[ Closed Log ] Lazy Lucy's bein' Lazy

WHO: Natsu and Lucy
WHEN: Right nao
WHERE: Lucy's room at Fairy Haven, aka Fairy Tail Mark II
WHAT: Natsu Dragneel, professional hairdresser. (...Okay not really. Also there may be tooth rotting cuteness.)

Several revelations came to light for Lucy recently. Some of which she isn't allowed to speak on, some of which she wasn't brave enough to admit to yet. At least to the person she needed to admit it to. Still progress ever moves forward~! Painstakingly slowly, but it moves forward.

Having been out most of the day, both to hang out with her guildies and friends, and to work, Lucy eventually returned home for a nice refreshing shower. However, problem. Even after changing clothes, her hair took forever to get properly dry and she didn't exactly have a hair dryer. Today wasn't a day she could call on Cancer so... she had few options. A) Stop being lazy and let it air dry, B) Hunt down Wendy and ask her to air dry it or C) Hunt down Natsu and ask HIM to heat dry it. Wow Lucy. Just. Wow.

... maybe she'll hunt down Natsu after all. ~~Such a lazy girl.~~

Well if she decided to go for option C she wouldn't have to go far. Natsu was out by the pool playing with Herb and Neverenas the two chased a ball around and tried to somehow shoot it between Natsu's legs as he assumed a wide stance to give them a sporting chance. He wasn\'t making it easy though.

Ever since bringing in the survivors of the witch incident, Natsu had taken to sticking around the guild building itself more and more. Even some of his training sessions had been relocated to the spacious back yard of Fairy Haven It was honestly quite convenient for a certain lazy blonde mage.

Option C it was! Besides, she always liked spendng time with Natsu. Even though she was with him not all that long ago that day. After asking around (really did Regina HAVE to give her that knowing grin when she pointed to the pool for Lucy?), the blonde mage wandered outside, following the sound of laughter and barking to the pool.

She lingered in the doorway a moment or two, watching Natsu playing with Neveren and Herb, a grin on her face. It was so cute watching them playing, she honestly didn't want to interrupt. After the umpteenth attempt to shoot the ball went a bit too side, Lucy burst into soft laughter, particularly when the ball landed in the pool and Herb, helpful dog that he was, leapt in after it.

Never a dull moment.

Honestly there were a lot of odd looks going on around the guild either directed at Lucy or himself for some reason. Natsu certainly didn't think some of his lingering doubts and hunches were so blatantly obvious to the rest of the guild. Regine especially integrated that part of being in the guild quite quickly.

"Woah there!" Natsu yelled as Herb made a big splash in the pool, diving after the ball. Oh yeah that was going to be one wet dog. Speaking of wet.

"Oh. Yo Lucy!" he said raising a hand in greeting before assuming a normal standing position now that Herb had found a different sort of game to play

Lucy really -should- tell him about the rumors floating around. They could shut them down so much more easily and ... most importantly if Erza caught wind of the assumption Juvia had, they were both dead meat. "Natsu - you guys having fun?" Herb would be sleeping -outside- tonight, of course. Until he dried off at least.

Nev.. well at least he wasn't giving the knowing look like Justyne and Regina did, thank heaven. But one never knew what the precocious kid was going to blurt out. IT was a miracle none of them ever said anything about Lucy and natsu kissing not that long ago. She may have Regina to thank for that though.

Shut them down? Was she honestly harboring that belief that they could successfully shut the rumors down? Well she was certainly hopeful at least. Honestly they were lucky Mirajane wasn't here or they would have a lot more bullets to dodge.

He flashed a big happy smile in Lucy's direction before watching Herb batting at the ball in the pool while swimming around. "Yeah but I think Herb found something else fun to do."

She was forever optimistic... though in all honesty, she thought it likely less and less. It'd be more likely that they made the rumors fact. Cough. Lucy watched the water loving dog playing with the ball, laughing. "Then if you're done here, can I get a favor?" She glanced at Neveren, "You don't mind if I steal him away for a bit do you?"
Neveren shook his head, but he grinned, "You're going to play with Natsu now? I can play with him later, right Natsu?"
Lucy scratched her cheek, "Well.. playing isn't exactly what I had in mind." ... see, it's statements like that that make people think the wrong thing though. She -meant- hair drying and talking. Thank god Neveren was too young and innocent to take it any other way.

Optimistic. That was likely not the word most would use. But enough about that. Apparently Lucy wanted his help with something. "Sure, if I can help, it's not problem at all." Natsu accepted with a simple nod before looking over to Neveren. Playing with Lucy. Funny conclusion to draw.

"Oh? Then what did you have in mind?" Maybe he was teasing a bit now but he couldn't help it really. Lucy's reactions would always be the best.

... Wait wait, what? His question would normally have gotten waved off as him being silly, but she blushes fiercely at the teasing question. "Nothing like THAT..!" She fidgeted slightly, "What are you even thinking!? I just meant - i mean, my hair.. Wet and.. I can't call Cancer today, that's all!"

... wait she just jumped to multiple conclusions and Natsu probably didn't have a clue what she was talking about. And DAMN her for blushing. "I just..wanted to know if you could dry my hair.." Pout. Yeah his not-girlfriend is laaazy. (And may secretly be using it as an excuse to spend time with him more.)

And there she goes again. Face as red as a ripe tomato. Natsu had to remind himself not to laugh because she was making such a hilarious expression and the pout was REALLY not helping in the least. Though he did blink owlishly when she finally made the purpose of her call for him, known.

"That's it? That's a piece of cake. You can just take a seat over on one of the lounge chairs and I'll get it dry for you in no time"

Darn him. "Well what did you -think- I was going to ask?" She huffed, pout in full force. Hmph. HMPH. ... no really, what DID he think she was going to ask. She had to commend his ability not to burst out laughing though - even though she knew he wanted to. She could tell! ".. thanks, Natsu."

In any case, she padded over to one of the lounge chairs, distant enough that Neveren couldn't eavesdrop just in case she did decide to enlighten Natsu on the things she'd heard around the guild.

Though Nev seemed to have lost interest once he heard Lucy's request anyway.

"How should I know. You're the weirdo of the team. Can't know what crazy idea you might come up with." Weirdo was said with fondness though. Because that was the weirdo he...for whom...you know what maybe he should not go down that line of inquiry.

"No worries. I'll have your hair dry in in no time. " Natsu said and started focusing growing heat in his palms until a small flame wrapped around his hands like a glove.

Lucy made a face, "I thought that was your job. Weirdo Dragonslayer." She teased back affectionately. "Take your time," she added. She wanted the hair dried properly after all, not rushed through. "I know it's not really the kind of thing you'd want to use your magic for but.." She was feeling lazy? She knew it too, giggling a little, sheepishly.

He just laughed at her playful jab and let it slide knowing full well where their parts truly lay in this friendship and partnership. Natsu warmed his hands up even more but definitely enough to still be safe touching any part of Lucy without harm.

"Huh? Well it's not that bad really. I've been used as a quick drier plenty of times. This is the first time someone asks for me to use it in this precise of a way."

Lucy giggled. "Not even Erza's asked you to dry her hair?" She may have traumatized Natsu with that actually. "Ah, hold on - I should be facing away for this. That will probably make it easier, right?" On both of them.
Of course she wasn't the least bit worried about him causing her harm - her trust in him was total, after all. Anyone else with fire powers, she would never ask them to do this kind of thing. She'd be too worried they'd burn her hair off.

"Are you kidding me? I'd be to scared to even try. One singed strand and I'd be eating her metal fist." She was quite adamant about that scarlet hair. Unknowingly to Natsu it likely had something to do with her and Jellal but that's debatable.

"He? Well I don't really mind either way. My hands can reach around anyways." Natsu said with a shrug and parted his hands so that they framed Lucy's head.

"Gonna start heating things up now." Natsu said and the flames around his hands seemed to grow a fraction though the increase in heat did not match the flames around his hands.

"Ahah I thought as much." She chuckled, "All right, if you can manage it like this, that's fine." ...although if she were to think about it again, facing away probably would be safer for her. "Ah? Okay!" She glanced at his hands briefly. His control over flames amazed her every time. She couldn't help but giggle a little, teasing, "Maybe I should tell Cancer he doesn't need to dry my hair anymore."

Fire was a part of him, a part of his very being. Naturally his control could only get better as he developed. And while his gauntlets were long gone, the progress he'd gotten while striving to learn how to use them was not lost.

He chuckled lightly at the mentions of the hair styling spirit.

"Wasn't he in charge of cutting to begin with?" After all he always showed up with scissors in hand every time he saw him.

"Well, cutting and styling. But that still includes washing and drying my hair." She glanced up at him briefly, then glanced down again. "Say, Natsu.." WHY is she even bringing it up? Well.. better to hear it from the best friend than someone else, right? Though she fidgeted a little bit, because it's a little embarrassing to bring it up, when he's doing this.

"Ah well that's true I guess." His experience of hairstyle extended to steam pressing his spikes into place. But Lucy wanted something simple just to get her hair in a manageable state so as to not catch a cold. He slowly moved his hands around LUcy's hair, to spread the heat around evenly. Luckily he could do that on autopilot too since Lucy apparently decided to strike up a bit more conversation.

"Hm? What is it Lucy?"

But it worked for him! And ..it was strangely soothing feeling him drying her hair. Almost like a head massage. Not quite though. "There's just...something I have to tell you. I hadn't said anything about it before, because I wasn't sure what to think, but, it's important, I think."

Well if she wanted a massage he could always switch to that. For now though it seemed she had other things in mind. So he just tilted his head curiously at Lucy.

"Okayy? I'm listening." While still drying her hair expertly.

It was tempting, but no. She might fall asleep on him if she did that. Looking up to watch him curiously - even if she didn't tell aaaaaaaanyone else, she had to tell him. But of course she intended to tell the others too. "The other night I was approached by the spirits of this place. While I was asleep, I mean." Because obviously it wasn't while she was awake. "They asked me for help - to be the go between for Fayren - a medium of sorts."

That wasn't all they said to her, but it was the only part she was permitted to talk about. "So if a situation like what happened with that giant monster in Genessia happens again, they'll tell me, and I can warn everyone." She's actually not sure what else the duty would entail but.. "It's the same for Rei - she's the go-between for Genessia City. I accepted."

Falling asleep was not a bad thing though, he'd just take her up to her room and let her sleep it out for a bit. However that wasn't in the cards now. When Lucy started revealing her election by the spirits, he can't help but put on a perplexed expression.

"Wow. That's awesome though right. They didn't ask for anything bad in exchange or something like that right?" After all spirits could be quite the negotiators.

".. Yeah, of course." She grinned. "This way if anything bad is going to happen, we won't be surprised by it." She paused, "Although there's the possibility that they won't tell me a lot - they've been pretty vague about things." As for if they asked for anything in exchange - she shook her head slightly. "No." Not yet at least. Unless the exchange of information was bad enough. "Nothing to worry about anyway, I don't think."

Except the part where some people who were given information went mad from it. But Lucy could handle it! Unconsciously she let out a soft sigh, giving herself a mental shake. Eef, she was getting way too cozy there.

"Well that's gonna help then!" Though he had to admit he didn't like that pause or the distant look she got after a while. Which was why he started spreading the heat around even more to soothe and calm her just as much as drying her hair.

"Well we'll be here to help out how we can. So don't go taking it all on your own shoulders, okay?"
