[Well. It couldn't go back to completely normal, could it? The Great Deku Tree was still dead. But, it wasn't as if he could live on his own with the Hylians either. And, as much as he liked them he couldn't live with the Gorons. And he certainly didn't want to live with Ruto.]

Everything'll be back to almost normal. Life'll go back to the way it's supposed to be. I'll be normal, like everyone else. I'll be the right size, and I'll finally have my fairy, and no one will hate me anymore.

She laughed a bit. "You think that's what happens after adventuring? Returning to real life and everything being normal again?" She smiled warmly, but amused.

Well...I hope so? I have my house, and my best friend Saria to go back to. I'll visit Zelda lots, now that I know I can leave the forest without dying, but...why wouldn't things go back to normal?

"Alright kid, here's the thing. Rory and I have been traveling, doing the adventuring thing for a long while now. And every so often we find ourselves back home, in our own cute little house, with our jobs and Rory's car and we try. We make a go at real life. And we say that for sure, this time... this time real life will begin."

"And then, without fail, adventure comes back to us. Always. And when it calls... we look at each other, and without fail, we tell each other it's just one more trip, just one more adventure. But adventure... it's like... like chocolate cake. Before you ever have any it's something you see other people have, and it looks good, and you think you'll like it... or maybe it'll taste like mud. And then you try it. And it's amazing. Best thing ever. So you have more, and more, and more. Then you're sugar crashing with a stomach ache and you're sure you've had enough of chocolate cake to last your life time. And then... someone offers you more chocolate cake, and before you know it, you're halfway through a fat slice without a cup of milk."

Aw, c'mon, no one's gonna want me to go on another adventure after this! Once we save everything from the bad guy, everyone will be safe and happy and that'll be the end of that.

[He was just a little kid. Who would want him to do more than one adventure?]

She started coughing, trying hard not to laugh at him. Oh that was just adorable. One bad guy. One threat per world per lifetime. and everyone safe and happy after it. That was sweet. Completely deluded. but sweet.

"Yeah. Sorry. You're cute, kid. I like ya."

[Link ducked his head slightly. It was pretty clear he wasn't sure what to do with compliments.]

"Sure. You know what? bet I've got something sweet in the kitchen. Maybe we should go see?"

[Amy found one of his weaknesses. Food. Dinner time in the forest usually consisted of nuts, berries, roots, and the odd fish if they were lucky.]

She chuckled and headed into the kitchen. "You like custard?"

I dunno. What is it?

Oh the grin on her face. "Custard is a lovely sweet thing that is made for dipping fish fingers into. I'll fry some up, if you'll put the custard into bowls for us once I show you where everything is?"

...fish don't have fingers.

[Zora, on the other hand did, and that was truly disturbing.]

I can put bowls out.

She chuckled. "Thanks, Idris. Nah, fish fingers are fish bits shaped into long strips and breaded and fried. I guess they looked like fingers to someone at some point. Chicken fingers are the same thing, just with chicken instead of fish." She pointed once they got into the kitchen. "Bowls in there," she said. "Spoons there." She pulled out the huge bowl of banana custard and set it out, plastic wrap over the top, then started setting the fish fingers up on a tray to toss in the oven. Right. She reached over to preheat the oven.

[Link stared at the large bowl and the plastic covering it. He poked a cautious finger at it, grimacing at the texture of the wrap.

He then looked up at the cabinet that held the bowls and hoisted himself up on a counter to be able to get them easier. Link was surprised by the number of bowls and plates and such. He hesitantly got two bowls and slid off the counter, setting them beside the larger bowl.

Spoons, were an utter mystery. He opened the drawer that Amy had indicated, and saw the collection of flatware, of which he only recognized the knives. Link stared at the silverware for a few seconds.

Leaving the drawer open he went back to the large bowl of custard and shook it slightly, watching it jiggle. He then, walked back to the drawer, and with great uncertainty, picked up two forks, and set them beside the bowls.]

She got the fish fingers in the oven, then saw the forks and chuckled. "This place is filled with interesting ways to eat custard," she said with a grin as she pulled off the plastic wrap and threw it out. "You might have an easier time now." She grabbed spoons. "Also, these are easier to scoop it with."

Oh.

[Link awkwardly picked up a spoon in his left fist, trying to scoop out some custard into a bowl. His brow was furrowed with determination, but, it was fairly obvious he'd never used one.]

She smiled, keeping herself from laughing, and came up behind him, gently adjusting his grip, then putting her hand over his to help him serve into the bowls. "There you go," she said, grinning. "Fish fingers are almost ready."

[The sword on his back came naturally to him, as if he'd used it his whole life. The weird flatware on the other hand---his shoulder and arm were stiff as he attempted to maneuver it even with Amy's help.

Once it was in the smaller bowls he set the spoon down and stared at it, curiously.]

What's it made of?

"Metal," she said, teasing, then winked at him. "The custard has eggs, banana, sugar, cornstarch, milk, and some vanilla."

[Link peered at the dessert with increased intensity. He knew what eggs and milk were, of course. And bananas had been for sale in the market along with sugar. Cornstarch, he didn't understand, figuring it was actual corn, which seemed an odd thing to put with a banana.

Vanilla was an utter mystery.

Normally, he'd ask Navi about these things.]

What's vanilla?

Is that what makes it wiggly?

[Link poked one of the smaller bowls watching the custard jiggle slightly.]

She chuckled. "Vanilla is a flavouring. I think the cornstarch maybe what does it, not sure. If you want, we can make a fresh batch so you can help and see how it works. If we had the 'net, I'd just bring up a 'what is' video on Youtube."

[Link's expression was blank.]

How could a net tell us anything? Maybe there's a Gossip Stone that's heard something about it....
