Summer Illusion: The eighth month of the year is the month of Love [OTA except for B]
Who: Mavis, Zeref and... You!
What: First, Mavis is preparing her date with Zeref. And then, two immortals on a date! <3
When: August 15th.
Where: By the lake in Fayren.
Why: It's the Anniversary of the month that Zeref and Mavis spent together before she died.
Warnings: We'll keep it PG-13. ;)
A. A fairy among the fairies [Fayren / Open to all]
Mavis arrived at the large lake in Fayren, carrying a heavy picnic basket with both hands. She set it down on the grass a few feet away from the edge of the water. She'd been told there were water fairies in this lake but she had yet to see them. She remembered the fairy she'd met before. Elatus. She wondered if he was still around. She should try and contact him, maybe?
It was a little before half past eleven. She'd told Zeref to meet her at the lake at noon. So she still had time to prepare a few things before he'd get there. She opened the basket and pulled out a large checkered blanket that she spread neatly onto the ground. Then, she started pulling out a bottle of wine, glasses, a selection of cakes from Fai's café.
Mavis was wearing this summer dress. Hopefully, her date would like it. She looked down at her handiwork, thoughtfully.
"Something's missing," she said out loud. "But what?"
B. Refreshing some memories [Closed to Zeref]
When the clock struck noon, everything was ready. Mavis gave one last satisfied look to her picnic blanket before flopping down on the grass next to it. The blond girl looked up at the beautiful blue sky, the sun and the few fluffy white clouds here and there.
It was such a gorgeous day.
Just like the day on which they met, by the lake. And just like the day when they went together to the lake and...
Mavis blushed at the memory. She had often wondered if he still remembered that month of August they'd spent together. But based on the last conversations they'd had, she now knew he did. And it made this date all the more meaningful.
That's what Genessia was to them after all: A second chance to resume their story where it had been so abruptly cut short. And on this particular day, it was truer than ever.

B
When Mavis suggested this, he was thrilled. It had been on his mind since midnight on July 31st; he had no doubt Mavis would remember this month, but he had been cautious about bringing it up. It turned out, he didn't have to. She remembered. And to suggest the lake in Fayren, no less.
Zeref wasted no time in getting there, once the hour approached. Wearing the same outfit he wore that night and when they first met, he found her lying in the grass, near a prepared picnic basket. He could tell by her expression that they had been thinking about the same thing the moment she said the word 'lake.' He knelt down next to her, and placed a hand on her arm.
"Happy anniversary, Mavis."
They weren't married. But this was about as close to an anniversary as they had. Nearly a century ago, to the day, was a night he had never forgotten, and never could.

"Happy anniversary, Zeref."
She squeezed his hand in hers, blushing. It felt like time had stopped between that day a hundred years ago and now.
She bit her lip, unsure what to say. She didn't want to break the moment but at the same time, she wanted to enjoy that date with him.
"I wasn't sure which cake was your favorite, so I took several. One of them is supposed to be make with real coffee." She had seen Zeref drink coffee every day since she arrived in Genessia. "It's called tiramisu."

He didn't remove his hand, even as she got up from where she was laying. "I admit, I've gotten somewhat fond of strawberry. That was you, wasn't it? Who convinced Erza to let me try some of her stock?"
But her description of Tiramisu was what caught his attention. "That... does sound good, yes." It was true; coffee was one of the few pleasures he indulged in whenever he went back to Alvarez, and it was nice to be able to have it whenever he wanted in Genessia. He'd always been a light sleeper - living out in the wilderness for years at a time will do that to you - so it wasn't as if it was going to keep him up all night.
"I'd like to try that."

She delicately picked a box from the picnic basket and opened it, before setting it on the blanket between them. Inside was a layered cake, covered in powdered cocoa. The blonde reached once more inside the basket and handed one spoon to Zeref while keeping one for herself.
"Let's try it, then."
She took a spoonfool of the tiramisu, but instead of bringing it to her mouth, she leaned in and pressed it gently against his lower lip. Friends share cake, fiancés feed each other cake.

But they could discuss that later. Zeref took the spoon, and nodded, a smile rarely seen in the presence of anybody but her spreading across his features. He was about to take a spoonful of the tiramisu, when Mavis brought hers to his lips instead. He might not have asked her to marry him, but maybe in a way it sure felt like they already were.
The taste wasn't anything he was used to. He could definitely taste the coffee, and he could identify mascarpone, and... it was good. Not the taste he was expecting, but very good.
"I like it," Zeref declared. "Where did you buy it?"q

Mavis couldn't help but beam as he praised her for the choice of the cake. "Fai's cafe," she said absentmindedly, biting her lip and wondering if he was going to feed her some cake too.
Maybe not? She'd seen some couples feed each other food before, in restaurant. But maybe Zeref didn't do this kind of things. Mavis was still very new to dates. To be fair, normal dates were not very common among members of Fairy Tail either...

After all, there's nobody who hates Zeref more than Zeref himself.
"I should have guessed," he said, taking his own spoon. Mavis had just fed him, so... maybe he should do the same for her? Taking the spoon, he scooped up a bit of the tiramisu and brought it to her lips, just as she had done for him. "Try it."
