[A skull-like being appears on the network - but no, it's not a human skull and it isn't the creature's actual head. Instead it is some sort of mask, through which yellow eyes glare angrily. These are the only part that looks to be truly alive, however. Much of the rest of his body is hidden by a cloak wrapped around his shoulders, but what other parts that can be seen are robotic, yet skeletal - including a claw-like hand currently clutched into a fist. Some may be able to tell he's some sort of alien cyborg. His metallic voice is harsh.]

Where are these so-called City Guardians and your military operations?

Your explanations are not satisfactory. It was a mistake to bring me here and I demand that you return me to my ship at once.

[ She shakes her head. ]

No one seems interested in trying because they're afraid someone might get hurt if the barriers go down. Everyone talks really big about getting out of here and fighting for freedom, but when push comes to shove I've yet to see anyone do anything but whine. I even tried suggesting trying something and everyone just said no. I want to be free, not dead because a bunch of whiny do-gooders decided I deserve it for even trying. They're already looking for an excuse with me.

I will fight for it as I have fought before. Against the oppression of the Republic and high-minded arrogance of the Jedi.

[He seems to get more worked up as he speaks and is about so say more when instead he goes into a fit of coughing.]

Never heard of either, so good luck with that. They sell these Ricola things at the convenience stores, they're pretty good.

[ How helpful. ]

[After a moment the hacking cough calms down again.]

A little sucking candy that helps soothe coughs.

[ she guesses she's not getting any info about Jedis or the Republic. Which she's guessing isn't of the Banana sort. ]

Like I care, but it's kind of annoying to talk with a guy whose hacking up a lung while rambling about Jedis and republics.

[There's a low growl but he then tries to ignore talk about his cough.]

Where were we...? So. The fight for freedom. I have led an army before and we can gather willing forces here to break this barrier and crush all who try to stop us.

[For added effect his clawed hand makes a crushing gesture.]

[ Yep. This guy seems more like the people she's used to working with than anyone she's met in a while. Almost feels like home. ]

I'm not a leader, so you might have more luck finding people than I did.

I don't even know you're name unless you want me to call you Captain Ricola. I can't promise I follow orders very well [ at least, not when it's not Cinder ] and I'm not likely to share much about myself, including what I'm capable of.

[He sounds insulted.]

I am General Grievous.

You could at least give me your name in return.

General Ricola then.

[ She grins though. ] I'm joking. I'm also Emerald. Not hard to remember. [ She motions to her hair. ]

[There's a low sound of irritation at the first but he lets the joke go.]

Emerald. I suggest you also tell me how useful you could be to me and any army that can be formed from the dregs of this city.

[ She's not half as useful when people know what she's capable of, so that's not something she's willing to admit publicly or to someone she just met. ]

I fight with a triple-combo weapon that utilizes dual revolvers, sickles, and kusarigama. I also have what's called an aura, which is something everyone from my world is capable of using. It basically acts as a shield so even if I get shot in the head, I won't die unless my aura is depleted.

[ And that's about all she's going to tell him about her capabilities. Her semblance isn't something she shares with everyone given that it involves the manipulation of others' minds and perceptions. Definitely not in the first conversation, if ever. ]

[ She also has lost track of her kill count given that she's not sure whether to count team kills and kills-by-proxy considering there are some deaths she could definitely take credit for even if she didn't actually do it. And then there's the whole Fall of Beacon thing... ]

Is there a war going on in your world?

[ There sure is now. ]

Civilization is basically combined to four kingdoms and a handful of villages that get knocked off faster than they can be built where I'm from, kept trapped by creatures called Grimm that think negative emotions smell good so fear attracts them. Any time there's public panic, there's a pretty big chance of a horde. And now if I had to guess, I'd say the rest of the world wants to go to war with Atlas after their armies turned on everyone in Vale alongside the White Fang, a terrorist group who fights for Faunus rights, and a ton of Grimm that broke through the shields in response to negative emotions. So there is a war, but there have always been reasons to need to fight before that.

Wars are always happening somewhere. There are always those who will fight and enslave and want to break and corrupt those they think are weaker. We must always be ready to fight against them.

[He sounds determined as if he's about to give a stirring speech to the troops.]

It's not about gaining or making a show of power, it's about taking it away from those who have it. At least in my world for the ones who started this. [ That's probably too much insight to share. Moving along. ] I'm not a soldier, and I don't think most people or causes are worth fighting for. You don't have to try to inspire me or anything, if it's something I can help with just keep me in the loop and I'll volunteer if I think I'm the best person.

[ Since that seems to be coming up a lot lately.. ]
