[Action] A New Arrival in Town

[Garrus has been in many strange situations before. He's been in many strange cities, hell, many strange planets , but Genessia might take the dextro-based cake. To be stuck somewhere, unable to get away even by ship? It was weird, even for his standards. There were races he had never even heard. Every city was remarkably different, even technology-wise, and in Nova City, the place he had decided to call home a few days ago, a young girl - a human (nothing wrong with that, but it was odd since they didn’t even have a spot on the Council yet) - seemed to be in charge. He had followed her instructions, albeit warily, and, well, they were right. Everything she said seemed to be true, from the housing to the pendants - he had checked. He'd be impressed if he weren't used to Shepard. But those days were long gone.

Living in a city meant finding a source of income and, well, Garrus was never one for peace and quiet. He briefly considered joining the police there, but memories of too much Red Tape in C-section haunted him, so he decided against that. He had read a list of bounties, though, and he had fortunately been transported with his Archangel helmet. He'd slipped it on before ducking out of his building , intending to introduce the vagabonds to the new vigilante in town when he happened to pass a man attacking a woman in an ally. He shrugged. A crime was a crime. He reached for his assault rifle before realizing he didn't know the city's rules on the matter - he was here to solve problems not start them. He cracked his neck. It had been awhile since he had had a good spar.

A few minutes and a disappointing fight later, an unconscious mugger was slung over his shoulder. Not knowing where to bring him, he headed off in the direction he thought led to the Guardian’s office, the body of the man thrown over his shoulder. After a few wrong turns, he finally arrived at the right place, opened the door, and strode into the lobby.]

((ooc: While this is aimed towards people currently in the Guardian's building, other people may interact with him on his way there so long as they do not prevent him from reaching the office since this was a quasi-planned thing.))

[He shows empty hands - not necessarily proof that he isn't dangerous, but at least a sign that he has no ill intent.]

For this place? Yeah. It would be unique where I came from, too. [chaos doesn't approach - he knows well enough that any sign of perceived aggression would cause a fight, and though he can handle himself, he'd rather not get into anything he'd have to explain later. Besides, Garrus strikes him as the kind of person he wouldn't mind being friends with. He can't read the Turian the way he can a human, at least not without actual effort, but surface thoughts and emotions come across just fine - and they all speak to him of a person of honor.]

Sorry. I didn't mean to alarm you; I'm working as an engineer in this world. Helping to supply the local authorities with something to better protect them from the kind of threats they face from certain outworlders would go a long way toward building trust between them and us.

[chaos shakes his head at that last.] No, they trust their own well enough. It's the outsiders they don't trust. People like you, and me, and anyone else who woke up in that cave.

[He's not going to let on that your secret isn't so secret, Garrus. Tact, he has it. He will smile politely and nod at the suggestion.] I'll see if I can get in touch with him. If nothing else, could you pass a message to him? I work with Aster Technologies, in the aerospace division. Ask for chaos; they'll know who to send him to.

That's the trouble with secret identities

There isn't, at least that we've found yet. But aircraft are still used within the cities, and if we ever do find a way offworld, I'd rather we have a ship ready to carry us instead of having to wait to build one. In the meantime, providing increased capability to the local authorities makes them better able to handle threats that would otherwise be beyond their power. Beings capable of destroying planets, for example. [He's under no illusions that he's the only one here with that kind of power, after all.]

It's been a while since anyone did so openly, but yes, it has happened. I think the main one's name was something like... Freezer? Frieza? [He shakes his head, not at all sure that the rumor he heard had the name right.] I can't be certain without asking around, but there were others who claimed he had the ability and considered him a credible threat. He may not even still be here, for all I know - but he's not the only one who has that kind of power.

Each city has its own assortment of monsters, thugs, and criminals, but they seem to fit the city's general theme. If the world you came from didn't have magic, you might want to avoid Everglade and Fayren, for example, at least until you can work out some kind of countermeasure. I've only been here a few weeks, myself - I haven't had time to dig around and identify all the major threats.

Elemental control, conjuration, things like that. Entirely different from powers of the mind, like telekinesis and telepathy. [What you'd call biotics, in other words.] There's some overlap, but not much.

[He did, but then he'd already plucked as much from your surface thoughts, Garrus. Don't worry. Your secret's safe with him.]

I'm sure they will. In the meantime, it's up to those of us who would stand against them to make sure they don't have the upper hand when that time comes. On that note, I should probably head back. If I can get a logic drive functional here, I might just be able to build a ship.

You're welcome. And I'll do that; I have a feeling that before it's all said and done, I'll need all the help I can get.

[And chaos is no Shion, but between the two of them they should be able to get something figured out. If nothing else, it'll be interesting to try and combine logic drives and mass effect propulsion.]
