[ Wherever Weiss is right now, it isn't her usual home or her office. It's not the Skyrise or one of Schnee Company's builings. It's clearly some kind of balcony with a panoramic view of Nova City behind it. She seems like she's a little irritated at something and she's wearing something somewhat more formal than her normal attire, though her hair is still in its normal style. She gives a distinctive, impatient look to someone off-screen of 'well? hop to it' before focusing her attention on the video. ]

Hello everyone. As of today, I'm announcing Mercury Black as Nova City's new deputy. Those of you who have a problem with this can deal with it because frankly, I've done a good job so far and I'm tired of being questioned every single time I do anything when so far it's turned out substantially better than anyone seems to expect of me.

You'll also notice that I've opened a new branch of Schnee Company in Attleton. It's time to stop resting on our laurels.

[ Honestly, nothing seems too off except that Weiss seems to be in a less than ideal mood. She looks off the camera again, a man's voice saying "All you have to do is sign here, Guardian Schnee, and it's yours." ]

It's about time. [ The video clicks off as she mutters that last part, moving away from the balcony. ]

C. ACTION; OTA
[ Well this was... unfortunate. Weiss had just barely woken up and saw what she had thought was herself slamming the door on the way out of the brand new Attleton location. She had no idea what was going on and frankly this wasn't how she wanted to start the day after the ribbon cutting ceremony. She's must've hit her head on something, that would explain how she could possibly see herself walking out of here too.. Uhg. Weiss sighed and went into her pouch to grab some aspirin only to find all of the Dust was gone out of it. Her next thought went to Myrtenaster- also gone.

...Did she get mugged by someone wearing a wig? As far as disguises go, herself against herself had to be the weirdest and most effective. What was she going to do, report herself to Blaze for mugging herself? As importantly, where did her jacket and petticoat go? Did the thief take those too? (What kind of Guardian actually had to deal with this kind of problem?) Even if she wanted to report it, her device was gone. Great.

Weiss frowned at her reflection in the window, then headed to Genessia City to grab one of her old outfits from the old house. It was closer than Nova so she wouldn't have to keep wandering around in the show without frills or a jacket, at least. There's not much left there since she brought most things with her, but her dress from her first Christmas party was and it was clean, so Weiss is going around looking extra snowy as she walks her way back to Nova City. The thief appears to have taken her car too. Feel free to encounter her anywhere on the walk back to Nova, looking rather concerned in general. ]

Do I look like I'm laughing? Nora, I get it. He's dangerous, and frankly he's obnoxious. But he has no criminal record, he's been doing just fine here, and everything that I've expected of him when I cleared the aforementioned record, he's exceeded. He's useful, and if he's going to be a threat I'd rather have it be where I can see him. No one's asking you to be his partner, you just have to manage to stand in the same room as him when we having meetings without being any more of a pest than he is.

[ She sounds awfully relaxed even as she says that though, and the wall and couch behind her look pretty foreign. ]

I'm not planning on trusting him, I'm planning on using him.

[Nothing about this idea sounds good. How can they expect Nora to work with a murderer? Who cares if his record is cleared (after Weiss cleared it, by the way), he's still a murderer. Not to mention, she can't work with someone whom she can't trust.

Nora looks very done with the entire idea. There's a long silence, because she's thinking to herself and...everything just makes her feel sick.]

[As unexpected as this is, Jaune finds he doesn't mind it. He doesn't feel much of anything, other than being moderately impressed that Weiss finally grew a backbone. He's tired of defending her when not only are his efforts thankless, but they often end in yelling and with him being seen as the one in the wrong.

And on the bright side, if he ever goes through with trying to murder Mercury (it's more tempting than ever) he'll have a better idea of where he is.]

[ Big sis is NOT happy about this very uncharacteristic development. She's been supportive of other things Weiss has done and tried to be a good big sister to her, but this was just the most ridiculous thing Weiss has EVER done. ]

I could stand behind every other thing you've done but this is where I draw the line. [ A tense intake of breath before she exhales. Really not looking very pleased with all of this and she's trying her best to keep her calm. ] Where are you?

What exactly is the line you've drawn, Winter? Making good business decisions or finally deciding that my opinion is actually worth something when it seems to be the only one that isn't acting based on how I feel?

[ It's good to know Winter doesn't believe in her either. One change people don't agree with and suddenly it's 'What's wrong with her?' again. Winter didn't have any right to tell her what to do. As much as she loved her, honestly, that's something she knows for a fact. ] I texted you the address already.

[Just...huh? Ruby was about to question her decision to put Mercury Black as a deputy, but then again, she don't have the full story of what's going on as she's a new arrival. However, she remembered Mercury Black as having a possible association and link with Cinder, and that's a bad connection.

And then there's Pyrrha...

Since she doesn't want to be questioned on her decisions as a leader. How to approach this? Well, she isn't angry, but more...concerned.]

All right, so. I wanted to know. Does Mercury Black have any positive qualities that we can trust him to uphold?

[Maybe Weiss sees something in him that she doesn't? That's what Ruby wanted to find out.]

[ At least someone's asking. Even if she isn't quite sure she trusts Ruby at this point either. Nora, Jaune, and Winter already turned on her without hearing her side of the story. ]

Mercury's dangerous, but as far as monsters here go, I don't think he's as far gone as most of the worst here. He's capable of choosing to do the right thing and he's proved that- both in action and inaction. He came for his partner when he could've just told us to take her to the hospital and deal with things on his own, so yes, I do believe there's some part of him that is capable of being fostered into something that can function as a deputy. Not to mention, he's got an intense understanding of criminal networks, likely knows a ton of them, and he's a better fighter than most people from our world. If he's going to be dangerous, I'd rather he be dangerous and on our side. I'd also rather one person actually trust that I know what I'm doing for once, but that's proving to be too much to ask.

If Qubine were the more emotional sort, he could lol at the thought of everyone questioning every single decision she makes. After all, if her followers constantly question her decisions, then what kind of leader is she? But then the fact that Qubine doesn't know what all has happened in the past is the other reason why he doesn't lol.]

Can you blame me? There should have never been a point at which the world decided I should be the only one taking responsibility for everyone and not being able to make a single decision on my own. Yes, teams are good, but teams are only effective if they actually follow their leader, not lock their hands any time they want to do something besides pretend everything's working out peachy the way it is.

I'm not a dictator, I don't mind arguments or suggestions if they're good ones. [ Which.. she definitely needs a suggestion after Nora quit. Though she's not sure she feels guilty about that- bad, sure, her friend abandoned her just because she made one decision without asking permission first. But guilty? No. This isn't Weiss's fault. ]

Regis blinks his eyes owlishly. He doesn't quite understand what just transpired but something seems off about Miss Schnee and her abrupt broadcast. Diplomacy may not be the woman's strength but she certainly seemed more diplomatic than that when they last spoke. This is why Regis is so surprised by this latest stunt.

[After his shift at the library, Blaze was taking a short ride around Genessia City on his motorcycle, as it was a good way to keep his head clear before getting back to his office in Attleton. His eye would catch Weiss walking to what he assumed was the direction of Nova City, and seeing that the archway was still a ways away on foot, Blaze would pull over to the nearby curb to speak to her. He took notice of that expression on her face as he pulled off his helmet.]

Miss Schnee? Is there something wrong?

[A stupid question, he knows, but he needed to see if he could help.]
