I have a question.

[The young girl speaks as the feed switches of. Rapunzel herself was currently laying on her bed. She had spent the most part looking through the device and had come across the invitation. After pondering on it, she had questions because it was something new for her.]

It's about the costume party because, silly me. Not good with new experiences and all... I mean I have read plenty of books, but they don't quite help me for certain situations as they were mostly story books and fairy tales.

[Someone was starting to mumble, using her free hand to start playing with her blonde locks. After a good couple of minutes, she stops.]

Ah, sorry. I was mumbling. [A beat.] My question comes in two parts. For starters what exactly is a costume? I have little to no idea what one is. Secondly, what is a swimsuit?

No worries. A swimsuit is just just like it sounds. Clothes for swimming. They're usually pretty skimpy though. Skin-tight and more like underclothes.

A costume can be elaborate or as simple as you want. But it's something you wouldn't normally wear to anything but a special occasion. Like a disguise. You could dress up as your favorite fairy tale character, for instance. Or the wrong time period, or as an occupation you don't actually do.

I admit I've never seen clothes that are made for swimming.

[Because she's never been allowed outside the tower to even be able to swim. Also no stories that really involved swimming either.]

As for a costume, you mention like a disguise so it's like....when you see the bad guy in a fairy tale dress up to hide who they are? So that is what a costume is? I wasn't sure, but thank you for telling me. Though not sure would I could make as a costume though. Never made one before.

You can probably ask for help, and mix and match, go outrageous. Or make yourself a paper lantern.

Not sure if one could wear a paper lantern though. Or if that would end up being a hassle due to my hair.

Nah, it's a costume, it doesn't have to be real. Just make it look like one.

How long is your hair?

70ft... I think. Have no way of actually knowing its full length.

[But yet she can carry all that weight on her head without many problems.]

A costume is a kind of outfit you wear that tends to be silly or fun! So dressing up like an animal, or in the uniform of a certain profession just for a special occasion. At a costume party you can expect all kinds of different attire!

As for a swimsuit? Well it's exactly what it sounds like! It's a suit you wear for swimming so your normal clothes don't get wet an you don't go around without any clothes on. They come in all shapes and sizes, from small skimpy things, to modest full body covering suits. Back home I actually used to model various kinds of swimsuits for a magazine, so if you want any help picking one out I don't mind. It might be a fun thing to spend my time on.

Oh, so there are others kinds of costumes than just disguises so people won't know who you are. Like changing clothes?

[She only read stories, so she was very limited as to what costumes would exist. Animals were not something she would have considered.]

I admit... I really wouldn't know where to start with a swimming costume. It's never something I would have ever needed before, but I will call it a good experience.

Yes, these days costumes tend to be used more frivolously than for disguises. Parties, holidays, and fun are the main reason costumes hold a place in a more civilized world.

[Don't mind Mira, she's just going to start jotting down some swimsuit sketches.]

There are all kinds of different swimwear depending on gender, comfort, and personal preference. I personally prefer the freedom of movement afforded by a two piece bikini, but one pieces are quite popular because they stay together and tend to be more modest. Some swimsuits can cover even more of the body as I mentioned before, but the more you have on you while trying to swim the more difficult it can be.

[Mirajane holds up the sketches she made with a warm smile.]

Are there any kinds you think you'd like?

I didn't know that. I guess I learnt my something new today.

[Which she was happy about, but it made her pause for the moment.]

Though...For that costume party that is coming, I wouldn't know what to make.

[She was going to ponder that for a while, but for now time to focus on the whole swim suit thing.]

I... don't really know. I mean I've never really had to think about something like this before. Like is it a good idea to wear less, or cover myself and be modest... There is just a lot of factors... [Annnd she had started to mumble a bit.]

Well I'm glad I was able to teach you! It's been a while since I've had students.

[Though sometimes members of her guild do come to her to ask her to teach them various forms of magic, like her transformation magic.]

If you're worried about costumes, I happen to use quite a variety of costumes myself. Maybe I could showcase something for you and you can pick something you like?

[She was a model after all, so modeling costumes would actually be a fun refreshing change of pace from swimsuits and dresses.]

As for swimsuits? Well... it's all a matter of your personal preferences. I can't really answer that for you because it's very unlikely we'd share the exact same preferences. If you're going to be with just close friends you can likely get away with wearing less because they're people you can trust more. Alternatively you might even find that swimsuits that expose more of your body just aren't as comfortable for you, so it's probably best to try them out first before you commit to a plan.

Then of course I have a few friends that try to use this as an opportunity to attract boys, but I don't think that's quite what you're looking for here.

[apunzel didn't think to buy a costume and instead was planning on making one, much like how she probably made her clothes.]

So I have to look and find out myself. I think I can do that, look at samples and see what I like, what colours and what else I would need. Shouldn't be that hard... I hope.

[Give Mirajane just a second as her body seems to glow for a moment and then... *poof!* She's now dressed as a bunny girl.]

This one's great for parties, and very popular! Might not quite be what you're looking for, but it is a classic and the first one that popped into my head.

[Rapunzel is puzzled. What just happened? How did she do that? She really didn't know.]

So people like bunnies? I know they are cute, so that would make logical sense...

Bunnies are definitely popular, but then so are...

[Mirajane spins on one foot in her bunny suit, and with another little flash and a poof she's transformed her outfit into a cat costume, complete with claws, ears, and a tail.]

Cats! Nya, nya!

[Mirajane really enjoys entertaining people too much.]

So most animals are popular? I assume because cat's and bunnies are cute?

[She seems happy enough when talking, this was rather fun at the end of the day.]

But I would have to take my hair into consideration.

Animals are popular, especially the cute ones like cats and bunnies. Sometimes people will dress up as other types of animals but it depends on the occasion, and for parties you normally want to go with something cute or fun.

[Okay Mirajane is going to have to take a moment to consider that one.]

Your hair is a lot longer than most girls I've seen. Is it magical?

[She'll keep that in mind really. But for now, Rapunzel looks surprised for a brief moment.]

Ah, no. No not magical at all.

[Mirajane just giggles mirthfully at the surprise on Rapunzel's face.]

Well I have seen some girls who use magical extensions for their hair, so it's not entirely impossible. That reminds me though, I don't think we've been properly introduced yet, I'm Mirajane.

Really? [She smiles happily.] I'm glad.

My name is Rapunzel and not magical extensions either. Just normal really long hair.

Rapunzel, that's a great name! It's got this nice roll off the tongue kind of regal sound to it.

[Mirajane snapped her fingers as if remembering something.]

I've finally figured out who you remind me of! With your bare feet and really long blonde hair you remind me if master Mavis!

My mother gave me that name. Didn't know it rolled off the tongue.

[Not something she would have really thought about it.]

Mavis? Whose that?

Oh, Mavis? She's the guild master of the mage guild I'm a member of, Fairy Tail! You might see her every now and then because she lives in Fayren and runs the guild hall there, Fairy Haven.

I don't think I've gone to Fayren much, at best at least once. But I will make a note to remember.
