[Jacques isn’t sure what he’s doing here or how he even got here, but he is pleasantly surprised to see Weiss has opened up a branch of his company over here. Perhaps the girl had more of a mind for business than he had first imagined. Of course, it also could have been because of him; he’d given her ample time to think about things when he imprisoned her in her room.

With a few adept strokes, a video of him is being broadcast, glorious mustache and all.]

Good Evening. My name is Jacques Schnee, proud father of Weiss Schnee who you all seem to know. I trust that she’s been doing an honorable job of starting up a branch of the Schnee Company here in… Genessia, was it? However now that I’m here I’ll of course be stepping up to run my company just as soon as I get settled in. If you have any business with Schnee, be sure to send them my way and I’m sure we can work something out.

[He’s laying the charm on thick – it’s all about appearances, after all.]

Weiss, darling, be sure to call me and let me know where you are staying so we can have a little chat, just the two of us. I’m glad to see you doing so well.

[ It takes her some time to reply. This isn't what she wants. There are a few people she told about Jacques, but most people don't know who he is.. it's probably better, but she also doesn't want to let him just step in and ruin everything. ]

With.. all due respect, Father, Schnee Company here is independent from the Schnee Dust Company in Remnant.

[ Does he not remember? The broken window, being locked in his office, Weiss running.. Maybe his memories don't go that far. She's not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. It's entirely possible that he just doesn't care. For a brief moment she wonders if he'll even notice that she's older here. ]

I'd be happy to meet you in my office at the Guardian Skyrise in Nova City, though.

[ Not home. She wants him to know that she isn't just SDC property, even if it's clear that she's holding herself back and playing the public niceties game he taught all of them so well. ]

Nonsense, my dear! Schnee is Schnee! Besides, running a company is far too stressful for one so young and inexperienced. You should be out enjoying your youth and having fun. I'll take over until you're ready. You're of course welcome to sit in on meetings and learn how to properly run a business.

Of all the people to arrive at Genessia, it had to be him. It takes all of Jaune's self-restraint based on a promise not to go to the Bay and maybe give him a taste of his own medicine with an emotional blast of water Dust. He could. Weiss would never speak to him again and if her father was the way she described he'd inevitably find a way to work it to his favor and blame her, but he could. Instead he clenches his jaw, forcing his anger away for the moment, his reply extra bitter despite his attempts. He doesn't even pretend to be respectful.]

Hey, Jack? It doesn't work that way.

[Jacques barely hides the flash of anger of being challenged by a commoner.]

You don't know what you're talking about. Leave the business to the adults, boy.

[He recovers with a smile.]

Surely there's some nice girl you'd rather spend your time with than an old man like me. Run along, now.

[ Surprisingly, Weiss seems to gain a little confidence when he says that. Perhaps it's a smidge of rebellion, or perhaps that's because that's something she heard from a lot of people the first time she ran for City Guardian. Her eyes narrow slightly, but she manages to keep a calm tone of voice. Much firmer than she started as she's clearly finding her feet. ]

Father, I created Schnee Company here years ago and have run it rather effectively. Since then I've been elected by the people here to become Nova City's City Guardian and I've still managed to maintain Schnee Company through almost every city in this place while doing my job as City Guardian despite the concerns of many that I wouldn't be able to handle both.

[ Weiss is well aware that once they're alone it's not quite going to go as well. ]

I am on-call right now so I can't pick you up myself. [ She learned to drive and still isn't picking him up, how about that, Father. But she also knows better than to start a fight about that, so she does offer the next best thing. ] I'll pay for your taxi.

And I know enough that I'm aware you kind of need someone's permission before you can take over their company, and just coming up and announcing to the world that you're doing that before running it by them? [He thinks???] And I was a former employee for the company you want so badly and I'm a Deputy Guardian and I have my own business wow it's like people are capable of doing multiple things in their life or something. [Regis cannot help but arch his brow some at this unlikely announcement. It seems that Weiss been blessed with the sudden arrival of her family. That's a good thing, no? Of course it is! Why shouldn't it be? Regis is completely oblivious here about the Schnees and their history with others. He's just grateful that Weiss won't be without her family. That's why this humble king decides to welcome this man amongst all the disbelief.]

Greetings, good sir. Your daughter has done much for Genessia ovr the past few years. I can imagine she's overjoyed to see you again.

[Well, this is easy enough to recognize.]

Ah, so you're Weiss's father. Running businesses must run in the family, I see. What kind of company will you run?

The Schnee Company is Weiss's company, not yours. It has nothing to do with yours other than your last name and she built it from nothing at all. So maybe don't just show up and try to stake your claim on something just because it happens to share the same last name as you.

Not to mention from the looks of it, you just arrived. I bet all you actually even know about the company is that it exists.

[There is a hint of actual pride in that sentence. It's short lived, though. He sees what she's trying to do and he doesn't like it. The video is still public, though, so he has to keep up appearances; there will be plenty of time to bicker later.]

But you see why I'm concerned for your well being! That's much too much for one girl to handle. I will shoulder the company's responsibilities and leave the Guardian stuff to you.

[There's a note of distaste on that line; she knows how he feels about her career choice.]

With me in command, the Schnee Company will flourish even more than you've already made it. You'll be free to spend some downtime with any friends you've made while you were here.

But yes, please do send a car. I'm very eager to see my beloved daughter again; it's been so long, and it seems like you've grown so much.

[ It's those brief moments when she can tell that her father actually means when he says something like that that make it difficult. As much as she hates how he makes her feel about herself, as much as she hates being treated like a possession instead of a daughter, as much as she's scared he really is going to find a way to take away more from her here than she's already lost, he's still her father. That little moment of genuine pride hurts because part of her will always seek that approval even if she doesn't want it, her expression softening the tiniest bit after he says that. ]

I've already made arrangements for a successor so that I can focus more on my Guardian work at my preference. I'm afraid the contract's already signed, but I do appreciate the offer. I'll see you soon.

[ She's not sure she wants him to read that contract. It'll be too obvious what she was doing, and the fact that Whitley signed it is going to put him in trouble as well. Weiss's mind is racing with a way to try to make certain that the contents of the contract are kept, well, private. Regardless, she'll be calling a taxi to come pick him up. It shouldn't be a long wait at all, though since the taxi service doesn't have a pendant, he'll have to switch to a hover taxi when he reaches the Nova City archway. He'll pass by both the Genessia and Nova City branches of Schnee Company, though Headquarters is a little off his driving route.

At the very least, Weiss will meet him at the first floor instead of waiting for him to find her office like she does most others. ]

[Jacques scoffs. The boy's sorely lacking in respecting his elders.]

Clearly you were never taught manners; it's no wonder you were let go.

[He quickly recomposes himself. If this boy is so keen to defend Weiss, then perhaps he can sway him by showing he only has Weiss' best intentions in mind, even if it's not truly the case.]

Weiss is but a child still; there are certain legal rights that I, as her parent and guardian, have. The Schnee name is mine, anyway, making the company legally mine. But you really can't fault me for looking out for her well-being, can you? It's a lot of responsibility, running a company and a city. She must be exhausted. I'm merely going to ease the burden for her. I only want what's best for my daughter.

As a business owner, yourself, you must understand how tough it is balancing work and family; tell me, how much free time do you have to actually see your girlfriend? Are you certain you're not neglecting her with all of your duties?

[He frowns in thought before continuing.]

I must admit, I am surprised to hear you own your own business, seeing how young you are.. Just what is it you deal in?

[He folds his arms, his expression guarded. His parents taught him to respect his eldeers; he taught himself to respect people who've earned it.]

If you're her concerned father like you're claiming, shouldn't you realize that she looks different from the last time you saw her? She's older than me and I'm legally an adult. If you want what's best for her, then let her choose what to do with the company.

[He's beginning to understand what Weiss meant regarding how manipulative her father was. It's almost disturbing how good he is at sounding concerned.]

Yes, I run the largest company back where I'm from, the Schnee Dust Company. However I'll be taking over the company that Weiss has established here; it's using my name, after all. I'll take a look at the mission statement and then I'll make any adjustments I see fit. Weiss has done her best, I'm sure, but she's rather inexperienced in the ways of business. I'll mentor her in the ways of a successful company so that it can be hers once she's ready and of a proper age to run it - she's still just a girl, after all.

[Out of all the others who've 'greeted' Jacques so far, Regis is probably the most respectful. He's a stickler for manners and Mister Schnee hasn't done anything to earn his scorn, not yet at least. Although, he's admittedly curious as to why some of the others greet this man with scorn. Regis didn't glance at all the public video responses yet but some of them are quite concerning.]

Regis Lucis Caelum. [He introduces himself without title this time. No need to speak of his royal ties just yet. His name is quite long enough.] I'm an magic instructor at the Ivory Tower located in Fayren.

Miss Schnee assisted me when I first arrived here in this odd realm. She's done all she can to ensure the longevity of this world and people in it. Your daughter valiantly guards Genessia City.

[ Count Remilia as another that has no idea who this guy is other than being the Guardian of Nova City's father.

Remilia, of course, has a few inhuman traits despite looking like a ten year old, namely the red eyes, predatory gaze and bat-wings. ]

Besides, you have to understand, Weiss is much too young to have so much responsibility thrusted on her. She needs someone to help her bear the burden so she can have time for a social life, and I can do that; I only want what's best for my daughter. She's hardly versed in the workings of a business. I can mentor her and show her how to run a successful company just as I do back home.

It hardly matters what the actual area of focus of the business is; a business is a business. They all run the same. Yes, it fills my heart with joy to see how well she has done here, both professionally and personally. She seems to have made many friends and become quite successful. I'm worried that the poor dear is overworking herself, though.

I would very much enjoy that. It's rare that I find a man of intellect comparable to my own, doubly so here. It would be a very pleasant change of pace.
