Why is there a boardwalk if there's no water?

I'm not wanting there to be water, mind, but isn't the point of boardwalks to handle the rising tides? And what's the point of kidnapping people if you're going to let them wander around freely and set up establishments? What are even the ransom demands? It all seems as useful as a chocolate teapot.

[Awkward pause.] And is there a pharmacy around here? What kind of kidnappers provide pharmacies? Oh, I suppose I'll need a Doctor, since it's no good getting to an outside line.

Another election season is upon us, and I'm just so excited for it!

Before I get started let me just say... It's been just as much of an honor as I thought it would be working with Cassian Andor, and I wish him only the best, and hope he gets all the rest and relaxation he deserves.

He's a saint, and I consider myself lucky that he was so willing to work with me on everything. I am sorry if I was ever too imposing, Mr. Andor, and I feel truly blessed to have worked alongside you.

As for this year, I can't wait to see who we have running! I look forward to working with whoever becomes the new guardian of Attleton, these next six months will be magical!

It certainly wouldn't be the strangest thing that's happened here so far.

[What's that? A gold trophy and a bronze trophy? Just sitting there? Cecil is just off camera, but only for a second, he's quickly back on screen after, apparently, setting the phone up somewhere where it can actually film from a distance.]

I'm so humbled by this, I'm touched! I didn't even know you all liked me so much! I always assumed we were all good friends, but to have the depths of our relationship presented to me in metal, with my name on it-

I love all of you too! Every single one of you! I cannot even begin to express how much I appreciate this recognition, you're all so wonderful and I am so lucky to share a small, far flung, self contained pocket dimension with you all.

I have been thinking lately that I need a bit of a vacation from my brothers, actually, so I suppose this place happened just in time. There's only so many attempts of fratricide one can sit through before it becomes dreadfully old.

I have an announcement!

I'm a man of my word, Attleton, and I ran on a platform that promised a pizza party. Well, we are going to have one! I'll be making motions to rent space in the Attleton University for it.

[ For once, Cassian's video doesn't show the background of his office in the Attleton Guardian's building, but he seems to be some large building - a gym, it becomes clear if you look closely. I would like to thank all those who voted for me for their trust. I would also like to use this opportunity to congratulate Attleton's new mayor Cecil Palmer as well as the other elected Guardians and voice my hope for a fruitful cooperation.

[ He gives a curt nod. There. Done. Now to the important things. ]

But there is no time to waste on pleasantries. Attletonies, please mind the instructions for blizzard preparations you'll be receiving. For the duration of the blizzard, citizens are strongly advised to remain at home. Nevertheless, we'll keep patrolling the streets to provide help where needed and discourage opportunists from taking advantage. We're in the process of setting up again the emergency shelter at the Attleton Academies gym, as during the cold spell in December. A strong Neighborhood Watch presence will provide security. If the Red House Foundation can't spare staff for us this time, law enforcement will host all services in-house.

[ Yes, there is a certain pettiness to explicitly stating that law enforcement will be providing it, he's still a little sore about the debate. ]

Emergency services will remain active. If you run into any trouble at home, don't hesitate to contact the Guardian's office, we will dispatch the appropriate personnel.

And it seems I've been elected mayor! Everyone did keep telling me that the position seemed to suit my answers better, and well, if the majority wants me as the mayor, then I'd hate to turn them down.

What a wonderful election this was, wouldn't you all agree? Isn't politics fun?

Because you can't say you're going to throw a pizza party, and then just not throw it.

We are broadcasting live from right here in Genessia City. Many folks are in attendance, including our very own GCPD who are here to monitor and keep the peace. Let's begin the live debate-slash-Q&A you've all been waiting for. Here's how it works: You all come up with questions to ask each of the Guardians, and each Guardian will have the opportunity to answer it to help you decide which of your candidates is the right one for your city. You can submit your questions via text to the CPU and it will beam them to our stage, or if you're here in the audience, head on up to the podium and ask in person! Now to introduce our candidates.

Attleton puts the A+ in Guardianship, but will it be return Guardian Cassian Andor? Or will Chara or Cecil Palmer talk up a storm in the citizen's hearts?

Everglade as always returns with two beautiful ladies, the gorgeous and charitable returning Guardian Grell Sutcliff and a new gem, Emerald Sustrai! Who will shine harder in this debate?!

{ OOC NOTE: Anyone can reply to this post with a question they want to ask the potential City Guardians. Each City Guardian candidate is tasked with answering any question on this post. No candidate is required to, but lack of participation may affect public opinion of the candidate! Lack of any activity during the election season will disqualify your candidate, however.

On December 26th, the polls will officially go up and each character will be afforded one vote for each city. [ Cassian still looks like someone who hasn't had a good night's sleep in months and just plain weary in place of his usual severe officiousness. But hey, he's no longer in Imperial white or hiding. Yay progress. ]

[ He goes silent again, lips pressed together, gaze lowered for a moment before he faces the camera again. ]

Our town has suffered an unacceptable death toll and violence we have not known for a long time. For now, we are grieving, we are healing. But the message has been heard loud and clear. We have been reminded of our vulnerability. We have a lot of work left to do, and it will be done, whether by me or my successor.

As you could all see I was affected. I'm myself again and have returned to most of my duties, but for my absence in Attleton's times of need I can only ask for forgiveness. I can't promise it won't happen again if I remain in office, none of us can make such promises. All we can do is prepare, and make sure there are fail-safes.

[ Still feels like a failure. He couldn't even bail out Mobius once he returned, as he hasn't been formally reinstated yet by the one who suspended him. ]

In mundane news, the lake in the Attleton park is now safe for ice skating. The Red House Foundation's emergency shelter in the Attleton Academies' gym will remain open until the end of the cold spell.

Oh my.

[The screen flicks on. There's no panicking, no yelling. No anger or fear. The smiling face on screen, if anything, looks calm. Calm, but with growing excitement, in the back of those brilliant purple eyes]

Well. I did just turn my paper work in for this years paid vacation. I wish I'd known it was going to be to another dimension, I completely forgot to fill out that section.

Bureaucracy can be so complicated.

[A brief tug at his tie to straighten it, a glance off towards the sound of a bus. Something flies past in the sky just behind him, its seven gleaming, insect like wings humming sweetly.]

But! What a lovely city you have here! And my, what a lovely greeting. The cave was beautiful, the water level perfect. The brain pod I awoke in was warm and accommodating, and the lovely holographic woman had such a soothing, sonorous voice. I'm very impressed, and it's only been ten minutes. Does this dimension have a yelp page?

[Meanwhile, Cecil is of course, still at the bay. Even when he's not in Nightvale, and technically on vacation, he's still working. A passerby makes it a point to skirt nervously around a small team of spiders collecting under a maple sapling, one of the arachnids furiously gesturing and calling out in a tiny voice, the language unknown.

A single leaf is starting to turn a brilliant, solid chartreuse as Cecil pauses under the tree, ignoring the hum of the seven winged dragonfly that just lighted on that color shifting leaf not too far from his head.]

Oh! The dining district isn't too far away at all, I wonder if I have the funds for a food tour...
