First Snap - [Video - Night time]

[He managed waking up fine, weird pod and all, and even stranger some information about his new place. He doesn't particularly care, he'd been in an 'anywhere but here' kind of situation. His wish is granted, but as he leaves the bay, there's a monster in front of him.]

Whoa! I come to a new place and there's monsters roaming around!

[The screen goes back, stuffed into a pocket most likely and the sound of gunshots, and a bit of a scuffle.

He appears on screen with a huge grin.]

Haha! Victory!

[He hums a fairly familiar tune, at that.]

[ Frowns. ]

Least you can get most people t'safety, if they're predictable.

[ That was the one good thing about the Dark Hour. A steady source of chaos. ]

When the sun goes down, and the days are getting shorter.

[Someday soon it will just be night all the time, but that's not the thing to worry about too much.]

They'll stay away from lights too, so people just put big lights up.

[ Shinjiro barely had heard anything about Prompto's world, but he was pretty familiar with end-of-wold scenarios. ]

Anybody know what's causing it?

[And by we he means Noctis, because his role to play is just to protect him so he can do what needs to be done.]

[ He almost says "hopefully you won't be here long, then, until he remembers. Time stopped for people when they came from their other worlds. Handy, that.

So, instead: ] Good luck with that.

You don't have to worry, Noct is the best!

[He really believes in him, as a best friend should.]

We can't do anything without him, and apparently he's here, so that's great! I can keep doing what I'm supposed to.

Tch. I don't know nothin bout your world - I ain't worried.

[ Shinjiro is a lying liar. Of course he's worried, even if he had barely met the guy. ]

... Which is. Shooting things?

[He smiles sheepishly.]

Oh. Right.

[He glances away from the screen a moment and looks back.]

Yeah. I mean, kinda! It's my job to protect Noct and if Gladio and Ignis aren't here, then I gotta make sure I do a real good job. [He grins.]

[ He felt like a dick asking, but. ]

D'you need to find this Noct here, too, then?

[ Considering what was going on, especially. ]

Yeah, but I'm sure Noct will tell me where he is.

[He's less worried about that, but he does need to get inside until morning.]

Unless...

[Unless Noct doesn't want to, unless he's tired of Prompto's presence, something that digs into his mind like a vicegrip.]

... Unless he feels like he's perfectly safe here.

Usually there aren't no monsters roamin about, after all. It's just been happenin real recently.

[ He doesn't know why he wants to reassure the guy, but. Shinjiro figures he was only being honest. ]

[He fidgets a little because what if that's true? What if he doesn't need protection? What if he found a new best friend? What if he learns his secret? What if he doesn't want him around?

He couldn't forget what happened on the train.]

I...[He takes a breath.] Y-Yeah I guess.

[He's feeling lightheaded isn't he?]

[ ... Was it just his imagination, or was the guy looking a little faint? ]

You OK?

Uh uh. F-fine.

[He stammers out the response. He's not sure what he'd do if Noctis did that, and some part of him thinks Noctis won't, but he can't be a hundred percent sure.]

...

[ It was obvious, even to Shinjiro, what comment set him off.

He sighs, scratches the back of his head. He ducks into a doorway, so he can actually concentrate on this conversation, rather than getting half-distracted by monsters. ]

Listen, kid.

I don't know you two, but. Just cause you ain't gotta protect him from these daemons, or whatever they are, doesn't mean he won't. Uh. Want you hangin 'round, or something.

[ ... Why was he even bothering with this again? ]

[Now he's making someone worry, someone he doesn't know. What kind of dumb thing is that?]

I'm not a kid, really.

[He smiles, and lets out a nervous little laugh.]

I, y-yeah, I know!

[He's not sure, but he can say he is. What Noctis does will happen in the future.]

I'm just t-tired.

... Whatever.

[ He just hoped this Noct, whoever that was, talked some sense into him. Or, if he didn’t, then this guy needed better friends, anyway.

Raises an eyebrow. ]

All the buildings are safe. If you need to duck into a cafe or somethin, catch your breath ....?

Nah, I gotta keep moving.

[He nods with determination.]

If I s-stop I won't keep going.

[Everything aches, and he's moving to keep from being stiff and holding his gun is far more comforting than it had any right to be at that point.]

[ His frown turned into a scowl. ]

... Right.

[ He knew that look, that tone of voice. It was familiar, because it usually came from him. ]

Where are you, anyway?

[He shrugs helplessly.]

No idea, but I think I'm going to find the apartment thing soon.

[Yeah, just have to hold onto that and then he can get some rest.]

You got the address for the place, right?

[ Maybe he'd just. Wait around there, make sure the guy wasn't about to collapse for real.

Weren't there healers or something that people could call in Genessia? He frowned. It was too bad he was only really good at hitting things and being hit by things. ]

Yeah, I do.

[He smiles but turns to fire his gun at another monster coming up at him.]

I'll be fine getting there and everything!

[So don't worry about him, Shinjiro.]

[ Too late. ]

Well. Good luck gettin there.

[ And cuts the connection. ]

[ Action ]

[ Have a former hobo creeping in your alley, Prompto.

He's just making sure you're not about to collapse, and that you're not bleeding too badly.

Might be pretty easy to miss - he's pretty used to skulking around - but then again, he isn't a ninja, either, so someone who's paying atention will spot him. ]

[It's easy enough to tell when he's coming, because he's firing his gun at monsters every so often.

Prompto is looking pretty tired. He's not really bleeding, it's more bruising when he steps into the light.

Although he's not a ninja either, he is used to catching any movement and although he reacts to Shinjiro by raising his gun, he quickly lowers it when he realizes it's a person and not a monster.]

[ Shinjiro knows what it looks like, after somebody’s been held down and worked over. His experiences were ... less professionally done than Prompto’s.

But it left similar marks. And judging by the guy’s reaction, earlier? His face tightened, but he kept any hint of pity off of his face.

It’s what he would have wanted, if someone had ever found him. ]

... Hey.

If I return in about thirty minutes with some shit to heal you, will you be awake enough to open the door?
