[It’s been a couple of weeks since Jacques took his place as mayor of Nova City and he’s finally settled in, fired his poor excuse for an assistant and gotten a new one. The office has been redecorated to resemble his office back home, complete with the portrait of his younger self. He sits tall in a new pressed suit that’s been topped off with a matching set of sky blue and white striped tie and handkerchief, hands clasped together in front of him on the desk.

Citizens of Nova City, it is my privilege to sit here before you as your mayor. Adjusting to life here hasn’t been easy, but I am fully confident that I will be able to run this city more efficiently than ever before with the support of you, its citizens, and the appointed Guardian, which by the looks of it will be my very own daughter. Rest assured, the two of us are capable of separating our personal and professional lives - there will be no corrupt bargains here. [Insert slimy politician smile here.]

Now, I know some of you are a little on edge with my new-found role. Understandable, given my unprofessional introduction to this world, but I assure you that you have nothing to fear. The position of mayor is one of give and take, and I am available to answer any concerns and address any issues that you may have. Why, I listened to you when you suggested this position over one of a Guardian, did I not? It is my duty as mayor to listen to all of you and respond in the manner I best see fit for our great city. Recently, we’ve seen a new transportation system. We now have living quarters up in the sky. I will do all that is within my power to ensure that Nova City’s Age of Prosperity continues to thrive.

So thank you, kind citizens, for electing me as your new mayor. Together we can make our city a place that we are proud to call our home.

[He holds up a finger to count.] She's been here longer, she doesn't have to ask you, and the first thing she literally said to you was to report illicit dealings which just, from an outsider's point of view, seems like a weird way to start a congratulations on your success. You don't understand anything. [His voice drops, growing cold at his last sentence.]

The same goes for our brains. [He wants to scream. This was not how he expected this conversation to go. But he manages to look not as upset as he feels about it backfiring.] Let me help you. I know more about the conflicts in Nova City than you do and I have different jurisdiction. Besides, I made a promise to someone.

[He waves him off.] We're family, Jaune. We have to make it clear to the people that we're not planning anything corrupt. That's all.

[And he's dropping it. Right now before it goes too deep.]

I would certainly appreciate that. I could use all the help I could get since I presently know so little about the topic. It won't be an overnight change, but I vow as Mayor that I will do what I can to help all citizens feel at home in Nova City, no matter whether they're organic, non, or somewhere inbetween.

Why would anyone think you're both corrupt?

[He doesn't particularly expect an answer, but he wants to see how he'll react.]

[Nice speech, Jack. He doesn't believe a word of it.] How soon can we start working on this?

[Jaune might get a slight glare from Jacques.]

I'm not saying they would. However, when you have two members of a family in positions of power, people's imaginations can be very creative. It's important that we make it clear early on that we are both capable of keeping our personal lives separate from our professional ones. [Or something.]

I'd like to have a few days to investigate the matter myself so I can be more informed when we meet. How does Friday work for you?

[Believe it, blondie. Jacques pays faunus the same amount as humans to maintain his reputation. You think he's going to sit back and do nothing when some basic changes can gain him a large group of ~~mindless idiots~~ the population?]

[His own face remains impassive and he shrugs. Jacques is the one who's getting defensive.]

I was just asking a question.

Sure. Friday works. I guess I'll go to your office?

[His reputation is on the line (not that it means much to Jaune). He has to protect it!]

That would be nice. I have a meeting first thing in the morning but it should be over by ten. Feel free to come by whenever is convenient for you.

[And just to be an asshole:]

I'll be there by nine thirty.

[Why.]

Excellent, then we can begin our work as soon as I get out. You might have to wait a little, though, but I'll be sure to tell my secretary to brew you a cup of some good coffee when you arrive.

[Please don't disgrace his office with those disgusting energy drinks or some cheap ass cup of joe.]
