[Just outside of every entrance to the Bay, new arrivals might find a magazine stand stacked with fliers, each one with a sign overhead saying "READ ME." On the flier itself is a message.]

[It's not that she didn't trust Harry, he seemed pretty cool and scruffy too, but she just woke up in a strange world and wants to keep her baby close to her for now.]

[Crescent Rose. So the... whatever it was had a name. He's not quite sure what to make of the thing but it looked fairly high tech, and important to her the way she held it.

Once she's settled in, he starts up the engine and heads off down the road. Time to take the Little Red Riding Hood lookalike apartment hunting.]

[It isn't what he wants to say. He wants to tell her not to worry about it, and that they'll all be back home before they know it, but even he doesn't have a whole lot of faith in that.

So, what do you like in an apartment?

[The question causes her to pause for a little. She really doesn't need a whole lot. She's used to living in a dorm with three other girls. She'll be happy with just her own room and a kitchen.

...But then there's Jaune. He may be older than her, but well... would he be fine taking care of himself? Maybe it would be best if she found something for the both of them. For now.]

Uh... Honestly I've never really thought of it.

But we should find something with two bedrooms. I have a friend who showed up here too.

[Honestly, Harry isn't convinced that Ruby living on her own was a good idea either. She couldn't have been more than, what... fourteen, fifteen years old?

Maybe he could check in on her from time to time. Bring groceries or....

Hell's bells, he was getting old. She'd probably be fine. Hell, Raye, was a kid and it seemed like she managed even better than he did most of the time.]

Ah, well, that's good. It's probably better than living alone.

[Because it's not like Ruby was going to be sharing an apartment with a guy right? Haha! That would be ridiculous.]

[There's a nervous chuckle at that, which only gets worse when asks about Jaune.]

We kind of split up for cover more ground, I haven't heard from him in awhile.

[That gets a sloooow sideways glance from him.]

Okay, so two apartments it is. Nice and several doors apart. Maybe even on separate floors.

[Such an old-fashioned guy.]

[Woah, woah, woah. She just wants to make sure the guy doesn't hurt himself while he's making breakfast or any other time of day.]

[Well this guy is a lot like her dad.]

[Ruby you are TOO YOUNG to be thinking about guys and breakfast!

He's kind of like everyone's dad that way.]

Great. Glad that's settled.

[He nods, and turns down on the residential area.]

It's still pretty empty. We can probably set you up somewhere with a view.

[She was thinking about his well being! If he cuts himself with a butter knife, it's all your fault Harry.

...And you can't deny her breakfast!]

Settled, yep! It sure was.

Ooooooh, That'd be cool. Do you think we can find something with a pool? I mean come on then I can be the kid with a view and a pool. That'd be cool.

[Harry will gladly bear the burden of that responsibility.

And she can have all the breakfast she wants! After a nice, peaceful night with no guy friends over.]

A pool? Hmm... actually, yeah.

[And he turns down 8th Street and towards one of the classier apartment buildings in town, and one with an attached swimming pool. Tupelo Alley.]

[She sticks her head out the widow as they approach the building. It's look pretty snazzy she has to admit.]

Ooooh... This is nice.

...But am I going to be able to afford it?

[You know what? Even if she couldn't, the stupid city could suck it up as far as Harry was concerned. If it was going to suck kids into this mess, it could at least let them stay somewhere nice.]

Don't worry about it. Rent's not too rough once you get a job.

[He manages not to say anything about her sticking her head out the window and parks in front of the building.]

Let's go take a closer look.

[She can't help it Harry, she's excited and has a short attention span like a puppy.]

Right. A job... ugh.

[That was not something she was looking forward too. Jobs were nowhere near as cool as monster hunting school.]

Woo let's go!

[And she's already out of the car and running to the door. You better keep up Harry.]

[Well, there were always monster hunting jobs in Fayren. Pay was less steady but it was good.]

It's not that bad--

[And too late, she was already rushing out of the car and up to the door. Harry blinks and just follows her out, taking a second to shut the passenger side door behind her.

Fortunately, he's got pretty long legs so keeping up shouldn't be too much of a problem. At least she seems to be in a better mood now.]

[Oh, did she forget to do that? Sorry she got caught up in the moment. Well, really it was more trying to get her mind of the whole job thing.

When she hears the second door close, she remembers that she forgot something and turns around.]

I'm sorry, I should have gotten that!

...Oh wow, you're pretty tall.

[Now that Harry's actually standing up, she can see that]

[Harry just waves off the apology, while he catches up with her to the door. It really wasn't a big deal.]

Tall and imposing. [He shrugs, grinning a little.] It's a wizard thing.

[Well she'll at least go open the door and hold it open for him.]

Oh wow...

So just how tall are you? Were your parents tall? Or were they wizards?

Are you born into wizarding or is it something you learn?

[Erk. Right in the chivalry. When he gets to the door, he'll grab it with one hand and nod for Ruby to go ahead first. He knew it was a polite gesture, but some habits died harder than others.]

[The next few questions get a second of hesitation out of him, and he loses a bit of that grin for a split second.]

Er... my mother was. Anybody can do magic if they have access to the right tools, but wizarding is passed down through bloodlines.

[Fine, be that way. Maybe she will just go on ahead then!

She does actually catch that fade in his smile. She knew she said something that bothered him a little, but with all her questions she had no idea what might have done it.]

Neat! ...Well we're here. What now?

[Her best recovery option, focus on the apartment hunting.]

[Oh, he'll be that way!]

[And he catches that enthusiasm drain away a little bit. Crap. It wasn't anything she'd said, not really, it was just that the subject of parenthood was a difficult one for him.

Two years. She was ten years old now.

Okay, yeah, subject change. He shakes that old one off.]

Now, we get you set up. Pick a floor.

[See the subject change was clearly the best option.

She'll take a moment to ponder that one. Four's a good number, there were four members of Team RWBY after all? That makes sense, right?]

Let's go with the fourth floor.

[And he heads off toward the stairs... walking right by the elevators completely in the process.]</i?

[And she cuts herself off and shrugs. She'll just follow him up the stairs instead. It must be a wizard thing.]
