumstances that never usually get mentioned when talking about that stuff. So! I want a preview.

[Why would she care about meth heads? They deserve what they get for being idiots with meth in the first place. That's what these talks are FOR, and if a kid's too dumb and rebellious to listen, they pay the consequences. It's not like it comes as a big surprise. But fine. He delivers his speech, and even has a catchy musical number tossed in there. Where does the music come from? WHO. EVEN. KNOWS. But the message isn't really much different than any other 'say no to drugs' presentation. There's just an absence of stupid puppets, and an advisory for kids to call Hammer if they ever come across someone who offers them drugs, so he can punch the drug dealer straight into a prison cell.]

The city's guardian? Sounds like quite the job.

It can be. But it's no different from what I did before I came here.

I see, were you part of the police force in your world?

I often worked closely together with the LAPD, but I wasn't a cop. No, I was a superhero. Keep my own hours, save people for free, that kinda thing.

[ he'll whistle at those listings. ]

Quite the achievements. How does one sign up to be a superhero?

[He chuckles. That's a good one!]

It's not something you sign up for! You either are, or you aren't.

[...Oh, he's serious, isn't he? Hammer looks thoughtful.]

Do you have any powers?

What exactly is it that you're guarding the city from?

Monsters, killer robots, megalomaniac villains, mad scientists, drunk drivers... Whatever fits the bill!

You're actually serious?

What about ... ghosts?

Of course I'm serious...about fighting crime.

[He folds his arms and leans slightly back.]

Ghosts? Never met one. Those guys are usually in Everglade, aren't they? Not really my jurisdiction, but I suppose I could take on a criminal ghost.

So then, only criminal monsters? What about monsters that haven't done anything?

[ She gives a little sigh of relief without meaning to. ]

I was just wondering if they were in the area. I've met a few before and was hoping they were around.

I try to be open-minded about that kind of thing, given the weirdos that come into this city.

[He almost asks if she's asking because she's a monster, but thankfully she supplies her reason, so he just nods understandingly.]

None here. Everglade's where you want to go, but I should warn you, they're not very friendly over there.

[ There's no point in saying that she's more than once wished herself to be a ghost. She hardly knows this Captain Hammer, though he seems .... agreeable and polite enough. ]

Not friendly? Would they attack me?

[ Then she becomes more curious because he's pretty passionate about his job. ]

So how exactly do you fight ... evil? Are you some kind of super hero then?

It's possible, especially if you went into a rickety old house. Don't know why they seem to love places like that.

[Even if he were a ghost, he'd still prefer someplace CLEAN. But now she's talking about him again, and that brings his grin back. His favorite topic!]

That's right. I've got super strength, super speed, and I'm impervious to harm. I've dedicated my abilities to the protection of the simple people, defending them from the vile culprits hellbent on corrupting the city with their foul, poisonous crimes.

Maybe the house was theirs. That's what happened in my last home. I don't think ghosts can leave their home for a hundred years. It's in the rules.

[ She had gone through the Handbook that Barbara and Adam had left quite extensively but this was a new place so maybe there was a different book, different rules? ]

You can't be harmed? At all? That's got to come in handy in a fight. Where did you get your super powers?

[He'd ask why she moved into a haunted house, but...yeah, she's not old enough for a mortgage.]

Are your parents insane?

[It's a legitimate question. He doesn't ask it incredulously; seems he really wants to know! As for the rest, he shrugs a little with a quirk of his mouth.]

I'm just naturally this way. Been so for as long as I can remember.

I have a question. You mentioned school but do we have to attend?

[She hasn't been to one in a few months and kind of doesn't want to start even though she probably should.]

It's not required. But young ladies need their education! Am I right?

[Especially blondes.]

Some do, but I'm not sure I need to for the job I want.

Of course you need it! Everyone needs a basic education.

[He's guessing her dream job is to be an actress or a singer, like most teenage girls.]

You have a back-up plan, right?

[Bingo on that part.]

I do, of course. [Considering she will be alive for quite a while she has plenty of time in the world to have backup plans.]
