Wonder Illusion: Talking flowers and giant apples [Video/Action] [Backdated to September 16th]

[Mavis is looking pretty serious this. She's smiling softly but it's not her usual bright smile.] Just a fair warning, some strange things have been happening in Fayren for the past three days. I'm not aware of anything life threatening but please be careful... especially when you're opening doors or eating cookies or cakes.

If you need assistance, don't hesitate to message Fayren's Guardian or one of her Deputies, including me.

And if you have any idea about what could be causing this, I'd be interested in hearing about it too.

I'm going out to try and investigate around with Floette.
You're going to think I'm crazy but... she can talk now. And I mean really talk, just like you and me.

d. [Action/Anywhere in Fayren/OTA]

[Mavis is walking around, barefoot as usual, accompanied by her little fairy-type Pokemon Floette. From time to time, she turns the little flower fairy and smiles at her. At some point, she stops to sit under a tree.]

Let's stop for a bit, shall we, Floette?

Okay, Mavis!

You know, even if I can usually understand you, I must admit it's much easier that way.

It doesn't make much of a difference to me...

I guess not. And you have no idea how it happened? Could it have been something you ate?

[Floette shakes her head and her red little flower 'no'.]

Well, let's keep looking... Oh! What's that?

[In the middle of the path lays a gigantic apple. It smells delicious and looks very tasty, though taking a bite of it might not be a good idea.]

[[ooc: Floette talking is just part of the even. The Pokemon will return to normal as the event ends.]]

[Another nod as she turns the camera towards Floette.] Floette, say 'hi' to Zeref.

[The fairy Pokemon waves slightly at the screen with her red flower.]Hi, Zeref!

... good afternoon, Floette.

{ Well, this is new, hearing a Pokémon with a vocabulary longer than one word... Mewtwo notwithstanding, of course. Could Torchic talk? He hasn't tried, and he left his Pokéball at home. }

How long has Floette been speaking? Is this permanent?

Since this morning. And I have no idea. Floette said she didn't even try to start talking.

[And since great minds think alike.] ...Can Torchic talk too?

I don't know. I didn't take him with me.

{ A beat. }

Could it be related to what's happening in the rest of Fayren? This morning, when I tried to make coffee, a bird landed on the windowsill and asked me if it could have some.

Maybe you can try to talk to Torchic later? [Inquiring minds want to know.]

I'm starting to think it is. [Even if it's very disappointing because that means Floette's ability to talk is probably only temporary.

And that story about the little bird asking for coffee? That's just so cute. Mavis wishes she could have been there to see that.] Really? And... did you give it some?

I suppose I could try. He could use the fresh air.

{ Zeref shook his head at her next question. }

It would have burned itself.

Not if you'd given it just a spoonful of coffee in a wooden spoon and had told it to blow on it before drinking!

[If she sounds like she's already done that... That's probably because she did. On Tenrou Island.]

If you like, I can try to get Torchic's ball. Where would you like for us to meet up?

[Did Blair find it strange? Nope!]

Like it's learning new words finally?

[Although Blair didn't mind. Floette still fun to play with.]

[That's one of the many reasons why she likes you, Blair. You believe everything is possible!]

Better than that. She can talk, just like you and me.

[Mavis nods.]

Good. Be careful, though. Things seem to happen when you least expect it.

When isn't something strange happening on the cities, I wonder. What kind of strange are we talking about?

...I didn't think about that. But you do have a point here.

Well... [Mavis pauses, thinking of the best examples to give Kay.] You can open the door to your living room and find yourself suddenly immersed under water.

...Or have the chairs in your kitchen stard to dance and refuse to let you sit on them.

Eating cake can make you shrink too. [She seems a bit sad about that last one, too. Mavis does have a sweet tooth.]

[Sorry to point that out, Mavis. But yeah, kay has Seen Some Things in his life. Weird is a relative concept for him.]

Okay. Yes, that's a new level of nonsense, even for this place.

[Mavis chuckles softly.] At least, it seems to only affect Fayren this time!

It’s like that weird Circus that appeared out of nowhere for a few days. I had fun during all that chaos and got to kiss Cassian.

Maybe this time things won’t be so bad again.

Maybe. [Hopefully.]

How are you and Cassian doing?

We will have to wait and see. Stay safe you too.

We are doing well. But Cassian has been a bit down lately.

Really? Is that something they can learn? [Erza's own experience with Pokemon is limited, but Floette's never shown any signs of that from what she's seen.]

I'll do what I can to help. Whoever's responsible will pay for making so many sweets inedible!

I've always been told they couldn't, no. And when you're used to it, they're actually pretty easy to understand. But it sounds like Floette figured out a way to do it anyway! [Mavis sounds so proud of her Pokemon.

A little shy voice can be heard in Mavis' background.] I didn't do anything special. [Floette leans over Mavis' shoulder and waves gently at Erza.] Hi, Erza!

[Mavis nods and frowns slightly at the same time.] I find it hard to believe that a single individual could be behind all of this. ...If so, they have to be one of the most powerful wizards I've ever met!

[Erza waves back to Floette, though a bit awkwardly since this is still new for her.] Hello. This must be exciting for you, isn't it?

[At least Erza can be confident in her response to Mavis's last statement.] No matter how powerful they are, I'm sure we can beat them together! [She's heard from Mira that they managed to beat Acnologia, and that seems to be at least as impossible.]

[Floette looks a bit puzzled at Erza's question.] Exciting? [It's not like she couldn't talk before. It's not the way Floette sees it at least. But eventually, she smiles politely.] I'm glad to be able to talk with you more, Erza.

[How she likes your enthusiasm, Erza!] I'm sure we can too! But first, we have to find them.

Yes, I'm glad too. It helps that I can understand you fully now. [It was possible to figure out what Floette was trying to say before, at least in some cases, but it inevitably took time, and Erza gets frustrated easily when it comes to talking.]

At least we can cover more ground now that we've got more members. If someone is behind something this big, I can't imagine that they'd be subtle about it.

I have no idea. What is going on now...is really unexpected.

[Yukiko really had no idea how to deal with it, but she knew she shouldn't take too long in order to do it.]

Is there anything we can do about it? Because I honestly am not sure when you have no idea what will happen next.

[A nod.] It truly is.

[Mavis smiles.] Just be there for people, I guess. Try to warn them about the dangers, help them if they need it and hope whatever magic is causing this will run out soon.

It doesn't seem to me that whoever is behind this is trying to harm anyone. Just playing some widespread and rather elaborated prank.

I'm trying to do that, but there have been some unexpected things happening...

[She is dealing with that as people were panicking, but she knew just this one area isn't affected and knew she wouldn't be able to get everywhere. Didn't help that there was no way for her to talk to all the people like she could with non-natives.]

That might be the case, but it's still rather destructive regardless. Just in a very different way.

Don't get discouraged, Yukiko. You're doing great. And I'm here to help you. Me and the other deputy guardians.

Destructive? Did some Fayren citizens lose their houses or something? If so, they're welcome to come to Fairy Haven. We have empty rooms in the dorms that they could use.

I know, I'm not discouraged, but I would never have expected things on this scale. But I will have faith we will do out best.

With some people that has been the case considering the whole...suddenly growing thing.

Oh, I see. Well then, maybe we could ask the people who grew bigger to help rebuild the houses they damaged before they get their normal size back? It'll be easier and faster for them. And it will ensure other citizens don't stay mad at them.

Good idea, I mean they probably would want to help fix something. I will go about doing that.

[She was trying to remember where the cases were.]

Might take me a while and I believe that there was at least one accident in your area.

[He does look a tad doubtful, but not as though he thinks she's crazy.

Indeed. I didn't even know Pokémon like Floette could learn to pronounce new words at all.

And you know what the oddest part is? Floette says she didn't do anything special. It wasn't even her intention to do so.

And so, with no indication, she simply gained the ability to speak? Does that not strike you as a tad...odd?

Have you experienced anything out of the ordinary yourself, over the last couple of days?

What a strange effect. [And one he wouldn't mind exploring...recording...for science and whatnot.]

If it's related, of course. [He shakes his head.] Aside from losing...everything? No. And while the state of my office suggests otherwise, I can assure you the clutter is very intentional. I don't simply misplace things.
