[Action]
[Upon first awakening, Xul immediately drew his Scythe and Dagger, slowly making his way toward the opening of The Bay. He surveyed the surrounding area as if expecting to be attacked before returning to the pod he found himself in and investigated the items he had found next to him. The phone was of most interest to him. He turned it over in his hands a few times as he returned to the entrance before casually tossing the device to the ground. He hovered his hand over the device for a moment, cricking his fingers and pulling up as if pulling the strings of a marionette puppet. Immediately, the phone began to grow in size, jagged metal protrusions jutting out of the device until it took a vaguely humanoid shape, with the touch pad used to operate the device taking up the golem's chest. After a moment of thought he commanded the golem to show what it was capable of, prompting it to tap its chest a few times, activating a video feed.]

[Video]
Fascinating... There is no magical aura from the device, meaning it's purely mechanical in nature, somehow. This is eons ahead of anything Sanctuary has. I suppose the spirit was right in saying I'm in a new place.

[He squints a bit as he turns away from the camera toward the city before him.]

But this place... it sits on the razor's edge while the Great Cycle has been ground to a halt. It's as if a sickness has taken hold of this entire realm. Rathma, Trag'Oul, give me the wisdom and strength to move the Great Cycle once more.

[Well that sure did sound ominous.]

Greetings! I take it you're new to Genessia. What's this Great Cycle you're concerned with?

[Hopefully getting it moving wasn't anything dangerous or something he'd have to deal with.]
treesus: (Neutral: Interested)

[personal profile] treesus 2017-03-01 09:01 am (UTC)(link)
Ah. I see, so it's a very important task. How does stalling this cycle cost future generations? A sort of magical transfer issue?

How do you intend to restart this cycle?
treesus: (Neutral: Mm?)

[personal profile] treesus 2017-03-02 08:25 am (UTC)(link)
It's quite a relief to hear something doesn't have some grand mystical cause behind it. [If it did, it'd probably become his problem eventually.]

Well, I've been doing research of this place, if you need help or find something of interest, I'd like to know. What did you mean? That this place sits on the razor's edge?

[Spectra is still spooking around Genessia, not quite finished getting to know this city before moving on to Everglade. As per usual, she does her best to remain hidden from the prying eyes of normies. Yes, even when she spotted this particular person.

She phased through wall-after-wall, dodging people until she poked her head out from a wall behind Xul and only caught the last half of what he said before she retreated back from whence she came.]

[Even if his voice is muffled through solid masses, Spectra knew she was caught. And so soon. She tried hard to avoid being seen, since she was so painfully shy. She wonders what gave her away. She heard something about "sense," but wonders if her metal rings which accent her outfit rattled too much. A ghost has to have the spooky chain-rattling, after all.

Eventually, Spectra did slowly phase out from a wall and into full view. She looked like little more than a high school youth and hardly like anything that could be a threat.

When she does speak, it's whispers and slightly drawn out.]

"You knew I was here...?"

[Definitely not a normie by any normal sense. Spectra continued to float where she was as she watched him play with his dagger. She can tell it's no ordinary dagger and might actually be able to harm to a ghost like her. She probably should watch her tongue carefully.]

"And what order would that be...?"

[Observing from a short distance away was Liam, and he watched with intrigue at the construction of the golem. Turning the device into a creature... such a bizarre idea.]

Your skill is most impressive. I've never seen anyone do such a thing with their devices before.

Interesting. Golems are a rarity where I come from. Not many have the means or skill to summon them.

[He certainly does... but he's never had a need to do so with his generals around.]

Such a thing may certainly be of use to you within the city of Everglade. But somehow I feel the creatures there would give you little difficulty.

[He finds himself slightly interested in the mention of this 'order' but he'll keep his own questions to a minimum. For the time being.]

Might I inquire what the purpose of your order is? Unless that is as much of a secret as your magical prowess.

[Cipher has come to learn that mages can be the most secretive sorts.]

I cannot blame you. Unfortunately, it is the closest to what I'm accustomed to in my own world, so I guess it's the best place to call home here. But I imagine it is easier for others to adjust to the remaining cities.

Your order must carry far more power than I could have possibly imagined, to be able to maintain such a balance.

[This man must truly be a powerful one indeed. The order's purpose almost reminds him of his own battle that he waged at home... although, perhaps Cipher took his fight too far. Or so some might think.]

Forgive me, I was imposing these questions without a proper introduction. My name is Liam Randel. The magical nature of others is a bit of a curiosity of mine.

You do not have such technology in your world?

{ This guy couldn't look more like a mage if he tried. Of course, Zeref's world doesn't quite have anything like this either - functionally, it's very similar to a communications lacrima, but those run on magic, not electricity - but this guy made it clear that they had nothing like it in his world. }

"Great Cycle?" { He has a feeling, having heard similar terms before, but he wants to be sure before he starts shooting down what is already giving him very unpleasant vibes from his days back in Mildian. }

{ Zeref just sighs at his words. Humans never change, do they? Not even humans from other worlds. What he says next, though, confirms what he thought. Now he just needs to be sure a certain deity isn't rearing his ugly head in Genessia. }

I don't suppose the word 'Ankhseram' has any meaning to you, does it?

I see.

{ Well, that's a relief; though Zeref doesn't let it show. }

Then, perhaps you will wish to hear about Everglade?

I would hardly call it a war; the Hands of Decay were far more of a threat than that rather short lived 'invasion.' Quite honestly, I'm surprised. Fayren is relatively peaceful in comparison to my world.

Oh?

{ The Dragon Civil War certainly took its toll on the world, but it definitely wasn't some near-apocalyptic event like Xul is describing. Actually, short of what Acnologia did on a few occasions and Alvarez' more brutal campaigns, nothing even comes close to that. It's almost difficult for Zeref to imagine. }

Then let us be thankful that Fayren's would-be invaders were, at least this time, weak.

A lesson humans have proven to me throughout the centuries, yes. Though, I must confess that so far, the humans of this world, as well as a significant number of those brought to it, have managed to surprise me. It's a pleasant change of pace.

I see. But what do you mean by sickness in the realm?

[The mention of balance between life and death suddenly makes the purpose of the Plague flight make sense.]

I'm not certain if it's really true that time stands still in our home worlds...but I would hope that it is. I really don't want the darkness to corrupt my world while I'm stuck here, unable to stop it...

Indoor plumbin' is still their finest creation.

Yes, mages tend to do that when ye give 'em too much responsibility. Goes right to their heads, it does, this is why ye should have a license to practice magic.
