Twenty-Fourth Reel: Updating the System [Video]
[A rare sight in Everglade, Grell is holding a televised press conference at the Mayor’s office (recorded as well on her device), and has to dress a bit better for the occasion. The Mayor himself is there as well, standing nearby (in camera view) ever the pillar of support.]
Good Evening,
It’s been quite a while since a significant update has come from Everglade, and rightfully so, as the police force here has received an upgrade after a few months of covert training. My congrats and gratitude to the entire police force for completing this by sacrificing their own free time to help make us all safer. They’ve undergone extensive combat training, more tailored to this city specifically, along with equally extensive defense training, as not every situation needs excessive force. Our arsenal has also been upgraded, along with the responsible use of them which will be strictly enforced. In the near future, we hope to set up neighborhood watches in order to not only serve the needs of each citizen better, but also establish a system of protecting the areas we live in by encouraging everyone to be proactive.
We’re also working on improving cultural sensitivity, as our populace is diverse, and educating ourselves hurts no one. Mayor Schnee of Nova City has the right idea about bringing citizens on equal footing, yet in Everglade, it’s…a bit more complicated than that. I think what is most important, at the moment, is being more accepting of other cultures and not deeming one above, or below, the other. Most of us are not from the same culture, species, or even world, so the least we can do is start with officials like us and work our way to spreading information to the populace. Perhaps with our new knowledge, one day, we can reach equality.
Another upgrade comes to the mysticism laws, and how their evidence is inadmissible in courts. They will now be admissible only through a credible, neutral diviner or medium approved by the courts.
[It will make planning a murder a little bit difficult from now on, surely.]
Along with these upgrades comes pamphlets on emergency escape routes. Deputy Haller has thoughtfully created these shelters in each city, and it is important to know where to go and what to expect during another emergency. They are already in distribution and can be picked up at local stores.
With all that said, I am considering adding one last Deputy Guardian to Everglade, who will be paid out of my own pocket. A new addition will make the fourth deputy. The requirements remain the same as I last advertised:
That is all. Thank you. [Although she’s bombarded with questions, it isn’t clear if she answers them or not, as the feed ends there.]
(ooc: the deputy position has been filled!)

- -Must be of adult age, and if under this age they may still run but I would need to speak with them personally;
-Must not have a criminal record in Everglade, or have served their sentence and kept a clean record since its completion;
-Must have combat skills;
-Must have basic office skills.
That is all. Thank you. [Although she’s bombarded with questions, it isn’t clear if she answers them or not, as the feed ends there.]

And I'd like to be considered for the position of Deputy Guardian. I used to be one back when Fai-san was the Guardian of Everglade, so I already have experience in the office, so to speak. I wouldn't mind coming down for an interview if you'd like.

[What did she mean "still going well"??]
It truly helps to have previous experience. I've taken over after him when I was elected, and he has done much good during his time. It would be nice to chat a bit.
[ video ]
[ A pause, as she hopes that was enough to save face with her previous statement. ]
All right, when and where would you like to meet up?
[ video ]
[She definitely must be new.]
I have some time before my patrols tonight. Would you be free in an hour's time?

[ Action? ]

[ action ]
Miss? I'm the one who asked about the Deputy Guardian opening over the network.
[ action ]
Ah, yes, do come in, dear! [Grell puts down the small tin of oil and begins to lay her weapon on a spare towel, well used and covered in stains.] I appreciate you being punctual.
[ action ]
I try to be, miss. [ She never does like keeping people waiting, after all. ] May I take a seat?
[ action ] SORRY I'M SO LATE!!
[The weapon is pushed to the side gently so as to not be a distraction to their conversation. Once the other woman takes a seat, Grell folds her hands atop the desk and gives a cordial smile.]
So how long were you a deputy for?
[action bc HE'S RIGHT THERE????]
[action ALMOST DIDNT SEE HIM THERE LMAO IM KIDDING]
Precisely why I do my paperwork at home. I'm sure your office is soundproof?
[action I'M RESIGNING]
[action /goes to find an actual penguin to do your job!!]
That one isn't...
[Don't ask!]
But I'm glad yours is. There's something I need to discuss with you.
[action lmao like you can find a penguin as good as me]
[action TRUE so she'll just find an ugly one to insult you!!]
Well, at least you know, in case you ever have a meeting there.
[She motions for them to enter his office first, because she doesn't need such information to be heard.]
It's for our ears only.
[action DON'T YOU ***DARE***]
[action /eyebrow wiggle!!]
I'm not sure if it'll be necessary, but I may need to play on the side of the devil. [A hand is placed on her hip.] It seems that Dracula may choose to take over Everglade one day, leaving me to play a sort of martyr. [Shrugs a shoulder] Without the DYING part, I guess.
