Looking for work

Would it be possible to find something around here involving flying something? Anything, really. I might need to practice a time or two, but I can pretty much fly anything with wings.

If not, maybe something mechanical or related works, too. Those two things are what I do best, and I need something to keep me busy and earn a little on the side.

At least, that's what I'm good at that's legal. I really don't wanna slip back into the old ways at this late date. Leia shows up, she'd have my hide...

I don't think there is anything you can fly here given the barrier but I know there is a motorcycle shop. Also probably other repair shops between Genessia and Nova City.

I think it's too bad no one's got what we call landspeeders here. They're better than ground vehicles. But, I'll make do.

Landseepers hoover right? I'm sure if you work where there are motorcycles they'll let you tinker. Maybe you can make something like that here.

Yeah, maybe. Not sure about building...worth a try, though, even though that kind of depth is usually my brother-in-law's thing...or my daughter's, young as she is.

Your thing is just flying then?

Mostly. I spent too much time being a juvenile delinquent....then started flying cargo in different ways...then the war broke out. Didn't want to get involved, but got sucked in anyway. And ever since I got married, I've wanted to keep myself respectable.

I should be able to pick up some skills with the vehicles here, though. Hopefully mechanical skill back home translates to here at least a little bit. I know there are a lot of differences.

I have experiance with that.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we pilots are kinda grounded here. There's something about a barrier in the sky that keeps us from gaining altitude.

[Being grounded is extremely frustrating for him, but what can you do.]

You could always check that Aster Tech place for a job in some kinda mechanical work. They might be the best place to start looking.

You got more to worry about than that barrier itself if you do get in the air. Don't know whether they're got the official information updated, but you're gonna have to keep a hundred feet away from the barrier itself if you don't want to pass out and fall out of the damn sky.

At least in Genessia.

I had an idea, but wasn't sure. Great...

Um...smuggling, mostly. But that was before I got caught up in the Rebellion and my life basically got turned upside down.

Okay, maybe.... a time or two since then...but not actively, really. Lending help to others, mostly. Some didn't mind helping us for the right price.

Some of us are thinking about building our own ship. If only so we can fly around, even if it's not too high. The main problem has ben finding the right components for the engines.

The Rebellion usually does that to people, I know it well.

Money talk is always a good way to convince people to do things.

It is. I had to build my own recharge station when I got there and I was lucky that I managed to find parts that were compatible with me.

Oh, no, It's not that. I don't really know her personally, I saw his father on base from time to time but everybody has heard of her. She did sounds a bit scary.

Oh, I believe you. Royals have a way with words.

[Kay can't make a face but his head tilts to the side in disgust.] It's better to avoid disappointed Hutts altogether, unless you don't feel too attached to your limbs and won't mind losing them.

It was a real mixed bag. I wouldn't have my wife and my family if I hadn't gotten mixed up in it all, but I'm still glad to put it all behind me.

I work with Aster Technologies as an aerospace engineer. If you know anything about building or repairing a ship, I could use an assistant. If that doesn't interest you, Nova City uses small craft for in-city transportation; it's not the kind of freedom you're used to having, but it'll get you in the air.

I know a few things, yeah. On occasion, it does come down to "give it a good whack", but I'm able to keep my baby running good.

Sounds great...I'll definitely come down and find out about it. Who should I ask for when I get there?

I agree. Usually, I got a co-pilot, but I haven't seen him around here yet.

Nice to meet a fellow flyer, though. What's your experience with?

Usually single-pilot fighters, but I do have some cargo experience, because things happen. Likewise. I'm hoping we can get something going in the air eventually. What's your experience?

Mostly cargo but I made a few changes to my ship. Now she's the fastest ship in the galaxy. I'm not unfamiliar with getting into fight situations, but I try not to make a habit of it.
