[Cut-Scene Thing] Backdated to May 2nd

Poor Froakie.. It took such a beating. But it wasn't said beating that caused Satsuki Kiryuin to give up on the whole 'pokemon trainiing' scenario. Since she had been provided the tools to start, she decided to at least give it a try to see what all the fuss was about.

In the end she wasn't impressed, and once evening had fallen she had returned to Genessia City and, presumably, home.

However along the way she noticed a number of stray cats or other pets had been running past her. The source wasn't of her concern, at least not until she had come across an ally in which a larger, yelping dog darted out, followed by a pokemon that she had never seen before that was in a tired, slouched stance.

Pawniard looked like she had somehow escaped the new archway- or perhaps she had been here all along? Either way she clearly had been having a rough day, considerably beaten up and tired. "..." Her eyes met with Satsuki's. She looked surprised a moment, then raised her bladed 'hands' in preparation to battle.

"I don't have anything for a fight, my beast has already been exhausted for the day." Satsuki replied, then took a step forward to continue along... Only to be blocked as the pawniard leaped back in her way. She swung her arms about, still determined to fight.

With a deep frown, Satsuki narrowed her eyes at the little monster as she grasped the hilt of her sword. The blade withdrawn then held in front of her she warned, "You do understand that, in your condition, you do not stand a chance against me?"

The bladed pokemon looked both terrified and yet also determined. Their gazes with one another remain locked in silence for some minutes- Satsuki had lost the track of time for a moment but during that lost time she came to an understanding. She could somehow tell that Pawniard desperately wanted to become stronger, that there is someone that she needed to defeat at all costs.

".. I see." Satsuki finally murmured. She twirled her blade and returned it to her sheath with a small smile. "Join me, and I will guide you to obtaining the strength that you seek. I look forward to seeing what you have to offer."

Mewtwo had been watching the exchange from a nearby rooftop. When he saw Satsuki's blade drawn against the Pawniard, he was ready to step in, should the Pawniard be in danger. And then something that defied all logic happened. She read its thoughts.

How could that possibly be? Pawniard was a dark-type, and all dark-types acted as sort of psychic black holes, with the Inkay family being the single exception to the rule he was aware of. Certainly now Pawniard had ever been capable of any form of psychic ability, and no human had ever been able to read the thoughts of any dark-type. This warranted investigation. If this girl (that upon closer inspection reminded him of humanity's greatest psychic, Sabrina) could pierce the veil dark-types wore around their minds... that power could be trouble. As such, he'll just be landing a short distance behind Satsuki after ensuring his mental shields were in place.

"How did you do that?"

"No human has ever been able to establish a telepathic link with a dark-type pokemon."

His eyes tossed a casual glance at the pawniard, taking a moment to attempt to remember any encounter he'd had with it, but coming up empty. "I have never seen it before in my life. As for what I am, you may call me Mewtwo."

There will be a short confused silence as Mewtwo looks back at the Pawniard. ...Yep, it sure does have a metal face. No muscles moving beneath the skin to read, no facial expressions, nothing.

"And just how does a human read the expressions of a pokemon whose expressions are by nature hidden from sight?"

The girl was... intriguing, yes, and while he wasn't about to cut the conversation short, he couldn't help but feel the ambition that drove her. He didn't know - or care for that matter - what the object of that ambition was, he had no intention of joining her as the Pawniard had. At the question, he just arched an eyebrow.

"I thought it rather obvious from my appearance. I am a pokemon."

"What you 'hear' isn't actually sound. I am speaking directly to your mind. In fact, should anyone walk by, our conversation would seem incredibly one sided."

His goal? He didn't really have one at this point. His children were strong enough to fend for themselves, and were beyond Team Rocket's reach, so he had nothing of any real import that needed to be done.

"I suppose bringing out my own full potential is as good as any goal for the moment. What of you? What do you hope to accomplish?"

Mewtwo remained quiet while she talked, but as soon as she issued her order, his face darkened considerably. A cursory glance at her mind showed him much. Ordering others around, ruling a... a school? Really? Anyway, ruling a school with an iron fist... there were too many similarities. There's no way he would allow someone like her to control him.

"No, I will not. I may have been formed and given life by humans, but I am under no obligation to serve them, let alone one like yourself. If you want my power, you will have to best me in battle first."

She was really going to do it. A human. Was going to attack him, the strongest Pokemon ever? It was all ludicrous, but at the same time he felt the need to put her in her place. He tugged at the cape that he had been wearing to minimize panic when civilians saw him, tossing the cloth aside.

"Your arrogance is great, I will give you that. However, ambition and power are not enough to call yourself a great trainer."

He took up his stance, tail flicking behind him and leaving a crack in the pavement where it came to rest. "But if you are truly so blind as to attack me, I will gladly make you aware of the difference between us."

Mewtwo didn't move. His stance didn't so much as shift a millimeter, but the attack never got close to him. As she swung her weapon, it collided with a barrier that glowed blue around the impact spot. The blue matched the now brilliant glow in Mewtwo's eyes as the rest of his barrier came into view, enveloping him in energy. With a flick of his wrist, the barrier turned into a shockwave, pushing outward with an equal amount of force as was put into the attack.

"I warned you, but you refused to listen. Now, you will pay the price."

He kept his arm extended as the barrier shrunk and formed a tight ball in the palm of his hand before shooting out at Satsuki's midsection with alarming speed.

He reached out his arm, calling for his cloak and pulling it around him again. With little more than an audible raspy scoff, he turns his back to Satsuki, ready to float back up to the rooftops.

"This fight is over."

Mewtwo looked over his shoulder with a disinterested look, only arching an eyebrow at the transformation.

"Change your appearance all you like, it will do little to close the gap in power between us."

His eyes glowed brilliantly, sparks flying from them as the car behind her spontaneously exploded.

The shield had been in place, but the instant Satsuki refused to move from the car's detonation, he'd counted on a counter attack and looked into her mind for the briefest of seconds to anticipate her attack.

As she charged, he shifted backward just enough to be out of the downward arc of the blade and brought down his shield. Yes, the energy with which the blade came down formed a few cuts on his body without the shield to protect him, however, it put her in a rather compromising position immediately after the attack.

A ball of black energy formed in his hand, growing with every instant that passed, and he was shoving it directly in Satsuki's face.

"Your Pawniard would have had more of an advantage against me. I can Detect your attacks, but pokemon have mental shields that can at least thwart multiple attempts. Shields that humans lack."

She was fast, that much was certain. He could not match that speed, but then again, he didn't have to. He raised his arm and waved it through the air, sending out a handful of star-shaped projectiles that curved back and homed in on Satsuki's position. While not his strongest attack by far, Swift would at least hamper her enough to land an attack, hopefully.

"Whether you have the ability is not my concern. My power is far beyond your league. Trainers spend their entire lives training and earning the respect of Pokemon and peer alike, and even then, they not always hold the power to tame legends. I am beyond even those legends in terms of power. Why should I obey one who has not earned the right to call themselves a trainer?"
