[Action]

[For the first few days since the magical plague was reported, Erza was doing fine. Now, however, she seems to have caught it; every time she sneezes, her magic makes her outfit change. Her head feels like it's about to explode and she's exhausted, but she's not going to let little things like that get in the way of her daily routine! ...Though she may avoid Fairy Haven, just to be on the safe side.

She'll make her way to various stores, especially the bakeries and cafes. Eventually, she realizes that she should let Mavis know why she hasn't shown up yet.]

First, I don't think I'll be able to come in today. I'm feeling a bit under the weather... [She interrupts herself with a loud sneeze, and her outfit changes to something particularly ridiculous.] Excuse me. I think I might have caught infection that was mentioned the Tribune. I'm hoping it will pass in a few days, but I'll see what I can do for the guild in the meantime. [Sure, they just got a few members, but there's always room for improvement!]

[Video - public]

[After a talk with Mavis, she addresses the community at large.] Is there anywhere I can stay until this infection has run its course? I've been living at Fairy Haven, but that isn't an option at the moment. I shouldn't need much space; I might need material to work on rough advertisements while I'm sick, but that should be easy enough to find. [Even when ill, Erza still insists that she should be doing something.]

{ Zeref's expression lacks concern, at least not on any sort of personal level. Rather, his expression would indicate surprise.

He was right. It affects all mages, regardless of their power. Erza was an S-rank mage in Fairy Tail (a guild infamous for how difficult it is to achieve that rank in comparison to other guilds) for good reason, and Zeref knew firsthand what kind of pedigree she had as a mage, knowing her mother personally.

At least she's a Requip mage. And he can't resist. }

If it's of any consolation, I can promise not to tell Eileen that you contracted a magical disease, were she to appear, here.

{ Making light of it is the only way he can think of to prevent his Curse from realizing that Erza catching it means Mavis could, as well. }

One of many reasons why I'm relieved she's not here. [Another sneeze, and she's in her Flame Empress armour.] She's enough trouble without accidentally making people's clothing explode, or swapping bodies at random. [She's glad that the magic's just effecting her armour; she'd rather not have her weapons spawn at random.]

{ Yep, the disease is exactly as the paper described. Thank the gods this doesn't exist in their world, as far as he's aware; some insane dark guild would try to weaponize it. It's good thing that there isn't much damage it could do with Erza's magic, but Zeref fully expects that won't be much comfort to Mavis.

Though he agrees that Eileen catching something like this would be a catastrophe. One sneeze and Fayren's entire topography could change-- wait, what? }

Swapping bodies? { Zeref looks puzzled for a moment, before sighing, a hint of exasperation in his voice. } I shouldn't be surprised to hear she still hasn't given up on that. I take it this means she couldn't resist telling you the truth about her?

[Nope - they've just got that plague that turned people into Ichiya, which is almost as horrifying.] She went into great detail about it. It doesn't matter to me, though. As far as I'm concerned, Fairy Tail's my family.

{ If he had been around for that, he might have decided that maybe Acnologia had a point about destroying everything instead of wanting to hit the rewind button. }

Or so Mavis keeps saying about her guild. { She's certainly done a fine job creating those kinds of bonds between the guild's members. } But that wasn't what I meant. I gathered that she told you that you were her daughter from our last conversation. I meant about her no longer being human.

...Yes, that came up. As strange of a story as it was, I have no reason to believe it isn't true. [The dragons spent years inside her friends to prevent that sort of thing from happening to them, after all.] What they did to her because of that was horrible, but it doesn't make up for what she's done.

Yes... that disgusted me, as well, when she told me. I spent four hundred years observing the evil of humanity from the sidelines, and she experienced it firsthand. I know all too well how it feels when a complete stranger performs a random act of kindness after all of that time. In hindsight, I should have known that even if she would later wish to join me, she would always desire first and foremost to go back to being a normal human being.

{ He knows exactly what that's like, to be trapped in a cursed form for centuries and being able to think only about how to get rid of it. }

I would say that she did what I asked, but I am fairly certain that I wouldn't order her to try to take over somebody else's body. { All of the complications that come with that aside, he needed her in her own body in order to try to take Fairy Heart as painlessly as possible for Mavis. He didn't have the heart to try to do it himself. ~~Right?~~ } But I guess if she saw an opportunity, she seized it. Just like when she sent Acnologia out into the middle of the ocean.

...She did what?! When? How? ["Why" would be an obvious answer - everybody, no matter what side they're on, hates Acnologia, and the feeling's mutual.]

I trust you've seen Fiore's new geographical makeover? { She has to have seen it; she'd have to be blind not to. } A spell called Universe One, derived from her own enchantments and magic I taught her. I'd ordered her only to use it in case of emergency. I suppose Acnologia showing up ahead of schedule qualifies. The way she described it, she baited Acnologia into attacking her, and then cast the spell, sending him out into the middle of the ocean to buy time.

{ And sending him straight to the then-undefended Fairy Tail guild hall. }

I'm still not sure whether to call her plan brave or reckless. That spell had never been tested in the field, and its results were impossible to predict. Whatever the case, it worked.

That answers that question; I wasn't sure whether it was her, you, or August. [Maybe one of the other Spriggans, but Eileen and August are far and away the most powerful from what she's heard, so she'd prefer to think that one of them did it instead of one of the "lesser" ones.]

I can't say I'm a fan of everyone being shuffled around the country, [Quite a few people were badly wounded and needed bed rest ~~herself included~~] but I'd prefer it over Acnologia getting involved.

As far as I'm aware, August doesn't know that spell, and I had no need for it. If I had to guess, with her, it was personal. She knows she can't defeat Acnologia by herself, but given how much she's suffered because of him, I can't say that I blame her for taking matters into her own hands. Not what I would have recommended, but I can't argue with the results. Acnologia had already killed one of ours, and according to her and Larcade, there were no less than four other Dragon Slayers near Mt. Zonia at the time. It's not hard to piece together what drew Acnologia out of hiding.

{ He sees other Dragon Slayers as potential dragons. Misguided with Natsu, Wendy, Gajeel, Sting, and Rogue, but with Laxus and Erik... ~~oh gods Mashima what have you done?~~ }

If you don't mind me asking, who's body was it that she was trying to take? Yours?

No, she said that she wasn't able to do that - our magic is too different. [Seeing as Zeref spilled the beans on who was responsible for Fiore being rearranged like that, there's no harm in being honest - it's not like he can do anything about it here anyway.] Last I recall, she took Wendy's body.

I'm sure Wendy will find a way to regain it, but such an action will not stand. [Wendy might even be more powerful than her or Mirajane were at Wendy's age - if anyone can figure out how to reverse this, it would be her.]

{ Zeref actually frowns upon hearing Wendy's name. He'd met Wendy, of course; she'd been in Genessia twice, and both times, he actually enjoyed speaking with her. She even tried to 'save' his life, once; she definitely took after Grandeeny. }

I should have guessed.

Think carefully, Erza. When did you start experiencing symptoms?

I first noticed it this morning, when I was out for a walk. I haven't been back to the guild since, but I'll keep my distance to be on the safe side. [The specific reasons why go unspoken, but they should be obvious. Erza figures that the nature of the curse that Zeref and Mavis share shouldn't be brought up, for Mavis's sake at the very least.]

{ That's... not as helpful as he would have liked, but he can hardly blame her for that. }

I appreciate that. I've been focusing on trying to find the source of this disease in the meantime. Information is scattered, and I admittedly have made little progress.

I can ask around when I get to the inn. Maybe there's something in common with how or when we first felt the symptoms. [She wants to help in some way, even if going to the guild isn't an option.]

A disease that only affects mages is oddly specific. Too specific. { And also too convenient for certain people that really doesn't like mages and tries to paint them as a threat. } Mavis and I haven't been able to decide if whether that makes the possibility of it being created intentionally, if it was a freak mutation, or perhaps if it is, itself, magical in origin, more likely.

Still gonna work even though your sick?

[Tayler was always baffled why people do that, in her world it was simply because it was harder to earn enough sometimes if she did. people needed money to survive after all.]

If one is sick usually one should rest as it makes it go through the body quicker.

Of course. I work all the time, and I'm never sick like this. The way I see it, if I keep working like normal, I'll go back to being healthy. [Her logic is... flawed, as usual.]

People tend to think like that, but by doing so you actually spread the illness to around ten to twenty people. In this situation since it's not like a cold or anything, that could potentially be an extremely dangerous risk to take.

More so if the magic they know could hurt someone.

...It can spread that quickly? [She doesn't want to risk spreading it to Mavis or Zeref, though she'd rather not say why that would be the case.] I'm already taking time off of work, but maybe I should get somewhere safe as soon as possible.

You'd be surprised how fast other illnesses can spread. Just one sneeze in public and you probably could infect like five people potentially due to it being airborn.

[She paused for a moment.]

If you just rest by yourself usually that helps because then there is no way to spread it to others unkless people go in your room or something.

...That won't be an option, or at least it's not one that I'd like to risk. I work at a mage guild and live at the guild's dorms, so I don't want to worry about infecting my co-workers.

I've heard that they've set up a shelter in the inn, though, so I think I'll head there.

Yeah, if there are others that could potentially catch it, it is probably best to avoid them for the time being.

Also great, if there is a place best to go there and relax.

Erza! Is everything al... ?

[The sneeze interrupts Mavis as well. When she discovers the redhead's new armor she blinks. Repeatedly. It's the first time she sees that transformation. She's pretty sure it's useless in combat unless you're fighting... carrots.]

Something seems wrong with your magic indeed.

[Mavis sounds worried, and when Erza mentions the infection, her expression turns worried as well.]

I'm sorry, Erza. I wish I could do something... but if I come near you, I'm afraid it would only make it worse.

[As in: Mavis could catch the disease too and lose control over her curse, or Fairy Heart. She braces herself, forcing her mind to rationalize the situation. Worrying won't accomplish a thing. She has to be pragmatic, think and act like a Guild Master. Like Fairy Tail's Guild Master.]

Don't worry about the guild. I can handle it until you feel well again. So just focus on getting better.

[A pause.]

Where are you going to stay in the meantime?

Of course. Just stick to the guild; I'll be back when I'm sure that I'm better. [It's unfortunate timing, seeing as the guild's showing some real signs of growth, but she doesn't want to risk the disease spreading, or the potential members getting the wrong idea about Mavis as a result of that.]

...I'm not sure where I'll stay, actually. I'll have to look into that. [Staying at the guild had its benefits, so she never considered alternatives.] Are there any hospitals in Fayren?

I will. [She offers a reassuring smile, but deep down, she feels bad for not being able to be by her guildmate's side. Especially when Erza admits she has nowhere to stay.]

The main hospital is in Genessia, but I believe a girl named Yukiko owns an inn in Fayren and offers a shelter for people affected by the disease.

What about you? Are you going to keep the guild open while this is going on?

Okay. Please let me how you're doing, right? [She wants updates every day, Erza.]

Yes. [Mavis would hate to have to close the guild, even temporarily.] Zeref and I are simply going to have to be careful about the people we let have access to Fairy Haven, at least until the epidemic is over.

Of course! [She'd probably send updates every hour if Mavis even joked about that sort of thing.]

That sounds like a good idea. Just be careful - I can't imagine that combining this disease with Fairy Heart would be good for anyone. [Not to mention the curse, but she won't mention that out loud; at least Fairy Heart would sound harmless to any passersby.]

[No, combining this disease with Fairy Heart or the Contradiction Curse wouldn't be good for anyone. It would probably end up in a total disaster.]

I will be, Erza. Don't worry. And as soon as this epidemic is over, we'll go have some strawberry cheesecake at Fai's, how does that sound?

That sounds wonderful! [Another sneeze, and she's wearing this.] Don't worry, First! I will fend this cold off with all of my strength!

The Amagi Inn is taking people in that have been infected.

Thank you. [Another sneeze leaves her in her pyjamas.] This could be worse, but it's probably for the best that I get somewhere safe.

Huh. So your magic is an outfit change? [She's like one of those magic girls from a TV show..]

That's part of it. I can also summon weapons, though thankfully, that hasn't been affected yet.
