Video/Potential Action for the Bay area

Oh my.

[The screen flicks on. There's no panicking, no yelling. No anger or fear. The smiling face on screen, if anything, looks calm. Calm, but with growing excitement, in the back of those brilliant purple eyes]

Well. I did just turn my paper work in for this years paid vacation. I wish I'd known it was going to be to another dimension, I completely forgot to fill out that section.

Bureaucracy can be so complicated.

[A brief tug at his tie to straighten it, a glance off towards the sound of a bus. Something flies past in the sky just behind him, its seven gleaming, insect like wings humming sweetly.]

But! What a lovely city you have here! And my, what a lovely greeting. The cave was beautiful, the water level perfect. The brain pod I awoke in was warm and accommodating, and the lovely holographic woman had such a soothing, sonorous voice. I'm very impressed, and it's only been ten minutes. Does this dimension have a yelp page?

[Meanwhile, Cecil is of course, still at the bay. Even when he's not in Nightvale, and technically on vacation, he's still working. A passerby makes it a point to skirt nervously around a small team of spiders collecting under a maple sapling, one of the arachnids furiously gesturing and calling out in a tiny voice, the language unknown.

A single leaf is starting to turn a brilliant, solid chartreuse as Cecil pauses under the tree, ignoring the hum of the seven winged dragonfly that just lighted on that color shifting leaf not too far from his head.]

Oh! The dining district isn't too far away at all, I wonder if I have the funds for a food tour...

I got roped into this vacation too, except I didn't have any vacation time to take. It's not so bad. This place is pretty okay, relatively calm.

They did give you money, so maybe. Is that what you want to do?

[He pauses.] Also, what's yelp?

Well that's hardly a preferable scenario, I hope your boss doesn't get too cross.

Oh yes, I'm quite the foodie. Always have to try the staple dish in every country.

In Schwenzenvach, for example, the prime dish was gently sauteed liver eel in a bright green, bitter sweet sauce, with a quick, cold shot of their best merlot. Very memorable meal. I've never encountered another dish quite as excitable.

Oh! Yelp is a website for the DIY critic on the go, I highly recommend it.

If he knew, he'd be pretty mad. [He waves his hand, but he didn't want to talk about that.] But he's not here, and apparently he won't know? It's like time doesn't pass, I think.

I never really thought about that before. Sometimes if something looks really good I'll try it, but usually I'm more interested in a world's music.

[He tilts his head, nope that doesn't help.]

A temporally disconnected dimension? Oh my goodness, well now I feel like I'm cheating. I only signed up for a two week vacation, but if time just isn't going to pass, well.

I wonder if I can take a vacation on my vacation when I go back. Oh, let me check, I might actually still have a chronological tracker on me.

No? I might hazard a guess you probably don't have the internet yet at home. Well that's perfectly alright. It is, basically, a method to let all your friends and fans know how good a place is to visit.

Yeah, I've been here longer than two weeks, definitely. It's pretty fun, even though you can't really leave. [He smiles and shrugs.]

If time truly doesn't pass, then yeah, I bet you can have vacation again after, and that's the best part!

[He nods a little bit.] Um, sort of, but not in the world I'm in really and I don't know much about it.

Well that is always the stipulation of course, you can't leave once you enter it. Technically, none of us should even have found this one! It's it fascinating?

I believe there is an internet here, I would go about familiarizing yourself with it. It is an amazing invention.

I remember when they first invented computers, long before the internet! What an amazing, intricate invention it was, with its lines and lines of wooden beads and soft, carefully spun silk. Very accurate, though figuring out decimals was never its strong point, it was whole numbers or nothing at all.

I guess you could say it is, yeah. I don't really think about that, but when I do, it's pretty interesting. I've been to lots of worlds, but none like this one.

[He tilts his head curiously.]

I guess so? I mean, I use this thing to talk to people but that's about it. I don't think I'd even know how to do it.

[He snickers lightly, oh it was so long ago.]

In my world, before my world with the Superior, computers were not even close to being imagined yet.

I don't know, every world is pretty different. Some of them have some serious magic. Could you imagine if you were an African animal or a merman when you got here?

[He grins.]

You are taking all this surprisingly well. It's not the first time it happens to you?

Normally I'm told when I'll be heading out to a new, unspecified, undocumented outer dimension, so it is a bit unorthodox, but ever since Charlotte was put on the vacation suggestions committee, they've been playing a bit fast and loose with their recommendations and transportation.

Oh. Your world must be more advanced than mine. We can't hop between dimensions, this was a first time for me. I don't think this was a mistake from your coworker, whatever brought us here probably did the same to you.

Well, as far as we're told it isn't. Only the average tech for your average twenty first century town.

It's more of a geological hiccup. Like a burst of natural gas from a cave, or a beautiful eruption of boiling water from a geyser, sometimes you'll open a door and find that it doesn't lead to the living room anymore.

Last time it was Guam, I was tickled pink.

[Dray's ears go up. All that sounds like magic to him but he has come to learn that sometimes weird things just happen, there's not even a reasonable explanation such as 'a witch did it'.]

Oh there's always a possibility of course, and the probability of ending up in an airless, freezing, crushing environment with no possibility of sustaining human life changes every day, but it's not much more different than playing the lottery.

Carlos has the best taste, the man is, essentially, perfect. A god among us in physical form and we should all be so lucky as to breathe the same air he does.

And he's a very good kisser.

I never liked playing games, I always had bad luck at those. While your world sounds very exciting, I think I like mine better. There opening a strange door only leads to the bathroom or the pantry.

When you say 'A god among us', are you being literal? Gods exist in my world too. Physical ones, I mean.

I only do them for myself so I never thought about selling them to others. I didn't know people could be interested. I can make some for you for free, it's not trouble at all. I'll need a few days.

Oh, Carlos would never do that, he's a perfect gentleman. I met him when he first arrived in our little town, in order to study the various differences between Nightvale and the other surrounding towns and areas. He's a scientist, you see.

He says we're all very unique.

Of course! Oh I couldn't possibly have you do it for free, I insist on paying. Take as much time as you need, considering time here is apparently no object.

I've heard about the scientist here but I've never met one. They don't exist in my world...I think. He sounds really smart.

Really, it's not needed. I hunt or fish my food and I have a new job too. I don't need anything. [Dray pauses for a second, and then adds, ] But I like flowers.

No scientists? Well thats terrible! How would you ever meet someone like Carlos if there were no such things as scientists?

Nightvale is a cozy, warm little desert community out in the midwest. Beautiful place, I know the most gorgeous spots for void gazing.

... What kind of flowers?

Maybe one day he will arrive here, then you can introduce us.

That sounds...nice. Void gazing must an unforgivable experience. Where I come from we watch the Northern Lights instead.

All sorts as long as they smell good and are not poisonous. I finished building my own house in the Fayren forest and I like to decorate it with them.

Is going to another place altogether without warning something you're really used to?
